Me too...got a van but now my brakes need fixed and no money to fix em! I thought the hardest part was getting the van...nope! Sitting here for over 3 months now...can't find a damn job! I wanna get on the road!
I can tell you, I’m not much of a camper. That’s why I would need a van! I love her van. I want one. My cousin isn’t much of a camper either. My cousin is 6 mos older than me. She’s my mother’s sister s daughter. We both got married the same year. Had our first child the first year we were married. Only she got a divorce. The guy she married was a not nice guy. Years after he just disappeared. Like poof off the face of the earth. Never to be seen or heard from again. But she married a much older man who treats her like she rules the earth. lol I’m so glad. She deserved better than what she got at first. I was married to My husband for 37 yrs till he died of cancer.
It feels great watching RV now. When you 1st got him, he had this look on his face that said "This Lady has kidnapped me!" Now his body language says he is a member of a pack he loves. What a beautiful transformation to have witnessed. Thank You for that Nikki.

Friday and Saturday, my two favorite TH-cam people. Nikki and Sarah. No pressure on the dog. A dog is a lot of work and responsibility. So take your time darlin😎
Rest areas: Montana has some of the nicest rest areas I have ever seen. Large buildings with an "air lock" entrance (to help keep winter cold out). I went in and there was a female wing, and a male wing. 4 or 5 doors down each wing with INDIVIDUAL, lockable bathrooms. The room I went into was very large, at least 8' by 16', with a toilet, sink, urinal, changing table, hand dryer station and trash can. Also, very clean. A second one I stopped at was like the first, but they also had a large, fenced pet bathroom (50' by 50'?). Complete with fire hydrant in the middle!
My bet is that a dog will find Sarah. Loved this video, as I recalled living in my '73 VW for a summer. Took showers at work, in the morgue area, and ate hospital food every single day. Went from living in my VW to a studio room, to a studio apartment with my long haired chihuahua, Squire Jude of Avondale Estates. I rescued him from a pet store by obtaining my first loan. Paid him off in 6 short months and interest rates in '79 were at 14%. Thank you for taking us along Nikki (& Sarah)

My boyfriend and I camp in my RAV4 all the time. I build a platform that fits in the trunk and can pull out in the back and then we can have bins of storage underneath the platform and we get more room for the bed to span the entire back seat and trunk. Nikki inspired me years ago and this is exciting to see Sarah step into it!

My favorite moment is seeing Campers tail wag when hes riding somewhere new. RV riding in your lap is second even though I don't think its the safest. I have a border collie who loves going in the car. Its her favorite thing and doesn't want to get out when we get home.😊 She would love your lifestyle.

Less is more, i learned after a divorce after 25 yrs and turning 50 that most things i had i never used or needed and getting rid of them was great. The freedom you feel having little to worry about is amazing and most people who need tons of material shit are shaĺlow people inside and hide alot of things.

Love you Nikki but please leash your dogs. I can’t tell you how many times unleashed dogs on the trail charge at our dogs. The owners will try to recall their dogs and they never listen. It’s arrogant to think that your dogs will always be on their best behavior when off leash.
I understand comparing my dogs to those you’ve had bad experiences with as I have had the same encounters with irresponsible dog owners and have felt the same way. I also agree with this, especially if the dog does not have recall down 100% and you’re in a public spot or trail with other dogs who could potentially be aggressive and especially if there are leash laws- we must abide! (having a previously reactive dog myself that we’ve done extensive work on and continue to do work on). However, I do not think it’s fair to lump this situation into this category. Again if there are leash laws that is one thing! Personally I didn’t take camper off of a leash for over 2 years til his recall was perfect, Rodney was easy to train after that haha. I spent a LOT of time and money on board and trains, specified training with professionals and Hours, daily still To this day, to make sure my dogs will come back and don’t approach others without permission (here other dogs entered our camp spot without warning or asked ahead of time). :-) anyways this area had no leash laws or other people on the trail (again no leash laws) and we stayed to our designated camp spot. - just yesterday we encountered a bear and coyote and they both turned right around and stood beside me. :-) proud of my dogs and feel I give them enough freedom to give them a good life but also to keep them safe.

I drove over the road for 42 years and one thing I can tell you is. Trucking isn’t what it used to be. Just because you see trucks doesn’t mean it’s safe. I haven’t slept in a rest area in years. I’m a family man that’s 6’ and a little under 300. They bang on the truck trying to sell ?? Or ?? If they’ll do that to me then what would they do to a single woman.

