Amazing video and tips. I believe if you in the process of being a music producer/musician for streaming then making what you want works but if you are producer that sell beats online as a main Passive income then definitely making what you audience wants is gonna benefit you way more.
Thanks bro! Honestly so good that youre making these videos for the community. Did you take any stimulants n shit like adderall to get productive or focused at times?
I have not, I stay away from that, I’m afraid I’d like it too much. The best way to stay focused from my experience is to treat it like a muscle. When you go and run the first time after you haven’t done anything active, you’re winded in 30 seconds, but if you force yourself to do a little more each day and be more intense, eventually you can run for 30 mins. Hey Dilly - love your work...I've been paying for Beatstars promotion and I'm getting a lot of likes and more followers, but zero sales. Do you know if there's a ballpark idea of when/if these likes get translated into sales? Not sure whether to cancel the promotions because I'm losing money or keep them going and gain more likes and followers that will likely turn into sales some time down the line.
th-cam.com/video/ZDveW7RhQ8o/w-d-xo.html in this video he says to invest only what you’re comfortable losing and to wait at least a month to see if the promo is working.
Honestly, you could probably start watching a handful of my videos and KXVI's and you can get some good info on people's journey and you can pick up a few different approaches
Have you only posted the beats on your channel? Most people say their beats are good, and they usually aren't, but yours are pretty good. I think you just haven't been at it long enough. It took me 18 months to blow up
The worst part for me is that even after months of consistent uploads I never feel like I'm breaking the algorithm and when I got lot of views it does not get many sales at all... Might start another genre maybe...
So the important thing is that you're serving a very specific group of artists. And then once you have that nailed upload as much as possible. If I could post an absolute banger, 10x a day I would, that's not realistic, but the more highly targeted, high quality beats you can post, the better.
I love this question bro. I never talk about it online, but fitness and nutrition is a big part of my life. So I would buy a 50lbs bag of brown rice for $17 that would last me about two months if I’m remember correct. Then I would buy chicken for protein, about $15 a week for the big pack, then I would get two containers of peanuts for $3 a piece that would last me a week. I would also get a healthy greens flavors v8 everyday that costs like $2. So that covered protein, carbs and fats and was like 2500+ calories a day for a total of around $150 a month
I’ve been uploading everyday for a year and a half, and I feel as though I’ve done everything right besides sticking to one niche. I feel as though I moved away from my niche that got me views and I’m now stuck in a no mans land in a sense that my old niche doesn’t get me as many views but neither does my new stuff. I plan on continuing regardless but any advice on how to move forward ?
Sounds like you know the problem. You have to think about it from the artists stand point. How many artists do you love where you're like "I miss the old _______" you have to build a reputation as the guy who does ______ (Whatever niche you pick). You have to become known for something, in music production, it's a feeling/vibe, and when you do that, you can just double down and improve that and people will respond well. You can build any style you want, just not every style you want, so pick the style you want to build and stay disciplined. And every time you jump remember, you're starting from zero all over again with every jump
@@DillyDGIB yeah you’re absolutely right, didn’t come this far to give up either. I just don’t understand how those big channels that have posted really varied beat styles have managed to get so many views haha it’s an amazing achievement
@@remdolla Do you have examples? I know of a few, but from what I've noticed is that they built an audience on a certain sound and then they got fans who just liked them as producers and that allows them to do whatever they want.
@@DillyDGIB my bro yogic beats comes to mind, stoic, versus. I think they had niche beats but doesn’t look as if they had to lock it down on one as much as it feels like you need to nowadays
@@remdolla Facts, yeah all legends. They are all really good too.
Do you upload all your beats to both TH-cam and beat stars? If so, how do you keep people from not ripping TH-cam audio and ultimately getting it for free?
I upload all that get finished to beatstars, not all to youtube. Beatstars doesn't punish for going out of your lane or a bad beat, TH-cam does so I have to be careful.
Not as bad as I used to though, it does get better over time, I quit doing the math every few hours of what I'm on pace for and I just check my sales daily to confirm on the right track.
