That’s a common argument made by Holocaust deniers. The thing is, the victims dying from disease outbreaks or malnutrition still count as genocide as the Nazis enabled them to suffer those conditions by placing them in camps in the first place.
I work in a shop, I once said to a customer ‘aren’t we all just human beings?’ He said ‘that’s a very liberal attitude’. It’s liberal to believe/know we are all humans. It’s a very scary world
@spujpij I actually came up with a probable scenario for someone saying something like that after 10 secs. The customer is complaining about someone at the shop making a mistake, boom "aren't we all just human beings?" and I'm curious how it can possibly deligitimise differences when it means the exact oposite.
@spujpij Uh, fascists are definitely reactionary, they are trying to get back to a mythologised past which never really existed. Oh, they have revolutionary aspects to them, too, but they're very heavy on the reactionary themes which they then refract through a lens of pageantry (pomp and ceremony)
@@mduckernz This is true and all but I would like to point out there is zero point arguing with this guy. He's not about to change his mind and anyone who is "on the fence" about fascism is probably going to side with him. It's self-defense. Arguing with fascists legitimizes their views. They don't care about facts and logic and will just gish gallop dumbfounded opponents and look smart to dumb people.

A lot of people in concentration camps did starve to death, because they had to do very physically challenging slave labor and were given basically no food. So that dude is basically saying, yeah, it totally makes it better that a bunch of innocent people didn't get straight up killed but instead mistreated horribly until they died. What a great, rational person.
It says a lot that his opinion is basically "well at least we got some work out of them before we killed them based on their race, that makes things a whole lot better"
Imo forced labor/slavery is a worst thing to do to a person than just straight up killing them. They are both horrible but the dead no longer suffer while the enslaved will suffer some of the most painful existience one can have.
My dad's side of the family is polish and they moved away from Poland in the 40s cause. You Know. And my Dad told me an interesting anecdote when I was still in High School that goes like this: There are ten good men at a table. When people say Hitler was a "great artist," I wonder if they've seen much art. His paintings were fine. They were better than what I could do. But they're bland. He can't paint anything organic particularly well and his style is better suited to buildings. But he wasn't great at painting buildings, either, since his geometry and relative scales were often off. People that say he was a great painter are usually being edgy or just looking for something apolitical to compliment Hitler on. And "great writer?" Mein Kampf was a rambling mess. It's more of a barely-edited run-on rant than a proper book. It wasn't "great" by any stretch of the imagination unless you were sympathetic to those "ideas." And I say "ideas" with quotes because they were often too vague and inconsistent to be proper, well-fleshed-out ideas. They were more like broad concepts that had a nebulous, ill-defined form.
In particular, his paintings of buildings do not have a Vanishing Point, which is why the perspective feels so... off. The Vanishing point is a basic concept in painting, and his misuse or non use of it just shows how he did not know what he was doing.
@@Nanox19435 Yeah, his perspective is awful. On houses, none of his windows and doors line up and sometimes the buildings look like they're sliding down a hill. Why do people have to find things about Hitler to admire, to the point of pretending he was a good painter or writer?
@@emericswitch2718 Best-case scenario, the layman lacks skill in art so is incapable of seeing the flaws in a bad painting that isn’t kindergartener-scribble-level bad. (I can attest to this. Just a quick tip-in to say that you don't have to be one of these creeps to criticize Islam and it's close relationship with terror and violence. Fascism was in large part borne from extremist reactionary christianity and at this time a similar islamic version fascism is damaging civil society across the globe. Coexistence with such political forces is impossible and undesirable. Particularly in Iraq and Syria this came to a head with the Islamofascists taking up arms and rounding up jews and shackling women to beds. Exactly, it’s someone using humor to express pride in their ignorance. It kind of makes you want to not respond to them at all because they’ve articulated that they don’t care about changing their mind off of new evidence.
Steven uses sources from both sides when researching issues. Anyway, how does distasteful humor have any link to not changing your mind based on "new evidence"? Are all of Crowder's "attempts to be funny" in this "negative humor" category also? The impressions, everything? How about when he makes a point backed by logic but does an impression while doing it, does that also widen the hole in your heart? lol.
@@RSLCarkey It's not necessarily his sources, it's his approach. He kind of resembles John Oliver whenever he talks about Trump. For me it was his video that was a response to someone trying to explain Marxism. He would interject, throw in some really weird talking points, make logical leaps that made no sense, make no attempt to understand what the person was trying to say and overall just be proudly ignorant, doing nothing to learn what the video was trying to tell him. For instance, the Marxism guy said that Karl Marx felt that the contemporary work was dehumanizing and that people would get discontent over that, that he thought a world where people were more in tune with their work was better. Crowder responded by saying that this is why Communism lent itself so easily to genocidal murders like Mao or Stalin. Of course, I highly doubt he has any evidence for this. Then the original video talked about how Marx wanted to abolish private property, to which Crowder said "so you know your laptops or smartphones you're using right now? Marx wants those owned by the state". Of course that's not what abolishing private property means nor what Marx meant. It meant house and land ownership in an attempt to combat large estates and keep a landed elite from dominating. Neither Marx nor Marxists care about your smartphone. Most of his videos are like this, sometimes they get incoherent and difficult to understand, and it's frustrating when he gets basic facts wrong. The humor just drives it home that not only is he ignorant, he just doesn't want to know more because he thinks he knows everything. It's odd, because he clearly puts little effort into his scripts, it's mostly rambling against people who can't respond. However the production values are a bit better, like if he put in the effort to actually read a book on Communism he could make a much more informed video. Instead he just churns out crap because it sells. It really is just missing a research team so he could have people who know what they're talking about research his bits for him.

