    Your 200 looked more relaxed than the your 60. It shows you feel more comfortable in the 200. Maybe because there isn't the pressure to start perfect.
    nice and smooth... a inside choke..

    Do you think squats make you slower because I’ve been seeing a lot of things saying squats are bad for sprinters but I see you do them.

    • @maitlandbezzina2842
      @maitlandbezzina2842 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve done a fair amount of reading on squats for sprinting benefits and from what it seems it’s very dependent on HOW you do the squats more than anything. Most elite sprinters prefer to complete quarter or half squats in small Rep ranges because this ‘half’ or ‘quarter’ movement more closely emulates the biomechanics of the movements involved in sprinting. Additionally, with squats you can tailor them to your body composition and vary the movements to suit what your body needs. Squats certainly help sprinting, and they have helped me immensely on my sprinting journey thus far.

      @@maitlandbezzina2842 i dont think they are very important. I dont think even usain did squats but he did leg press. They are probably helpful only for pushing out the blocks and the first few step. However when you get to top speed the quads which are the prime muscles in squats are not important. I would focus on more glute and hamstring centralized exercises and more plymetrics as these could improve top speed which is very important in being fast obviously. Another important thing would be not to do high volume of squats as getting your legs too big will probably slow you down

    why do you do the jumps when you hold the band, at 5:14? Curious for the reason behind it

    • @hovejoha
      @hovejoha  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a sort of overspeed jump.
      I believe the short contact-times and fast extension (faster than I am able to do on my own) is a nice stimuli, and helps with increasing my speed of movement.
      Especially since I am "more" on the strong/explosive side than fast side naturally.

    bro we never take cold shower before comp, u wanna keep the right amount of inflammation just before the race...

    • @hovejoha
      @hovejoha  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean with the right amount of inflammation?
      Also I'll do it long before when I wake up. This will increase body temp and wake me up earlier.

    • @jordanwatt5526
      @jordanwatt5526 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      look how it works: i used to do every day for 6 months ice cold shower and iam a sprinter too. BUT when u do that u dont let the inflammation make the right adaptations for ur body... maybe thats why ur pbs were the same for many years because u didnt let ur body to adapt. same happened with me when i did only cold shower i had no new pbs...
      so it works like this... for me for example i have 3 weeks hard training one week deload
      on deload u want to do cryotherapy and cold showers to let the body recover
      on hard days maybe foam rolling massage etc.
      hope this helps man!

      @@hovejoha also i have noticed u have a lot of muscle but u need to cut ur bodyfat to be leaner
      maybe try the keto diet bro
      lower the carbs

    • @hovejoha
      @hovejoha  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see how that makes sense, a little bit of cold water in the morning won't magically reverse training adaption.
      For you to say that is the reason for stagnation sounds pretty arrogant/ignorant to be honest.
      My biggest improvements have actually been when I have taken the most cold showers, but that does not mean I think it is directly related to my performance just for that reason.
      Also I don't think a keto diet is beneficial for sprinting/power performance.