@@DillyDGIB yea bro I gota look at it like I used to make 2k a month working in a factory full time so I just did like 18k since I quit in July , I would have made like 10k working there if I never quit so I’m still up 8k by selling beats full time so I can’t complain at all!
that's inspiring, man! keep it up bro! can you give me some tips on how to increase your sales? I see you don't have a big TH-cam channel to get those numbers in sales. Do you use Instagram? if yes then what strategy do you follow? Thanks!
@@prod_zelby I just make relationships with artist honestly I have about 100 artists who rock with me getting a beat or few every month or so off of me they all all up in sales I did 6400 for the month of December. Gods favor honestly man
That's easy, there's so much to learn it's overwhelming in my opinion. I just try to go and find people that I respect and listen to them or talk to them if I can. There's so much on youtube you can just pick up new stuff all the time. Make sure to have a good filter, before you take advice. Like I ask myself "would I be happy if I had this person's skill in this area?" and if the answer is yes, then I take what they say as fact and apply it.
I mean if it's someone you're interested in working with, just hit them with the follow, I would say I'm less likely to respond if I see they're not following me, but if they have songs/credits I like then that's all that matters and I'll check out their stuff.
How do I find a great producer name? My current name is Kotape, it was just a username I used and it’s pretty unique. I’m kind of in between trying to reach a perfect name that probably will never happen but also making sure that it feels personal enough to stick with.
Do you think that serving more than one niche can still be successful? I'm not talking about being all over the place with keywords, but maybe upload 4-5 different types of beats..
how different? you can kind of hover around the same lane, to an extent, but you'll be better the more specific you are, assuming that there's a big enough market for that niche in the first place.
Views have been down for about a year and a half for me, but luckily I've adapted and have used beatstars and email marketing to keep them at a decent level even though I don't have the views I used to.
@@Desirezbeats maybe, it would have to be clickable. Let me know if you have some good title ideas haha. I can give you my strategy. You just treat it like another social network. Think about what you can do for them. It is work, it's not like there's this secret way to write words, or some hack. I just send people free beats once a week (thinking about going twice). And then then I link my store and update about sales. I'm going to start doing research on how to gain traction as an artist and start doing a newsletter as well. People end up doing projects with the free beats and then they'll usually cop a few from my store that they really like, it's a win/win
I'm trying to think about how to do a daily email that is truly valuable, I think that would increase sales more than my channel. I do have a list of 30k people though
I know you said you created a new Instagram page dedicated to music. I converted my old insta account into my producer page a few years ago and have grown it quite a bit. Keep going like I am or still better to start new?
I'd say a lot, there's a lot of big rappers that I've worked with that I've haven't really continue to build with, some I have. Some of my TH-cam videos and beat releases have not performed well, and my channel views have fluctuated. I'm not sure how to know when it's time to pivot, but sometimes it becomes clear that a change is necessary after repeatedly hitting a wall.
Yer what's up fam thanks for this video! where do you recommend we start studying the TH-cam algorithm and get in the right "boat". I have a type beat channel right now on this account and I've been dropping pretty consistently since June of 2022. I did notice though when I was being consistent with my uploads my views were a lot higher I kinda slowed down this past 2 months picking back up in December after uploading almost daily . I would appreciate any feedback !
Just looked at your channel real quick. I would recommend staying in the PND lane, and work on improving that style, and find a thumbnail style that is unique to your vibe and stick with it, so people can instantly recognize it's you and then just work on getting a few new die hard subs everyday and if you do that you'll grow over time.
@@DillyDGIB I needed that I make reggaton and rage/hyperpop beats too I want to drop them on this channel also I feel the growth on those is bigger than trap beats! what do you think? Thanks again I need that consulate lmao I be in the discord too bro !
not right now, as far as I know. The game is different, the algorithms are different. I think there's probably less total views on type beats as well. The economy is also impacting stuff across the board.
@@KYDUH I agree and who knows what the algorithm's are going to do in the next few years. I'm personally focusing on mastering beatstars and trying to get better at that and an email list, because that's much less fragile than the algorithm.

Congrats bro, that's fire! And yes lol, every single month for the last 3 years
Not as bad as I used to though, it does get better over time, I quit doing the math every few hours of what I'm on pace for and I just check my sales daily to confirm on the right track.
Gods favor honestly man
How do you keep growing your musical skills ?
