    Hi, love the videos what unit did you fit first for scribing and placing 👍👍

      Thanks Paul 👍 glad you liked the video! I scribed the wardrobe unit first and then the lower cupboards. I did measure up and dry fit a few times to get it right 😅

    Hi what was the best way you fixed your cabinets to the van walls/floor to ensure there is no movement when driving? :-) we have purchased some L shaped brackets and planned on using those to secure it, it's also not easy getting into the cabinets to fix them down!! needing to be super skinny and double jointed !!!

      Hey Angela! So I don’t know if this was the “best” way but the way I did it was use furniture blocks (link below)
      I think L brackets will be OK too… the furniture blocks were pretty easy… and I am neither skinny or double jointed 😀
      Also I used self tapping screws was easier to screw in… I used about three on the bottom to the floor and then two or three to the back of the cabinets… Also the units are attached to each other too…
      They are really solid when driving no movement etc…
      Let me know how you get on 👍

      @@TransitCustomCamper ah yes I know what you mean, yep also using self tapping screws, the L brackets are solid too but you can never be too careful 🤣

    hi how did you know where to punch the hole in the cardboard for your pencil

      I measured the widest point between the furniture and the van and this seemed to do the trick! Might be some other more detailed videos on scribing out there as I know mine is basic. As wouldn’t want you to ruin and nice expensive van furniture if I am not 100%! All the best 👍

    Have you changed it to a camper on logbook?

      Hi Team Bee 🐝 Not yet no.. it’s on my list… I needed to check the latest criteria and process. I have heard some feedback that people not getting them back as motor caravan and getting panel van with windows or just getting it back exactly the same! So will do a little more research and let you know 👍

    Just found your channel, I'm doing a Transit Custom conversion too! Did you seal up trims on the side of the doors?
    They are known to let water in and can play havoc with your insulation!

      Hi - thanks for the message! How is your conversion going? Which trims do you mean? I haven’t done anything yet? Hopefully I haven’t missed a trick here!! If you could let me know what you mean I can check and thank you in advance 👍

      @@TransitCustomCamper My conversion is a slow and steady one, I'm still using it for work too so everything gets shifted and moved around lots.
      The trims are on the bottom third of the doors and load area of the van, on the limited spec they are the same colour as the van body. They are clipped on through the outer skin of the van. Take off a door panel inside and look down the bottom, you should see some white clips coming through. These leak because the little seals get blocked with dirt etc, and let water in.
      It's a problem in the transits, ducatos and sprinters. They just push off from the inside, and you can seal around the clips with some polyurethane sealant. I did mine before deadening and they haven't leaked yet 👍

      @@corneliusencyclopedia39 - that’s great advice thank you! I will take a look and hopefully be able to get it sorted 😀

    Thanks for this video. It will come in handy when I attempt mine. What do you do about your yellow door restrictors as I guess they could hit the back of the wardrobe. It seems the options are 1) Remove them. 2) Try to remember to "clip" them to the door before closing. 3) Make a hole on the wardrobe to accept the restrictor.

      No worries thanks for checking out the videos 👍 most common thing I see if they don’t fit it to cut a hole into the wardrobe so you can retain them for safety. I have seen you can get after market gas struts items that are thinner and that could be option too? Good luck with your build 👍

    Hey dude. Enjoying the videos esp as I'm now on with my conversion. Got a question for you. These units you've built, how did you secure them to the van?

    • @TransitCustomCamper
      @TransitCustomCamper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey - thanks for the comment and glad you enjoying the vids 👍 I used furniture blocks to attach to the floor and also l brackets with self tapping screws to attach to the double skin metal work in several places. I also used furniture blocks again to attach to ply walls for a bit of extra security. Been in 18 months now and no issues etc 👍

    Did you find scribing the smaller unit harder? Thanks 👍🏻

    • @TransitCustomCamper
      @TransitCustomCamper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris - from memory I don’t think the smaller unit needed to be scribed.. as it sat more or less flush under the window.. I did have to cut away a section so it cleared the wheel arch but I just cut this square to clear it 👍
