A bridge between Anchorage and Point Makenzie would establish a huge foundation for an untold amount of positive benefit and economic growth in the Valley. Absolutely an opportunity for the future. I found your channel about a day ago and i can tell this is an information bucket. Definitely a positive representation and information source for the cool inner workings within the anchorage and valley.
    Keep up the good work!

The state is supposed to release the final plan for the Parks Highway Wasilla bypass this spring.

Having the bridge between Anchorage and Point Mackenzie would also do two things, one alleviate the amount of traffic on the Glenn, and two provide a second route in and out of Anchorage. The Glenn is notorious for getting shut down due to accidents, especially in the winter, so having the bridge would be a second route. It would definitely cut down on travel time from Houston to Anchorage as well. But the Parks bypass is also needed. It would complete a high speed triangle of moving people and goods around.

I'd be ALL for 5-10 acres in Point Makenzie... and a 20-25min commute. Though I have one cautionary comment... whatever "town" per se that pops up over there needs to be planned right and not just a road with strip malls. Real towns with real small business districts/main streets matter! Sign me up!

Any discussion regarding mass development in the Mat-Su will end up incendiary, especially as in involves people who moved there to get away from the sprawling metropolis in so many other states. Personally, I find it unexplainable why anyone would want to live in a tract home on a 0.3-acre lot in the Valley, when those are plentiful in so many other places that have more temperate weather. I acclimated to the winters in order to live on a nice, private, peaceful, affordable piece of land in the Fairview/Big Lake area.

Those smaller, lower cost homes are for those who cannot afford anything else. It's not that they want to live there, (some do!) but it's what they can afford and they're grateful to be able to own their own home. Builders have to make something for everyone. Communities plan for all income levels. Sometimes these tract homes serve as a "starter home" that people can move up from. Other times, they serve as an affordable home for a senior who is down-sizing. It doesn't seem like too many folks realize that property is pretty cheap out here, and there's an alternative option to buy a lot and build a cabin or park a mobile home in it for the price of a zero lot/tract home. You gotta remember that a lot of folks come here from a big city outside and don't know about other options. They may not have enough $ to buy a lot or poor credit so they cannot get financing. Everyone's gotta live somewhere.
