- Hey there! In this latest art video, I threw myself a little paint party to celebrate hitting the big 5-0 this month. We dove into the colorful world of watercolors, using a fun birthday-themed color card from the Color Cube as our guide. With a mix of playful stencils and classy gold accents, we crafted a lovely abstract painting that perfectly captured the celebratory mood. It's all about embracing the artistic side of aging and finding joy in the creative process. I'm getting supplies out right this moment. When I saw you shuffle through all of those color cube cards I thought wow, I hope she picks that one with the dark colors, then when you put them behind your back to pull from I thought "no way will she pull that dark one" but low and behold - YOU DID !!! So I had a little party myself when I saw that was THE ONE for the birthday party! Chocolate with raspberry I'd say! I've not touched a paintbrush since school, where I couldn't draw so that just wrote me off for everything to do with art, that and we were an ''academic" family not a "creative" one. Since discovering your channel and also Flow Works, and realising I share your absolute joy in colour and texture, I have decided that my second half century is going to be different. Happy Birthday! 50 looks good on you! My 50's were awesome. I got my motorcycle endorsement when I turned 50 and bought a Harley. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. For the next 15 years, I went on wonderful adventures with my hubby. Had to buy a bigger bike because my first Harley was on the small side (power-wise) and I could barely keep up with him. When I got a bigger bike, he couldn't keep up with me! lol...Sadly I had to sell it a couple of years ago because the arthritis in my hands got so bad that I could no longer grab gears. Hubby sold his as well because his hip had gotten so bad. But we bought a truck and camper with the money we got from our bikes and really have never looked back. So, the moral of this long rambling post (sorry, but long rambling posts are my superpower), is that at 50, I felt like life had really just started. I've heard said that 50's are the youth of old age. And I felt that. Now 17 years later, I just feel the old age...🤣🤣 And if you've gotten through this long post, I wanted to end that I love your work so much! I don't paint abstract myself (call me chicken) but I so very much appreciate the beauty it can bring to the world. Your paintings bring much beauty! I know you will be on the other side of your 50's before you know it and wondering just how in the world did that decade go by so fast, along with a decade of beautiful art under your belt!
I was bothered when I turned 30... didn't like it when 40 came around... but at 50... I'm like... whatever... these past few years have been fantastic and I'm feeling pretty good about life... and I have moved my life in the direction where I am doing exactly when I could never have dreamed of when I was younger! So I'm proud to have made it to 50! And so glad you were here to celebrate with me... I have a photo of my grandmother on a motorcycle when she was probably 70... and I love it! Thank you! 🤗🥰🎉
