For large carpet like this, one of the best way to clean it is the remove the whole carpet, and find a way to suspend it. Then liberally soak every inch in a degreaser, and then pressure wash it. Rinse wash repeat. Be amazed how well it works!
Sucks to see how many of these trucks' interiors get messed up over the years. My pops bought his 97' in November of 96' with 3miles on it, sold it to me in 2005 and the only reason i'm watching this videos is to see how to remove seats to do a carpet cleaning. On the other note beautiful 2 door man! congratulations on owning her i hope she lasts you many years to come 👏🏽
First time I used my drill brush I was amazed at how well it breaks up all the crap in a carpet. I need/want to get an extractor also. Chemical Guys makes some great products as well.
Loving this project Trav. I just did a search on Auto Tempest for RWD Tahoes and returned 133 in the whole country. Exactly 0 of those were 2 door. You officially own a unicorn...
Nice video again! Watching From Houston, Tx hope you keep that Tahoe , I say put some baby billets to give it that 90s feel and vibe to it after all the bodywork transformation can’t wait
Well worth pulling the carpet out,I soaked mine in bleach and mr. Clean, then car washed it until the water coming out was pretty clean, come out really well except for some of the worn spots
Love your channel and your attention to detail/OCD! I am the same way in my garage! Keep up the great work Sir! I am so jealous of that 2 door Tahoe, I have always wanted one of those.
I took everything out except driver seat with loose bolts. Unbolted seat at car wash and sprayed soap on carpet and did a thorough rinse making sure i didnt spray anything except carpet. Drove home and let it dry in sun. Living in the south, it took a day for everything to dry. Looked almost new when done and no mold smell or anything. The floor is painted so no worry on future rust since it dried in a day or 2
Just found your channel a couple weeks ago. Love the videos great content brother! My wife suggest trying a magic eraser pad on the panels. We have used them and found them to work great.
Great video, always enjoy them, I have a 97 two door. careful on removing the trim some of them are unique to the two door. don't ask me how I know. looking forward to more.
I have a 1997 yukon...it needed alot of work when I got it...but with the carpet...I just took it all out and took it to the car wash...sprayed some engine cleaner on it then I washed it off and it come out looking like a new carpet...and it was really dirty
Since you already have the seats in the console and everything out I've seen a lot of them TH-camrs also take the carpets out completely and hit him with a pressure washer and they actually come out quite clean you could probably try that with some good detergent soap for some like laundry soap for some that's a stain remover I would recommend like era or tie-dye no era as a nice fruity smell to the the material
Just found your channel today. I own two of these but both with tailgates. I have seen other videos where they can open the barn doors further if you need it by unlatching the black bars in the door jamb. Just an fyi
You should use APC and degreaser with the steam cleaner to get really good results Also try mr. clean magic sponge on the plastic pieces with APC For the carpet, check out Stuffer’s garage channel or detail geek’s channel and see that they use for their carpets. A car shouldn’t take you more than 4-5 hours (with the right tools and products) Finally, your carpet is fine. It will clean up fine
I bet it is also rusty underneath the carpet and underneath the padding and you’re probably sucking some of that rust up too. Also just using straight up Windex and then rinsing stuff off might’ve worked better than hot water
Need some help. I have an 03 Silverado (hoping the same issues with my truck are similar to your Tahoe). Took the seats out a while ago, (replaced middle console) then I put them back in. All manual seats so only plug-in was the airbag sensors. I’m getting airbag sensor displayed on my dash but the wires are all connected back to the seats. Implugged battery for 10-15 mins (didn’t work). Any thoughts?
why are you sending to the upholster and not using new seat covers from The Seat Shop? are you going custom? or is there something i don't know about seat covers?
My 1st priority was getting my dash cleaned so i pulled all the dash panels and it turned out amazing. Steam cleaned my vents and cleaned between all the switches and the panel. Your videos will motivate me to move on quicker now. Thanks
Had a 1 owner 96 shipped to MI from nevada 2 years ago. Less than 3k on it since then. Stalling on getting it done. My main thing is i want the luggage rack removed which means extra cost messing with the headliner
Hey there! I also own a '99 2-door Tahoe, and I am looking to build it out for car camping. I am trying to design it to utilize as much space as possible, I was wondering how easy it was to take out the seats and to put them back in. If I were to do that every, say 6 months, would that be too much of a hassle in your opinion? Or was it relatively easy o hassle-free (ish)? :)
TWA Motorsports gotta chase a coolant leak and probably the transfer case too. already did the transmission, but a whole new bucket of shit has presented itself
Your videos never disappoint! They always keep me entertained. I was thinking, would a pressure washer be safe for carpet if you were to pull it out? I feel like it would be able to push out the dirt and grime, however I’m not too sure if it would tear up the carpet or not.
Nice video as always my friend... Did you disconnect the battery before unplugging the seats? Just because if you didn't you can throw an airbag light on the dash... Plus a safety rule too.. airbags can go off if not careful while unplugging seats... Safety first my friend...
For large carpet like this, one of the best way to clean it is the remove the whole carpet, and find a way to suspend it. Then liberally soak every inch in a degreaser, and then pressure wash it. Rinse wash repeat. Be amazed how well it works!
I have done that in the past and its suck a pain but does work well

