Olenna Tyrell played that so perfectly. She got the info she needed from Jaime about how she would die (she was going to die anyway), and then she played her final hand. Like. A. Boss. Olenna Tyrell is one of my spirit animals. Love her.
Lowkey did Jaime dirty though. Mans didn't disrespect her, and right before going out she gave him a final jab, even though it was mainly meant for Cersei.
In the show, they give Bran more power than he has in the books. And by doing so, they downplay the importance of the Weirwood trees. In the books, his power isn't unlimited ability to see everything. He can see anything that has ever happened in the presence of a weirwood. This is why the trees are sacred and planted in important places. Oaths are taken and marriages performed in front of them, so there is always a permanent record of these things in the mind of the three eyed raven, even if people have long since forgotten that's the reason for it.
Remember Sam wanted access to some of the older books to look for answers on how to beat the white walkers. Making him copy those books seems like a punishment, but in reality, he now has access to some books he normally would not get to read. Of course, some of them are pointless, but this gives him a chance to find some answers.
Yea this was actually low key a reward from the grand maester because he knew Sam wanted to read the forbidden books. He gave him exactly the books he needed
I read Theon’s hop overboard as someone who now knows quite a lot about dealing with no-win situations from sadists-unlike the (dead) Starks, he’ll sacrifice his honor to live and fight another day, which he also now knows is another chance to do the right thing. But if a sadist presents you with a no-win, take the option to sacrifices your honor rather than kills both you and your sister.
Absolutely! He who runs away lives to fight another day. Someone has to get out to say what happened and prepare the other side. Go get help. Had he stayed he would have died….or worse.
Just a little info, the castle Dany is at was originally belonging to the Targs.. Stannis and them took it over after the Targ empire fell. So essentially Dany just went back to her original home!
@04:17: the beach scenes at Dragonstone are filmed on the Itzurun beach in Zumaia (Spain), on the Basque Coast, from season 7. The Dragonstone castle is CGI and sits at the top of another Spanish filming location, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Bermeo, along the Bay of Biscay. The stairs are real (237 steps).
I think yall missed the strategic move Cersei did. They let grey worm take Casterly rock on purpose and sent Euron to destroy their ships. But while they were focused on taking Casterly rock, that left High Garden wide open, and that’s how Jamie slipped in and took over so easily. High garden is worth way more than Casterly rock because it’s where they grow all the food.
Y'all got to understand Theon has not gone to therapy. He's basically having ptsd. You never know when that will be trigger or can simply overcome it because of someone else's life being in jeopardy.
Danny's complete ignorance on the white walkers is especially frustrating bc in the books she has a lot of premonitions about the future. There is no way, that by the time she gets to Westeros, that she isn't going to have an inkling about the danger from the north. It's her literal destiny to face them with her dragons!!!
People tend to not pay attention to the foreshadowing. When Jon is walking up with Tyrion at dragon stone Jon says “but I’m not a stark”. The Drogon flies right over him. I love that. And yall know dragon stone. Where they were walking is where Daemon and Otto were about to fight in HOD. Love you guys!❤
A great way to go out for one of the best characters in GOT. R.I.P. Olenna Tyrell - Queen of Thorns, R.I.P. Dame Diana Rigg - OG actress from the classical era!
Cersei went after the Tyrell's because the Tyrells used Tomen's love for Margery, to turn him against his own family. And eventually she would end up on the chopping block. But Cersei always peeped the game and took them all out. She knew that Margery was a seductress and a snake. She knew, because she knew what Jeoffrey really was. But Margery put on this act, like she really loved him. Yall need to stop underestimating Cersei. She is exactly like her father. If she were a man people would respect her viciousness. But she's a female. So she was forced to marry an abusive drunk and have babies. Even though she knew they would all die. She didn't have a choice. Olena said it along time ago "Nobody suspects a rose". The weapon the Tyrells use is sex and marriage.
“Book of Tyrion: Chapter 6, Verse 9” 😂😂😂 The symmetry of Little Finger’s speech to Sansa & Bran showing up was pretty sweet POUR ONE OUT FOR OUR QUEEN OF THORNS 🥀🍻
They have to be outside by the white (weirwood) tree for Bran’s powers. The trees are a huge source of magic especially for the Greenseers (wargs etc) which is what Bran is.
Technically Jon’s titles are: Jon Snow of Winterfell, the white wolf, sworn brother and Lord Commander of the nights watch, the resurrected and King of the North.
A solid run for Olenna and Rest In Peace Dame Diana Rigg! Worthy of all the praise and adoration! A brilliant talent and absurdly beautiful woman! There's compare/contrast between young Diana Rigg (as Emma Peel) and Natalie Dormer (QUEEN Margæry). And Jinkies, they are related in some way, because it's amazing.
Honestly as much as I hated Cersei…I didn’t blink an eye at what she did to them, they deserved it, Myrcella didn’t do anything to anyone and Oberyn would have hated her murder and the murders of his brother and nephew.
The problem you two have with Theon is that the Bible doesn't have a single example of "flee so you can fight another day". Because in the Bible stories, they just showed up with God and win all the battles, no need to flee. But it is an important lesson in any combat situation. Theon is way more useful by getting help and sharing the new intell with the others. The stupid thing to do for his sister and the war is to even try and get killed. There's no way Theon was going to be able to kill his much stronger and more experienced uncle and his Pirates. But now Theon has a chance to get help and also a second chance for the sister that would have been killed the moment Theon tries to step on the plate and fight, just to throw him off. He could either run smart or die stupid and kill his sister in the process. Read "The Art of War" or "The Book of Five Rings" to learn about military strategy and tactics. 🥷

He's not trying to tell her she has to help. He's there to warn her of the true threat, ask her to help, and then go home to deal with it. He wouldn't bend the knee for anyone, man or woman. He took that lesson from Mance and the wildlings. It's got nothing to do with gender, it's got to do with who's in control of the big armies. He never expected her to blindly help. She's expecting him to blindly follow. No, most people would not have killed him. There's an entire montage of them trying to recruit and often times the people said no. They never attempted to kill him.