That's easy, there's so much to learn it's overwhelming in my opinion. I just try to go and find people that I respect and listen to them or talk to them if I can. There's so much on youtube you can just pick up new stuff all the time. Make sure to have a good filter, before you take advice. Like I ask myself "would I be happy if I had this person's skill in this area?" and if the answer is yes, then I take what they say as fact and apply it.
@@DillyDGIB thanks for your answer !
What are your thoughts on hitting up producers on IG to send loops for collabs and not following them on Insta? You think it looks fake?
I mean if it's someone you're interested in working with, just hit them with the follow, I would say I'm less likely to respond if I see they're not following me, but if they have songs/credits I like then that's all that matters and I'll check out their stuff.
@@DillyDGIB Appreciate the response!
How do I find a great producer name? My current name is Kotape, it was just a username I used and it’s pretty unique. I’m kind of in between trying to reach a perfect name that probably will never happen but also making sure that it feels personal enough to stick with.
To be honest you could pick any name you want and just build it up. You make the name, not the other way around. You could run with Kotape
What’s the longest stretch where views and sales were down for you ?
Views have been down for about a year and a half for me, but luckily I've adapted and have used beatstars and email marketing to keep them at a decent level even though I don't have the views I used to.
Maybe a email marketing video next 🤔
Have you got a discord server dilly would love to join if so! 🦇
I do, I'm working on being more active. I'm going to try to get in there everyday. discord.gg/GeNcTg3t
@@DillyDGIB appreciate that!
I know you said you created a new Instagram page dedicated to music. I converted my old insta account into my producer page a few years ago and have grown it quite a bit. Keep going like I am or still better to start new?
Yeah I just did that for my own mindset, nothing wrong with converting, It was just a new chapter and I wanted to keep it separate
What opportunities didn’t pan out for you? And what are some signs that it’s time to pivot?
Is anyone still making 40k a month? I’m stuck at 8k a month
not right now, as far as I know. The game is different, the algorithms are different. I think there's probably less total views on type beats as well. The economy is also impacting stuff across the board.
@@DillyDGIB i agree bro. Economy and saturation. The numbers are spread out. We gotta just keep going and evolving with the times
@@KYDUH I agree and who knows what the algorithm's are going to do in the next few years. I'm personally focusing on mastering beatstars and trying to get better at that and an email list, because that's much less fragile than the algorithm.
Congrats on 8k though, we always want more of course, but that's very solid, you're definitely on to something
U forget how much luck is involved with the TH-cam algorithm…
How is it possible that people like myself and other have sustained it through ups and downs for 3-4 years now?
@@DillyDGIB if you don’t think luck is involved in the beginning then your delusional…. Dope beats all over TH-cam but most don’t have 1,000s of views
Equating creating music to Starbucks is a stupid f way to look at it. You’re not talking about music, you’re talking about a product, and that’s a whole other thing.
how to make ur first money as a producer
If you want your first dollar, find small artists on IG and and found out what beats they want, and then make them for them and charge them.
bro that is not you 0:46 he is jake one dont play with me
It was a joke 😂 Jake one’s body, my head
@@DillyDGIB yeh i know 😂😂 just kiding thanks for the info
@@obhbeats My bad 😂😂 didn't know you were kidding, thanks for watching bro!
@@DillyDGIB you welcom thanks bro 🙏🙏🙏
Great content…. Hit a brick wall at the minute…. Feel my beats are too niche… feel the pull to be an ‘artist’ and streaming etc…. It’s been a stop start year….!
Thanks bro! What do you like more producing or being an artist?
@@DillyDGIB Thanks for the reply... Hand on heart, probably an artist, lofi instrumentals (Wun Two etc) are my go to for music. Just can't see any major income from streaming and I hate my job so much!! I also feel I've come to far to pivot....
constructive feedback; the captions are annoying, makes it hard to focus on your face and what you’re saying
Interesting thanks for the feedback, maybe I can make them more subtle, because people comment when I don’t have them, because they say they like to listen on low volume. I’ll look for a middle ground
Can I get a hoooyaahhhh?
great advice Dilly I recently got a video with 1000 views after three years and have definitely followed these tips without realizing it on my new channel @axysbeats