Nikki, Sarah could upgrade to a empty mini van converted to a mini-camper. Twin Bed behind drivers seat. Storage to one side and back. Small cabinets over storage area or use metal baskets mounted over storage area. Between storage area and passenger seat, micro kitchen with 2 tier cooking area. Pots,dish towels, silver ware,cooking utensils underneath in drawers. Top tier,double burner electric stove that can be hooked up to the Jackery. Don't forget micro fridge that could be hooked to another Jackery.Installed sunroof towards front. Passenger side extendable cover. Trailer hitch for Bicycle rack/Bicycle. Emergency composite potty. Positive upgrades - more head room,easier to dress and undress, less claustrophobia with wider area, Can cook inside if raining, but kitchen area could be designed to slide out the door for outdoor cooking. Recommended Vehicles , Nissan/Chevrolet is same thing,Dodge. I think Mercedes puts out one. Stay away from Ford
As someone who just car camps, I would suggest a roof box, it would help massively in keep the living area tidier. At 6'2 it gave me more room to sprawl out (or should I say more room for my pooch to sprawl out). 🙂
We car camped and Overlanded for many years. Not full time though. We now have a small travel trailer and 4Runner. Looking forward to more long 3+ week trips. Like your progression, Sarah will get better and more equipped as she goes along...
I really think Nikki and Sarah B make a great cousin travelling team, and of course having Camper and Rodney around too. I always think “Safety” in numbers is always the best way to go for all. I know that pilot, next time don’t stay at those 2 rest areas restrooms are nasty, go to the cabazon dinosaurs to the truck stop or the Morongo casino there’s plenty of parking at the back, also the dirt lot next to the Morongo Resort and the Pizza Hut in Banning next to I-10. If you are by Coachella the spotlight 29 casino is a good spot.
Just FYI about foxtail also known as cheat grass. Check in between your dogs toes real quick aftera hike. That's another place they get and then they burrow into your dog's skin there and cause abscesses and lameness. Nasty little things. 😮
you deffoe need a net, now am from the North of England and ive fell walked all over the country, we get Midges, ive also experienced Mosquitoes in France, but Midges are the worst, they travel in packs!

Hi Nikki. I saw your sleep ring a while back. Here's what works for me. I never drink coffee by choice (your fav.) and rarely drink soda with caffeine. What works for me. One time I ate a whole bunch of non organic strawberries about an hour before I went to bed and I fell asleep within an hour which is good for me and felt rested in the morning. During Covid we could not get strawberries from Ca. so I bought green grapes and they worked as well. Found out they both contain melatonin. For me one seems to work for 2-4 months and then I switch to the other and they work again. Weird but true. Give it a try. Also, in the evening try not to use your electronics or think too much which is hard for you to do with your job. KEN
I eat a Monster Salad once a day. Couple hand fulls of greens, lots of raw veggies, protein, and beans. Infinite variety, infinite yum! You inspired me!

No to move back to prius. Move forward, not back. Your mini RV-ing in the 4x4 Van is unique and educational. You both need hats. You will regret all that sunlight on your face when you are older. Sunburn and windburn are cumulative effects that really burn and weather your skin. This is a case of an ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure. I give Sarah at most 6 months to a dog so 11/12/24. She would do well with an Aussie shepherd dog. A pound puppy rescue of course. The camper tee shirts are great! I am looking forward to my next order when you create version 2.

Pots,dish towels, silver ware,cooking utensils underneath in drawers. Top tier,double burner electric stove that can be hooked up to the Jackery. Don't forget micro fridge that could be hooked to another Jackery.Installed sunroof towards front. Passenger side extendable cover. Trailer hitch for Bicycle rack/Bicycle. Emergency composite potty. Positive upgrades - more head room,easier to dress and undress, less claustrophobia with wider area, Can cook inside if raining, but kitchen area could be designed to slide out the door for outdoor cooking. Recommended Vehicles , Nissan/Chevrolet is same thing,Dodge. I think Mercedes puts out one. Stay away from Ford

As someone who just car camps, I would suggest a roof box, it would help massively in keep the living area tidier. At 6'2 it gave me more room to sprawl out (or should I say more room for my pooch to sprawl out). 🙂

We car camped and Overlanded for many years. Not full time though. We now have a small travel trailer and 4Runner. Looking forward to more long 3+ week trips. Like your progression, Sarah will get better and more equipped as she goes along...

I know that pilot, next time don’t stay at those 2 rest areas restrooms are nasty, go to the cabazon dinosaurs to the truck stop or the Morongo casino there’s plenty of parking at the back, also the dirt lot next to the Morongo Resort and the Pizza Hut in Banning next to I-10. If you are by Coachella the spotlight 29 casino is a good spot.
Cool! I'm at Fernley Nevada Pilot Truck stop right now! Road dogs can stay pretty frequently, and just across the street is a dirt parking lot!❤❤😊😊😊

Just FYI about foxtail also known as cheat grass. Check in between your dogs toes real quick aftera hike. That's another place they get and then they burrow into your dog's skin there and cause abscesses and lameness. Nasty little things. 😮

Hi Nikki. I saw your sleep ring a while back. Here's what works for me. I never drink coffee by choice (your fav.) and rarely drink soda with caffeine. What works for me. One time I ate a whole bunch of non organic strawberries about an hour before I went to bed and I fell asleep within an hour which is good for me and felt rested in the morning. During Covid we could not get strawberries from Ca. so I bought green grapes and they worked as well. Found out they both contain melatonin. For me one seems to work for 2-4 months and then I switch to the other and they work again. Weird but true. Give it a try. Also, in the evening try not to use your electronics or think too much which is hard for you to do with your job. KEN
I eat a Monster Salad once a day. Couple hand fulls of greens, lots of raw veggies, protein, and beans. Infinite variety, infinite yum! You inspired me!

No to move back to prius. Move forward, not back. Your mini RV-ing in the 4x4 Van is unique and educational. You both need hats. You will regret all that sunlight on your face when you are older. Sunburn and windburn are cumulative effects that really burn and weather your skin. This is a case of an ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure. I give Sarah at most 6 months to a dog so 11/12/24. She would do well with an Aussie shepherd dog. A pound puppy rescue of course. The camper tee shirts are great! I am looking forward to my next order when you create version 2.
