Thanks Vincent. Yep, as Adi8 said, it's been very hot here lately. 2 extremes. I'm looking forward to winter arriving, but our winter isn't as cold as yours. In fact, out winter us a bit like your summer. Haha
That was unreal mate, well done. The cod numbers are picking up nicely there! Give it a few years and you'll be pulling legal ones out of there I reckon
That was worth the drive. The reddies we’re definitely respectable and a cod is a cod is truely awesome out of Buffalo and you got 5 in one trip. Imagine with me for a moment …… cod fishing at Buffalo in 20 years time 🤔 catching those fish you released - that’ll be pure heaven. They’ll hopefully be pulling them out by the meter. How good are those views of the mountains. Gods country. We’ll done on such a great Thanks for sharing Love your work Healthy habits
Thanks Moo Moo. It really is shaping up to be a mini Lake Eildon. I've seen photos of 90cm cod caught there already. Over sized and protected. It's going to be a ripper. I wonder if they would grow that big that fast if the redfin were not there?
I fished Lake Buffalo so much when I was younger growing up in the area. It's amazing how much you take the scenery for granted. I always knew it was a beautiful place, but seeing your vid with Mt Buffalo in the background just bought back how lucky I was to have this in my backyard. My dad always referred to the island as Mongan's Island. I'm guessing someone by this name owned the land before it was bought out to fill the lake.
Rippa sesh mate. how good is the work that the victorian fisheries are doing. looks like those cod are healthy they all looked well feed. i reckon we will see some more big ones in coming years
great job Robbie, nice cod. you were smashing them🎉. i went to a private river to go fishing for cod on surface lures yesterday and the cod were on fire, I was smashing them they seem to be biting lately, if you have the chance you should try fishing early morning in a river with surface lures.👍
Hey Robbie, if you are game to fish in you kayak in the Buffalo River below the dam, you will find some really deep holes and long stretches of calm water. I caught a red fin three times (at least 45/50 cm) bigger than the ones you caught on the lake; mind you that was in the 1960's
Hi Otto, WOW That is awesome. I rememb3r back in the day, catching redfin and trout in the river directly below the lake. It is more if a Murrau cod and trout cod fishery these days in the lower Buffalo River.
Hi Robbie, I went fishing at lake Glenmaggie with my dad and a friend, we got 5 redfins and 1 carp in 2 hours. It was our first time for redfin, we used soft plastics is that the best lure? But where would you recommend fishing for murry cod in victoria and what should we use? Thanks and keep up the good vids.
Hi mate, sounds like you had a ripper time. Lake Eildon is probably the number 1 Murray cod fishing lake, and all known cod lures will work there mate. 👍
Beautiful spot mate! If you ever get asked why you went fishing there say "just codz" I was worried when you got the budgie smuggler out tho...thought it might be abit on the chilly side for that lol
I haven't had it happen mate but it 100% could happen, and may well have happened to other people. I saw a mate have something similar happen once. He was reeling in a blackfish when a big trout grabbed it. Haha
@@robbiefishing I see, it's no wonder your brake settings seem so stiff but your line doesn't seem to get hindered by a connecting knot when you cast! Not to mention that lighter lures tend to give that problem on BCs. Thanks mate!
There were 3 other boats there on the day I filmed this video, but thats OK by me. I was up there chasing redfin this morning and there were a few people on the water. Most were duck shooting.
Hi mate, Murray cod are a native fish here and redfin aren't. Most people love to catch redfin, but they only grow small. Redfin are a great table fish, but Murray cod grow to well over a meter (3 foot) long and are a prime sportfish.
brucemeek It’s legal to release them into the water they were caught in, plus the Murray Cod feast on them, so it will be good for the future populations of cod in the lake.

Robbie catches more fish in one video than I have in 10+ hours of fishing. Good on you mate!
Haha thanks mate. Don't stress though, I have plenty if 10 hour sessions where I catch nothing too. LOL

Those Redfin were a good size. good job mate

Wow, I'm so jealous of your weather. It's snowing here in Ireland where I live, and it's cold. You're out on the water. Jealous.

An underrated lake I think! Not alot of people seem to go there specifically! It's always Eildon or Hume etc!
I think this is very similar to Eildon, but a lot further for many people to travel to.
