Thanks so much Warren. The best time to fish Lake Buffalo is from March to May. All of Autumn. I catch reddies there in summer but the bigger ones seem to be more frequent on April and May.

We used to get em like that out of the Mitta river back in 1976 before the dam went in. Mum and Dad owned the Mitta store.If you went fishing Sunday you ate fish for tea that night. Guaranteed. 👍

Being inspired by your fishing lake Buffalo tinny fishing and the 2 mtr swell at home. (Bairnsdale). I headed over Hotham with my tinny and my dog. Approximately 100m of trawling had my first ever Murray Cod in the boat. 50cm and released. Spent the rest of the day dodging ski boats looking for more Cod. Sunday morning trawling for redfin. Found a school of 30cm ish and quickly filled the esky. Threw about 20 back and kept 22 at 30cm.
WOW Jim that is excellent, well done on the reddies and the cod. If you head towards the top of the lake you can het away from the ski boats. The whole top half of the lake is subject to a 5 knot speed limit.
I’m soooo jealous! I wanted to go fishing today but ended up spending the day on a steam cleaner which is not fun. Great video mate, glad you boys got to go have a phenomenal day on the lake.

far out some good size perch looks like u had a great time with ur dad. i remember having a great perch session at the change of light where i was hooking up every cast within 1 hour. the softbait literally got destroyed so badly i had to replace it haha so cool how you used that yabby as livebait and got hammered. we have freshwater crays in nz too but its illegal to use them as livebait in freshwater
Hey Robbie. I just watched an old video. Fishing for rainbow trout in a clear stream. You were with Rowan. At 1min and 59 seconds something skips/hops down the right side of the bank. What on earth was that???
was that a redfin farm robbie to catch a fish by its tail tells me theres alot of fish in there and you didint catch any other species. this was a great video a little jelous of how many redfin you caught that is like my dream fishing day. well done have an awesome day mate :)
Wow wow wow. If I ever get my hands on a time machine I’m going straight back to whenever this was filmed and hopping on your boat and joining this un believable fishing trip!!! Holy smokes that’s just insane, they were some of the biggest reddies I’ve seen in a while aswell. Also I normally work saturdays and that only leaves Sunday’s for me to do stuff, and I normally hang out with friends on that day. So I haven’t been fishing in about a month and that means I can’t film videos and fish like I really want to. I really want a long weekend to come. 😔 (Sorry for the long comment)

Mate nice vid, again. I've Been watching your channel probably 2 years now and whilst I haven't wet a line for more than 10 years I can't recall fish unhooking themselves as much as seems to happen to you! Are you using barbless hooks?
good session :) are redfins native to australia? cause they look identical to the european Redfin Perch. decent perch though. caught my record last year in my favorite lake, 54 cm and 3,3 kilos. on a 0-4 gram rod. now that was fun ^^ cause if they are the same speicies, then i got some tips for ya! especially regarding the times where you cant get them. they are very sensitive to airpressure, due to the fact that unlike most fish, they cant regulate pressure in their swimbladder proper. so the magic limit seems to be airpressure abot 1009. bellow it and they are extremely hard to get at.

Robbie ol mate when I used to fish redfin in a lake in SA we used to put small redfin under a float bout 2M below float & cast it out in the deep water * the biggest redfin I caught this way was approximately 45 ish cm
Hi Dave, that is a beautiful fish. You may nit believe this, but on this trip I caught a tiny redfin. I Decided to put a hook through its back and lower it back down. LOL. Out of habit, I threw the fish back in the lake, the went on to completely re-rig my bait rid with a lather hook and sinker, and then looked down and said "Where did I put that small redfin". Haha 🤣🤣🤣

Went trawling for Trout up there about 50 years ago, we went to the back of the lake, up the rivers.

Robbie ol mate when I used to fish redfin in a lake in SA we used to put small redfin under a float bout 2M below float & cast it out in the deep water * the biggest redfin I caught this way was approximately 45 ish cm
Hi Dave, that is a beautiful fish. You may nit believe this, but on this trip I caught a tiny redfin. I Decided to put a hook through its back and lower it back down. LOL.
Out of habit, I threw the fish back in the lake, the went on to completely re-rig my bait rid with a lather hook and sinker, and then looked down and said "Where did I put that small redfin". Haha 🤣🤣🤣
