Selling house in Missouri. Just had it looked at today. Myself. Moving to Alaska soon. I hope. I’m from Washington state. Thought I could separate from pacific and mountains. But myself can’t wait to move there. As far as cold? Try northern Michigan. Winter no joke there either

Shipping costs are not the only reason things are expensive, there's a lot of opportunistic behavior from businesses.

You could add HCOL and limited access to health care.

Good video, however you touched on the bulk of the issues. 1. It tepens on who you know. Alaska natives can find better jobs becomes they are Alaska native. 2. Disabilities. A lot of managers don’t hire many people with languages issues or they can’t move that good. 3. Alaska is a closed off society. People still know who are years after high school. 4. The apprentice ships is extremely selective on who they will talk on as an apprentice. IE other family members and close friends. The biggest companies in Alaska is retail, construction, government, and the military.

This is thoughtful, good information. I have to laugh at the "goods are odd" comment, I just thought single Alaskans were being themselves, or just unique individualists 😊! Anyhow, prices in the lower 48 are going up too, some items individually up $1 to $3! Thanks for the insight!

Yeah it is what it is up here lol And that's what I've been told! AK might actually become more affordable than most other people assumed very quickly.

Does Alaska allow you to put a manufactured home (new) on your own land? I know some states don't allow this. I tried looking for the info but did not find much. Thanks!

Manufactured homes are common in alaska, however, always pay attention to things like cc&r's or city/borough regulations where you live/plan to buy land. I know in my neighborhood my cc&r does not allow manufactured homes, which becomes important bc right now people are selling off chunks of their land so ppl are buying those up and building.

Thank you for the information. Is there any chance of Alaska changing for the better in housing, educational (higher learning) and job opportunities?

You know, it's all going to depend on the leadership. There's not a lot of leaders in AK at the moment who are thinking beyond the next election cycle, and that's the mindset you need to solve these problems.

I only been here for a year, and I'm about to leave . That's only because a democrat mayor got elected, and I'm not in the mood these years to pay sales tax , which they are pushing. I paid too much taxes in seattle , and felt like I contributed to the destruction of the country. I'm going to try texas or Florida , I love colder states but unfortunately, there are not a lot of colder red states . Also they're are talking about capitalizing on the nature he.e z I don't want to be around when that happens . It breaks my heart that they can't just leave nature be.

Sounds like you're already a seasoned Alaskan :) Even if you go, leave the door open to return. A lot of people do

I feel you about the Democrats. To what extent is Alaska capitalizing on the nature? There's endless acres of nature around the Alaskan parts?
Let me give you a tip about Texas. Texas is changing and not for the better. Migrants are still coming in and they are receiving everything to survive. Many Americans are pouring into Texas. Cities are crowded. Try to purchase a little land and live away from the hustle and bustle. It is hot as hell in Texas. I've heard bad things about Florida. Too many people from the Midwest moved into Florida and changed it for the worse as far as crime. If you move to Florida, it is best to work remotely. Florida pays very little for being such a beautiful place. Palm Coast was my go-to city, but not anymore. Good luck!

@karmathephoenix2474 thanks for the tips. I'm definitely still deciding. I love in here in Alaska . Very friendly people And I love the tight communty vibe. And im not sure how or what they will do , but it all starts with being able to "tame " land first. Aka making it look more man made. Or in other words, putting baby fences up for tourist who are idiots and want to feel " safe" in nature . I know this from experience in my small town when they started capitalizing on whidbey Island. Started seeing more fences and bright lights and man Made trails and that increased people coming in and beaches that felt more touristy then actual nature .
