Ranking the GREATEST Footballers of All-Time (Who Aren't the GOAT)

- We are never too far away from football's 'GOAT' debate. The greatest of all-time is certainly a subjective decision but we've tried our best to sort it out! Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, Pele and Cristiano Ronaldo are all secure in their 'GOAT' status but what about football's next 10 greats? Where do they deserve to be ranked in football's incredible history?

Considering its almost impossible to compare a great defender to a great forward but they're still on the list, I think there should be goalkeepers on the list too. One of Buffon, Neuer, Casillas or Yashin
I also think Platini belongs in the conversation for best of the rest. For my money he's the best French player ever.
Good points!
To be honest I'd put
Zidane, Cryuff, R9 and Puskas in my ELITE category for the way they defined expectations and their influence beyond the game of football.
Very good points! Puskas our favourite!
Cruyff the one who could join the GOAT tier for me
Out of those you have listed (I would remove the underrated category though):
Goat: Messi, Pele
Legend: Maradona, di Stefano, Cruyff, CR7
Iconic: Beckenbauer, R9, Puskas, Eusebio
Best of the rest: Charles, Best, Maldini, Zidane
Having Zidane but not Platini, Garrincha, Yashin (just to have a gk) is crazy!
Yeah good shout on Yashin definitely
Puskas - so good
Maldini in best of the rest!???
Absurd 😂😂😂😂😂 considering what he has done for the game both at club and international level and the amount of players he's inspired during and after his playing career and they speak highly of him. Name me another player in the modern game who's number has been retired and never worn again?! EXACTLY.
The amount of honours he's won being pivotal player in almost every single one of them. Has never been displaced off the starting line up throughout his club career, no scandals of sorts, a consummate professional and a great example of how an athlete must carry themselves.
My approximate ranking
Messi
Pele
Maradona
CR7
R9
Di Stefano
Beckenbauer
Cruyff
Puskas
Zidane
Platini
Muller
Garrincha
Maldini
Van Basten
Eusebio
Socrates
Iniesta
Xavi
Romario
Charles
Charlton
Best
Zico
Yashin
Ronaldinho
Probably missing some obvious ones. You definitely should have included Plainti- mad under rated because people don’t like him now (fair enough)
Some pause on having R9 and Van Basten so high, hard to judge because of injuries. Without injuries I think R9 is easy top 4 and Van Basten is easy top 10. Call me biased but George Best shouldn’t be this high. He had 5 legendary season then basically gave up playing football at age 28 and pissed around in the South African and USA leagues. Amazing peak but zero longevity and doesn’t have the trophy cabinet to back up Top 10 status.
It’s really nice to see fellow fans brought up in the Premier League era that actually appreciate the history of the game, don’t think football was created in 92, don’t think Pele played against farmers and don’t think contemporary players like Neymar and Ibra belong in all time debates while everyone before 1980 played in ‘weak eras’
Thanks mate - yeah some good shouts there - we deliberated on Platini and Van Basten before we started as they were our next two. Charlton just missing out as well!
Garrincha and Muller also very much in contention
@@TFHBsHonourable mentions to guys like Clarence Seedorf, Andrea Pirlo, Gullit, Rijkaard.
@@creative_soul-recoloRonaldo. Ether than maradona and pele and Messi his the greatest by far
