Color grading this is tricky because of that fluorescent light. It's all about finding a balance between it looking somewhat natural but still getting that gritty greenish/yellowish fluorescent look... I think it turned out pretty good. What do you think?
The grade looked cool man 🤟
You did great! Really moody and cinematic! 👏😊
Nice tutorial!
Hello! could you make some tutorials on how to do color grading without using log footage? most cameras dont have the capability to shoot in log, so I would really love it if you could do that.
This was super well explained. Sometimes I run into hickups trying to light darker scenes, but I think I'll nail it every time now🤘
Wow, I'm early!
Glad you're giving more lighting tips! Pretty sure that this shot could feel amazing after some small sound design like a running shower for example. That's one way of making the mist overlay work as well if you don't want to actually create steam in the bathroom while filming.
Great video! Easy setup, good tips! Thanks Joris ✌
Thank you so much for making this video! It changed the way I think about lighting inside and gave me some great ideas.
Most welcome! 🙏🏻
I love your explanation, good ideas, I would have liked how to make that greenish color, awesome!
That was super impressive and your hair looks nice! Waiting for more tutorials like this! 🔥
A short horror film I'm developing has a shot with this exact composition, so this is immensely helpful. Thank you.
Learned something new today! Thanks so much for this!
Welcome 💯💥
Gracias!! Siempre me pregunté como hacían en las películas para grabar cuando había muchas lamparas de por medio en la escena.
man just did almost a whole tutorial through the mirror
This is fantastic! I never thought of doing lighting this way. Thank you for posting, I'm gonna try this technique aasap!
Simple but Very helpful. Just like I like it 👍
I go potty in my bathroom. But when I do, I do it cinematically.
Actually this gives me some ideas for filming a diorama I’ve built for for action figures in my garage at my workbench.
Man, I even dream cinematically... 😅
@@JorisHermans Most of my cinematic journeys to the restroom turns into a Michael Bay film. Explosions, people running for their lives etc.
Thanks this was super helpful
great video, good example of work smart not hard.
Great explanation ❤
Can you make a video or short on how to shoot mirror videos like this or specifically a bathroom mirror scene or shot ?
Nice one. I'd like to see how it would work on the opposite side pointing back towards the camera and lighting the left of your face. Could be worth trying.
Gonna give it another try with my Canon M50 and all the tips from the comments 😎
Wow , looks great and pretty doable ))) I will have to try it for myself , thanks for the video !
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻💥
How do you “expose for the LED light instead of the fluorescent light?”
Interesting tip, thanks Joris :)
How you reduced exposure is it done in camera ? As im new can you please explain it
Nice short tip 🔥
Thank you so much for this, really really useful stuff🙌
Nice brooo!
What LED panel is that? You happy with it?
Amaran P60X. Excellent 👌🏻💥
Thanks so much for this Joris - such a cool idea.
My bathroom has a similar fluorescent light so I can't wait to give this a go.
I hope you're feeling better man - oh, and the hair rocked 🤟 #whereisjoriscap 😂
The hair is finally at a length at which it doesn't have a life of its own 😅
@@JorisHermans 🤣🤣 I know that feeling 🤦♂️😂
Damn this is cool
Can you tell for smartphone?
what LUT is that?
What color temperature was your key light? Thanks
4000K
How many watts for this led panel?
Brilliant video joris. Wow really impressed with that cinematic look. Can I ask what LUT you used? Was it the one that come in davinci resolve? That look reminds me of the movie Joker. Remember the scene where he looks in the mirror and puts his fingers in his mouth to force a smile. Exact same look in green lol
Yes exactly! 😄 I used Alister Chapman's Blockbuster LUT for S-log 3. I think it's still a free download on the Sony website.
@@JorisHermans Oh wow really? free, thanks for letting us know, i will have a look, its so joker like theme, i love it
Do you use the Zoom Recorder for all your audio? or was it just for in the bathroom as the camera was behind you?
For the studio shots I use an Oktava 012 plugged into the Zoom.
@@JorisHermans so can I ask why don't you go directly into your camera?
What white balace did you set on camera?
Wow very cool trick, thanks for sharing. I will definitely try it. Wondering how you managed your audio in the bathroom? It is crystal clear. Didn’t hear any echo at all, no bouncing sound?
Straight into my zoom H5 recorder... 👌🏻
how much lumens does the front light have ?
We schakelen nu over naar onze reporter ter plaatse..... #journalist 👏😆👌
😅 it' feels weird holding the recorder like that but it does make it easier to record sound on the go 👌🏻
What cheap light/softbox did you use? It doesn't look like the ones in your links...
No idea, it's a nameless panel I have but I used the softbox from my Amaran P60x panel so it's about the same size as that one...
Is it possible to get the lut somehow? :)
Dang Joris you look so different without a cap! What were the camera settings before and after? Did you just change the ISO?
It was time... 😅
I adjusted the variable ND filter to lower the exposure. Settings stayed exactly the same. Not sure what they were actually 🤔
@@JorisHermans Cool thanks!
Yes, I do know what you mean😏
🤫🙃
Very cool! Thanks, bro! Might be cool to throw up a flag for negative fill on the shadow side of your face. Great look!
Yep, was thinking the same afterwards! 🙏🏻
First! 👋