Yeah it does. I actually sold this unfortunately
First time I used my drill brush I was amazed at how well it breaks up all the crap in a carpet. I need/want to get an extractor also. Chemical Guys makes some great products as well.
Yes they work awesome
Salute! Thats a nice truck! I own a 95 2door also. But no barn doors. And Burgundy interior. Gota keep them alive. Awsome trucks. 👍😎
Thank you. I do love the looks
I’m just jealous how easy it is for him to get the bolts out.
Lol. Sometimes they are a pain
Loving this project Trav. I just did a search on Auto Tempest for RWD Tahoes and returned 133 in the whole country. Exactly 0 of those were 2 door. You officially own a unicorn...
Thank you. They are rare
love watching videos like these, these are amazing. gonna do this to my 99 tahoe!
Thank you
I've always just taken them completely out and hit it with about a half a gallon of purple power and a pressure washer....comes out great every time
That seems to be a common thing. I have done that in the past
For the carpet ?
Yes
@@TWAMotorsports ohh okay thank you
@nathankaganac 👌
Nice video again! Watching From Houston, Tx hope you keep that Tahoe , I say put some baby billets to give it that 90s feel and vibe to it after all the bodywork transformation can’t wait
Thank you. Don't know about baby billets though
That's exactly what I'm trying to accomplish my self when I finally find one of these gems.
Well worth pulling the carpet out,I soaked mine in bleach and mr. Clean, then car washed it until the water coming out was pretty clean, come out really well except for some of the worn spots
You used bleach? That didn't remove the color?!
Love that Tahoe!!!
Me too. Thank you
I love the 2 doors but not fond of the barn doors.
Love your channel and your attention to detail/OCD! I am the same way in my garage! Keep up the great work Sir! I am so jealous of that 2 door Tahoe, I have always wanted one of those.
Thank you. Sometimes my ocd makes me crazy lol
Good job I love these 2 Tahoes they are so fast for a truck
Thank you. Not fast but cool to look at.

Not a bad idea.
You have gotta put a hardwood floor in the back. Me and a buddy did it in his 96 yukon and it turned out great!
Not a bad idea but probably stick with carpet
And you should do a video on electric window conversion on the Sierra! I Have a 02 Silverado stepside with chingalewindows too hahaha
Maybe one day I will
Its all plug and play i went to the junk yard and took the doors off a Tahoe
Ernesto Paz Did you take the whole harness that runs under the dash for the windows or where did you plug the new harness for the doors to?
Maybe you can pull the carpet out and pressure wash it, works great for me.
I love the Tahoe I have been looking forever for a 2wd so hard to find.
It's such a mess to do that or I would
great truck and awesome name
Thanks 👍
A little tlc she needed nice bro
Thank you

Thank you John. I will try that next time.
Coming along yup cant wait
Thank you. Me neither
Good job cleaning that beast!
Thank you. Just getting started
TWA Motorsports welcome👍🏻
Great video, always enjoy them, I have a 97 two door. careful on removing the trim some of them are unique to the two door. don't ask me how I know. looking forward to more.
Thank you. I have been very careful because they are brittle
Looks good already. Great job
Thank you. Its getting there
Great work ! Looking 100 times better already. Looking forward on seeing this build threw.
Thank you. I love this kinda of detail stuff
Had to watch this have a 99 2 door as well and I'm doing the same thing. Only difference is I don't have barn doors.
They are neat rides.

