    Doctor Micheal Mosley talks to Jeremy Vine about the importance of gut bacteria to our health.
    We really are what we eat; the western diet of carb-rich highly processed foods is the root cause of many of societies chronic diseases and ailments.
    In it’s simplistic form you should be looking to focus your diet on whole, ideally organic, unprocessed foods. Avoid refined sugars and fructose, and increase the amount of healthy fats in your diet.
    Dr Mosley is a self experimenting doctor and undertakes experiments on himself to back up the evidence he researches. He has been been interviewed by Doctor Mercola another advocate of functional medicine.

    Before anyone freaks out... Mice naturally eat each others' poo. Nothing particularly cruel or unusual about these experiments!

    How does a CS baby get his gut bacteria Dr. Michael?

  • @travismcgrath2403

    I think gut bacteria is a result and not a cause. If you provide your gut with the proper food the right bacteria will grow and optimize your results based on your food intake and eating habits. If you eat crap then your gut is not going to be an optimal place to live for the good bacteria we want to help us stay slim and healthy. You can eat all the fermented foods you want but if your diet is still not healthy or your eating habits are unhealthy then you gut bacteria is not going to be optimal. What and when we eat dictates the environment that will dictate which bacteria we grow. So as much as people are taking the gut bacteria route as a hopeful holy grail are not going to keep the results long term.

      Short term Fasting (say for a day) elevates Akermansia bacteria and also gives your intestinal lining a chance to recuperate.

    How can you tell if you are a grape person or an ice-cream person?
    Shouldn't any discussion on gut bacteria these days focus on how good gut bacteria can help in many diseases and not mainly on losing weight? Problem with these popularised-science sound bite interviews.

      Why?

    • @mayapanika105
      @mayapanika105 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      He didn't say that. Jeremy Vine, the radio host said he'd had *one* diet Pepsi, and described how it made him feel. Michael Mosely never mentioned diet soda at all.
