    thanks for the tutorial guys - just purchased a 2001 stagea and will bookmark this page for future ref when I need to do a gasket change - if you don't have a torque wrench rule of thumb is when screwing into alloy don't use power tools and use a smaller socket set - the smaller the bolt the smaller the wrench.................

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  16 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It actually is a easy install. Most people install it themselves in about 1.5 hours.
    And yes, for most people the power gains are noticeable. And the gains are always measurable on the dyno.

  • @Plazman
    @Plazman 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought a Motordyne 5/16" Basic Plenum spacer for my 350z. I'm not mechanically inclined, but was able to install it fairly easily. I did mess up and not adjust the cross brace that runs over it though. Since the clearance higher after you install this, you need to shorten the brace a bit. I tried to force it and effed up the threading on one of the bolts. I'm happy with the performance of the product though!

    @Motordyne  16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Its the Coolant Control Valve (CCV). It lets you turn on or off the hot coolant flow to the plenum. Turn the valve off for performance in warm weather. Turn the valve on when driving in very cold weather. With the valve on, it will prevent freezing the throttle body (just like stock). Nissan heats the throttle body for safety in cold weather. The CCV allows you to shut off the hot coolant flow when its not needed in warm weather.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  16 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes, the rule of thumb is correct. The Iso Thermal system will reduce internal air flow temperature by ~15'F to 20'F.

    thanks for the quick reply! The additional power is awesome, and the sound to be honest, sounds pretty sick... great product.

    The cars passing by sound like F1 cars when fast-forwarded haha.
    Very useful video! Thanks!

    The progressive tightening sequence pulls the parts together evenly to avoid warping and make a better seal.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jkidd5000 Great Question.
    If you can only start with one or the other, start with the MREV2.
    It will give you great midrange gains. You can always add the spacer later for additional top end power.
    However, the spacer, by itself won't do anything on your stock revup plenum. It only works on the MREV2.

  • @funguy7979
    @funguy7979 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    man the exhaust setups that they have on the motordyne website look sick and if the performance numbers are right, then they made some really good aftermarket parts. They even have parts for the M35 infinity. Now i can actually buy an upgrade for my fiance's car.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes the Iso Thermal kits come with the CCV.
    And the CCV allows you to shut off that hot coolant flow going to the intake.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Simple motor oil will do just fine.
    As the engine heats up, the oil is absorbed into the gasket material. It swells and conforms to the contact surfaces to make a good pneumatic seal.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Correct, the Copper kit is the upgrade to the valve and thus does not have the CCV. Also, Because you have the non-revup engine I recommend the spacer. You can do the MREV2 as well but in your case it will only add 4-6 more HP.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, the spacer will make the easiest and lowest cost gains on this engine. Please see the dyno section of our website for detailed dyno analysis.
    And yes, each kit comes with everything you need for a complete installation. All you need is the tools to install it and you are good to go.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you seen the dyno plots in the dyno section of our website?
    The 5/16" spacer makes a higher average gain.
    The 1/2" spacer makes a higher gain at high RPM.
    So it depends on where you want the emphasis of gain focused.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is the Coolant Control Valve (CCV). It allows the plenum assembly to run much cooler during operation.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's the CCV Coolant Control Valve. It allows the plenum assembly to run a lot cooler. 40-60 degrees cooler.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ambientflier
    The valve is not in the Copper kit. The Copper is the upgrade replacement for the valve. Its completely automatic.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Because the kit supplies new/better gaskets of its own and its generally not advised to stack new and old gaskets on each other.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stillen and APS both make a strut bar that will fit but it would be cheaper to get a Motordyne 5/16" plenum spacer. The 5/16" plenum spacer will allow you to keep your stock strut bar and it will make more power.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jkidd5000 @jkidd5000 Yes, you have the REVUP engine. For your application I recommend the MREV2 with the 5/16" Iso Thermal plenum spacer. It will make at least 15HP and 18TQ. It often dynos above 20HP & 30TQ.

  • @Nizm0350z
    @Nizm0350z 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    i wouldn't say a big difference, but it does give it a nice growl and it feels slighty quicker. it's a nice alternative to replacing the entire plenum such as the kinetix. and i can keep my stock strut bat.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please see the dyno plots posted in the dyno section of our website for full details. As tested by Nissan sport magazine, the best overall performer was the 5/16" spacer.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Pawandeep211
    It relieves a air flow restriction at the front of the plenum and allows the intake runners #1 and #2 to breath more easily.

