Man im getting the 2017 rav4 in a month. Been living in a 2012 acura tl. Its been 3 months now goin on 4. Went by quick. I work as a caregiver and work 130 hours a week. Supporting my mother and wife abroad while doing so. Learning software engjneering. Cant wait to continue to progress. I also want to use the rav4 to do lyft and uber so work can stay steady and no suprises or changes in schedule. So i dont want to do a set up kit and take out chairs etc. Im justvgonna get trifold bed and lower seats flat. I dont need to cook and planet fitness is right across the street.
It's been a great help. Doing lyft and doordash and uber. Now fully 1099 contractor or llc owner I do about 80-90 hours now. More freedom of schedule. I started a home care business. Starting an llc for transportation for deductibles on car and ve fully self employeed and hire good people and those under estimated. Very small and slow but steady. Going to take a trip and take 6 weeks off for first time in 6-7 years. It was very unhealthy but needed to be done. Now focused on growing and getting more freedom and helping those around me and having an impact.
Hello ☀️so happy to see soeone who has converted there newer rav 4 by taking seats out. I took both of my back seats out and wonderedabout the front. Im 5’2” and have a 65 lbdo. Just did a 7600 mi trip around the US. Redy to get out again. Look forward to more of your videos 🙋🏼♀️
Thank you!! It’s nice to see someone else doing a similiar thing! That’s a lot of miles, where did you end up going? I’m shooting a video right now going to Colorado from Iowa. I appreciate the sub!

Just bought my first car, rav4, a couple of months ago and exploring how to go camping in it 🤩 How awesome that you just started posting! Inspo for sure!!
So, this video makes me think that a 5th Gen could be doable. I'm like 2 1/2x your age, and my everything hurts. I just need enough space to lay down. Thanks for the video. It's encouraging.
Great use of the space! I currently car-camp in my Toyota Matrix, but am looking at trading it in for a Rav4 mainly due to the winter driving I have to do in the Yukon. But, I gotta admit, as much as I love my Matrix (great car btw!) I am excited about the idea of more head room and space for car camping! Also the ability to get back into the bush further with the AWD. Subbed!
That’s really cool that you have a remote job. That’d be my ideal scenario. And wow we have the same year and everything that crazy! I hope there’s something in the vid that could help
This is the closest I've seen to my 2017. I hadn't considered doing the bed sitting in the front. Nice idea! I have a 60 lb dog so I have to accommodate her as well.
Nice! Yeah the bed in the front really opens up a lot of space and options for other things. You really have to utilize every inch! Hit the subscribe button if you want to see future videos(: thanks
I bought a 2024 rav4 xle in Jan . I saved up for a few years so I could pay cash . I’m trying to keep my mileage low. I’m going to move into mine in a year or 2
Some day, I’m just going to take off in my jeep on a car camping trip. It all seems so exciting. I’ll start off as a weekender just to see if something I’ll be able to do. I’m not naive about it, but it just looks like something fun to do with my dog to get her out in nature more.
Finding that out. Your hitch actually gave me the idea to look for hitch box’s. Considering upgrading the suspension and wheels. Along with a cabinet system. But one thing at a time. Mines going into the Overland build world.
I was homeless living in my 4Runner in L.A. I wish I would have had some of these things but it's L.A. and having a full time corporate job it's not like I can show up to work or my clients homes with all the stuff...much less cities like Santa Monica have tight parking restrictions like no car over 6ft tall and length is only a BMV Sedan. But I did have a place on the weekends where I parked at night cause I was able to back into my parking space and run my laptop and charge my stuff while walking to the gym to shower and the top level had a grocery store by the beach so weekends I wasn't working tax seasons I always tried to get my spot before people hit all the bars on the strand...so at night with drunks and the lot it would get noisy but only for a few hours and having electricity I just put in ear plugs from 10 to 3 am.
Very cool swing your setup!!! I’d love some of the dimensions and tips for the window coverings, I’ve made some but I’d like to improve them a bit. I also like how much head room you have for sleeping, im a little close to the roof and very tall 😅
I am considering this in my 2014 Rav4. Trouble is I have a cat, lol. Did you have any issues with airbag connections when removing the seats? My seats do not fold flat so removing is necessary for the bed space. Thanks, looking forward to more videos!
Hey thanks for tuning in! So if you decide to remove the front seat it will trigger an airbag code and tell you to see your dealer. I just ignore it because it has no impact on the car. But as far as the back seats go I didn’t have that issue. Hope this helps!
You can only remove the back rest. I did that on my Rav, but you only get a few inches of headspace and you lose too much storage under the bed. For me it was too much trouble to take in and out and to store it.
@Rav4Roaming The front passenger stays up, and the rear passenger also stays up. In the summer it is the coolest part of the car so I work sitting there. In the winter, it becomes my kitchen. When I lay it flat , there was lots of room but I have passengers throughout the months. So I keep it up to cut back on the hassle. It's a lot of work setting everything up again 😵💫
About mice in this gen rav 4 . I have 2017 and mice chewed the plastic screen above the cabin air filter like it was candy. I had to take off the wiper blades and the plastic panels to screw screen over the intake , no mice since , was about 5 months ago now.
@@RavRovingI had mice living in the engine of my scooter and squirrels using the intake to store nuts (I don’t ride the scooter during the winter), but it never occurred to me that critters could be an issue for my RAV4! Thanks for the tip!

I like your rear hitch basket solution. I have the yakima exo system but Ill be honest. You dont need to spend that much to have a good rear system like you have. That yakima system is too heavy for the tongue weight for most cars. And a lot SUVs. Yes its a great system but only if you put paper light stuff in it. I have a 2018 kia Sorrento and that exo system with nothing in it already substantially slumps the rear part of my suv. They should if made it if aluminum or find some way of cutting the weight. Yes they trickle charge when my car is running, but i dont drive enough to get a significant charge that way so what I’ll do is leave one in while i take another out to charge when im at work.
Ah thats clever, im in the same boat as you where im undecided whether to go for a 290wh battery or 500 just because of costs. How long can one of those battery packs run the fridge for ? Cheers