Thank you for the advise. I will try some of those products
Pressure washer on the carpet should do the trick with the correct cleaner. Pulling it out of the truck of course lol
Lol. I have done that before and it's a mess
TWA Motorsports I bet... that’s why I’ve never done it 😆
Lol
I'll be honest, I use spray n wash on my carpets with that drill brush. Works great.
I will try that. Thank you
I was gonna steam clean my carpet too but I ended up jus buying new pre molded carpet and installing it myself wasn't that hard either
That's coming on this one too
I bet it is also rusty underneath the carpet and underneath the padding and you’re probably sucking some of that rust up too. Also just using straight up Windex and then rinsing stuff off might’ve worked better than hot water
Probably so.
Do u have video it finished with new seats and carpet ??
Nope. Sold it
Are you doin the carpet install after all? I need to do mine but wanna wait until you do yours so I can see how it’s done 😂
I am but that will be after paint
Pulling the carpet completely out and hitting with pressure washer makes a new again
Just did that on a s10 but it doesn't get it all
Did the center glove box thing beside the front seats come with the truck I’m missing those on mine
Yes it did
Did you ever replace the carpet? I have 96 Tahoe with same color and looking to buy replacement but unsure of correct color. Medium beige?
I didn't
I've taken carpets out and take them to the car wash and pressure wash them. Then I hang them over my fence to dry.
Yeah and they are crazy heavy
Does the back seat inter change with a center row from a suburban
I don't think so

No idea as I have not had that issue
why are you sending to the upholster and not using new seat covers from The Seat Shop? are you going custom? or is there something i don't know about seat covers?
Seat shop doesn't make covers for 88-98
Magic eraser on panels is where its at!!! Way to much work and money invested in those carpets. Entire OEM set is $200
Someone else said that. I will try that next time.
My 1st priority was getting my dash cleaned so i pulled all the dash panels and it turned out amazing. Steam cleaned my vents and cleaned between all the switches and the panel. Your videos will motivate me to move on quicker now. Thanks
@@Bearhater21 yeah I did the dash but not crazy as dust during paint will require a redo

Satisfying

Not super easy to do quickly
was it the same 15mm for the back seats also to be removed??
Been a while but I think so
You should do it 90s look🤔
It already has 90s looks lol
@@TWAMotorsports something like that th-cam.com/video/nQ_Ny3_ln4M/w-d-xo.html with some baby billets nice and simple

Lol
TWA Motorsports gotta chase a coolant leak and probably the transfer case too. already did the transmission, but a whole new bucket of shit has presented itself
That's how it is with used stuff sometimes
TWA Motorsports my truck no longer leaks but i think it needs a transfer case now
Question, why did you choose to clean the carpet as opposed to replace it?
Wanted to try my new cleaner lol
You should try sin manchas cleaner that will work on anything
Never heard of it
@@TWAMotorsports look it up on ig I'm sure you'll find it
Your steam cleaner can work well on them panels.
No they would dry out
fun to watch the cows in the backround on fast foward speed lol
Lol
Possibly try to pressure wash the carpet and if they still come out bad just buy new ones 👍
That is a huge pain because of the weight and dry time but it does work well
What tools did you use to take out the back seats
18mm I think
Hope you got a Bissell
Maybe🤐
What type of steamer do you have
Vx5000. Link in description
Thx again.
Where’s part two to the scrub down??
Coming tonight
That carpet was scary! What is the cost difference between your extractor and getting new carpet?
Well I think I'm doing both lol
Where do you find vehicles to buy ? Used
Facebook market place most of the time
What size of bolts in the seat belts
I think a t45 or t50

Better! How much money did you find?
Thank you. Maybe a few dollars in change lol
Still waiting for that turbo kit?
One day maybe

Peep your subs going up👀 don’t forget your og’s
I wont. A lot have left or don't comment much these days