@@RodrigoroRex not to mention the way the US govt just strolled onto Mexican land and was like: “aight this is mine now” and started killing brown people. as they tend to do
@@RodrigoroRex yeah. Their origin stories are pretty different, which is part of the reason their governments are different. The Spanish model of colonization was the Spanish government being a helicopter parent for their colonies. They put a lot of authority in the mainland (European Whites were superior in the racial caste system to even Whites born in the colonies) and exploited the colonies as dry as they could. Central Mexico and the Andes in Peru were rich in gold and silver and had other valuable resources. Also, the Spanish limited settlement of the colonies to try to maintain their strict racial hierarchy. This led to an inability for the colonies to develop a free market or democracy, and thus, fall to dictatorship. The English model of colonization was "we'll let the colonists do pretty much whatever they want as long as they pay their taxes," also known as salutary neglect. All of their settler colonies (colonies founded as new societies built from the ground up) developed democracy even though English commoners weren't used to democracy, and that's despite England probably being the most democratic country in Europe at the time). The conquest colonies (colones founded via conquest of an existing empire) had a lot more exploitation of natives and a harder time at developing democracy, but it still had some influence. The colonies still had the issue of trade being controlled by Britain, but until after the 7 Year's War, the Thirteen Colonies pretty much governed themselves. Britain started putting more control on those colonies after the war to try to pay off their huge war debt and prevent rebellions in the territory they got rights to at the end of the war. All of that allowed the US to have a somewhat functional and stable democracy as well as a free market economy.

Attacking them is the worst thing you can do though because it moves them further to the right. And most people become less reachable, less receptive to what another person is saying when they are on the defensive. As someone who has been on that side and understands how appealing the beliefs are (especially to confused, depressed or angry guys) you could help. People are generally more willing to listen when there is a shared background, shared experiences. You are in a good place to help by talking about how you were pulled in and what you saw over time and how it affected you. It will be much easier for other guys to listen without immediately going on the defensive or disregarding what you're saying because you speak the same language, you have that commonality of experience. You will also have more empathy for them because you've been in their shoes. You don't have to do this, but if you do I think you'd have more success than someone who hasn't been through what you have. I wish you all the best.
That's the nature of the racket: Pulling in impressionable, young men who are looking for guidance and a father figure with genuinely helpful advice, and then slowly, almost subliminally exposing them to the ideology. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. And of course it's best to indoctrinate people before the age of 25, when their brain is still really plastic and receptive to new information, which is why the advice is geared towards young people.

@Ramses77 Two things regarding Yang's VAT, the first one is that it will exclude consumer staples like cheaper food and clothing. The second thing is that anyone currently on welfare will get an increase in the amount proportional to the VAT, so they are no worse off just in case they happen to buy something that isn't excluded from it. Don't polarize people like man, just because someone used to run a business (Venture for America was a non-profit at that) doesn't mean they must want nefarious things. Besides, since a VAT is the only type of tax that corporations can't dodge, and a tax that increases proportionally with economic growth, and how else are we going to get the rich to pay their taxes? That's one thing though, I always get the notion that Fed's infiltrate extremist groups and do their best to push them to the edge and catch them as they're about to pull off an attack. Like they tell them how to build a bomb, give them fake materials and then arrest them as they try to set it off, all of course after months of trying to get them to do so by trying to promote violent discourse in these groups. This has happened in real life but it always seemed like entrapment to me.
@@TheDirtysouthfan it does happen, but it's not entrapment. The short version is, if they already had the ultimate idea beforehand, regardless of how far they get into carrying them out. A recent example, last summer a guy in one of the Midwestern states was killed in a shootout with the FBI while trying to buy components to make a bomb with which he intended to blow up a hospital to "prove" that Covid was a hoax. The FBI didn't tell him to build a bomb or blow up a hospital, he simply went googling for information on how he would achieve that, and ran into a sting operation that was already set. He made the all the actual decisions, up to the point where he decided he'd rather die than go to jail. Entrapment would be if that guy had been walking down the sidewalk minding his own business, and an undercover FBI whispered to him from an alley, "hey kid, you should build a bomb and blow up a hospital. Here, take these bomb components and get 'er done!" That kind of thing has happened before, but is exceedingly rare. The story of John Delorean's drug bust, for example.

And when we unpack it , it is obvious the idiot that wrote it has a very fluid definition of tolerance which is inconsistent and dependent on their approval of what is to be tolerated . Typical liberal logic .
@@Heracles_FE Tolerance never includes any obligation to tolerate bad behavior. It is about tolerating and accept who people are not how they behave or act on beliefs. If you say "fuck liberal swines", I wouldn't see that as intolerant, you are just attacking a political opinion. However if you do the same for gay people or an ethnic group etc. it is intolerant, since you are attacking them for what they are, not for what they believe or do. We should of course tolerate people with different political opinions, but we should not tolerate people expressing opinions that attack someone for what they are (the parts about themselves that they cannot change). This is a consistent and fairly simple definition of intolerance. Do you understand it better now? Humans share 99% of DNA across all of humanity but have minor phenotypical differences in skin tone and facial features. When the people we call "white" began to colonize and enslave other humans in the past couple hundred years they needed a way to dehumanize those people and contrast themselves against them and thus our modern conception of race was born, before then there were no "white" people, there were French, English, Polish, etc. The term "white" was only made for people of European ancestry to congregate power to wield against those considered nonwhite, a perfect example of this is Irish and Italian people; they were not considered white when they began migrating to the united states and were kind of considered like light-skinned black people but when the dominant white power group of the country feared the Irish and Italians allying with black slaves, they allowed the Italians and Irish people to enter the white hegemony, people of other racial groups can't just envelop those of different racial groups into their own like that, meaning that whiteness plays by different rules. When someone of prominent European ancestry talks about white identity or white nationalism or white pride they are really talking about power to wield over others, they are talking about supremacy.

The progressive and socialist left of this shattered region united to oppose them and were the principal footsoldiers in the confict against the Islamic State and their associates, creating a model progressive democratic state in Northern Syria in the process. Solidarity for Rojava.

Ethnoracism, anti-humanist rhetoric and glorification of violence and suffering abound. I'd go as far as to say that in terms of scripture Christianity is actually worse, probably because it came even earlier in history.

Here's the thing most people who scream "FREEDOM OF SPEECH" the moment someone calls them out on their bigotry don't get: Freedom of Speech *ONLY* implies that you will not suffer legal repercussions for anything you say. The government cannot use your speech to fine or jail you. What other private citizens do in response of your speech, however, is their bussiness, and while people are entitled to their speech, they're not entitled to a platform.

Stephen Crowder's attempts to be funny are what I call "Negative humor"
It makes me go back in time and "unlaugh" at things I genuinely found funny
in other words, anytime Crowder tries making a joke, it widens the gaping hole in my heart and makes me feel like I've stared into the abyss

I mean, they're not too far apart...

The best you can get out of that community is the occasional piece of advice, which is not said in good faith and is very much hypocritical the worst you're gonna get is quite literally advocating for genocide. Thank you for sharing your story. I think if you had commented closer to the time the video first came out you would have gotten more responses and a great deal of encouragement. You deserve that encouragement and a lot of support.
I've run into people who were in your situation. It's difficult not to get into arguments with them especially when they repeat the things they've heard and learned or use those things to harm others.
That’s something to be proud of man, thanks for sharing! :)

Wealth taxes don't work because they always find a way around it, so this is the best option I see right now. By responding to them youre giving fuel to their fire and giving them a chance to reply to you with a bunch of easy to digest but wrong talking points, the best course is to give them no platform, dont interact with their post and discourage others from doing so, they like when people reply to them with in depth explanatation of why theyre wrong, because they enjoy replying to your long in depth paragraph with talking down to you and regurgitating another poorly made talking point, and people reading will start to think "oh, one person is writing very long paragraphs and seem kinda mad, and the other person is saying very short messages that are way easier to understand"

"Oh, those feds constantly monitoring the website? Not a big deal, you can spot them from a mile away. As you were." I can only hope that they're just monitoring and not sincerely contributing, I guess.
The Feds are there because they are posters who agree, trust.

Let's start with the seamless transition from tolerate to protect , as if they are synonyms. Then we could inspect the whole of the meaning behind the statement.

@@westonmeyer3110 Because "whiteness" isn't conceived of like other racial groups by design.