  • @austin1906
    @austin1906 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow you guys are awesome.
    Good job replying to all the comments!
    Read em all and I'm surprised.
    I gotta pick up one of these thing!
    Great video. Thanks

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, but it also includes the Aramid gasket. Its the Iso Thermal upgrade shown on our website.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jkidd5000 Yes. It makes very good gains and costs relatively very little. Approximately 30,000 units have been sold.
    And the strut bar fit like stock.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  16 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Aramid gasket greatly impedes heat transfer from the lower manifold into the lower plenum. This is a necessary part of reducing the plenum assembly temperature.

    FluidicPoppy no they are normal v6. Not straight 6. Just when you take off the manifold the intakes are in line leading to cylinders.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    @aarash2000
    Its not necessary to install it, but it is better if you do. It will let your plenum assembly run a lot cooler. I recommend installing it.

  • @mrkingquang

    I gotta say I admire you guys. I wanna own every upgrade parts in my cat made by motordyne. The sad part. Still on a tight budget :( can't afford this high quality

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have the non-revup engine so in your case all you need is the spacer.
    Most people use the 5/16" for the most overall gain. Iso Thermal for warm environments. Copper Iso Thermal for chronically cold environments.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Many dyno plots are posted in the dyno section of our website. There are different results for different parts.

  • @AudiR8-RCA
    @AudiR8-RCA 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Skunk2 doesn't come with the spacers for the factory strut bar to fit. You could just use some washers/shims and put your factory strut bar back on. That would probably cost less than $3 dollars.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ambientflier
    We have several independent dyno plots listed in the dyno section of our website. They go into great detail on the gains made.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @paulg35c The MREV2 will make a minimum of 15HP and 18TQ on your engine. It often dynos at 20HP and 30TQ.
    And a spacer (by itself) does not work on your engine. It must be combined with the MREV2 to have any effect.

    What was the piece at the end of the video that you put inline hose?.. Is that also part of the kit or something different?..

    For the coolant bypass to the Plenum, I have a (6mm) hose going straight down from plenum (right behind TB) to a metal pipe, going horizontally across the back of motor, is that not the one to cut to install the valve? I have a 2006 G 35 coupe in my intake gets insanely hot and it stays hot for like 4 hours. Untouchable hot for about two hours.

  • @Motordyne

    I would link it for you, but links can't be posted in this section of TH-cam.

    2003 automatics do not have the REVUP engine. All you need is the spacer and it will make easy and reliable gains. ;)

  • @pintopez1234
    @pintopez1234 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can do virtually everything on a G35 with 10mm and 12mm sockets and an inch lb and ft lb torque wrench, for this installation it seems only the inch lb tq wrench and the sockets.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jkidd5000 Installation takes about 1.5 hours.

  • @HACAFPV
    @HACAFPV 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    ok so basically the spacer is for better volume but the aramid gasket and ccv are what reduce he air temps?

  • @HACAFPV
    @HACAFPV 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    cool thanks alot! so the ccv should make a significant difference than right?

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, it is our Basic plenum spacer.

  • @HACAFPV
    @HACAFPV 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    does the spacer come with that ccv? so stock then the car in the warm weather has hot coolant running through the throttle body?

  • @garnettg35
    @garnettg35 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I basically just want the nice sound mixed with the stillen intake. And i heard it will give u a good gain on top end. Is that right? Thanks again

  • @ambientflier
    @ambientflier 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just installed the MREV2, 5/16 Spacer, Stillen Z-tube and JWT popcharger on my '05 Rev Up G35 sedan. With a proper Uprev tune, what kind of gains are to be expected throughout the powerband and peak? I like your product a lot...unfortunately I wasn't able to feel the exact difference in performance between stock and plenum/space, due to the intake going on at the same time as well, with the louder sound throwing off my butt-dyno...it does feel like it pulls stronger in mid-range and top end

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  13 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @lowceez2
    @lowceez2 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    wow you guys made that upgrade look very simple!! hey that spacer plenum looks cool. i have a 03' 350z. AEM CAI, HKS ignigtion amp applied,stock tower brace. Will the Motordyne plenum spacer be beneficial as far as a noticable power increase for me?? I have no turbo or supercharge upgrade.

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Completely normal. ;)
    Its just the added air flow going past the throttle body.

    I just installed a stillen ztube intake kit on my 03 g35 coupe 6mt. Will the 5/16 basic Plenum spacer give me good gains? Does the basic plenum spacer comes with the one gasket u took at the end? Thankyou

  • @salchipapa8000

    i thought that the plenum spacer was that gasket that went around the whole intake manifold ? not that one by the cylinders

  • @garnettg35
    @garnettg35 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thankyou. I just got one more question before i do my order cause i was gonna do that last night, wich one do u recommend for the non revup motor the 5/16 or the 1/2? I dont care about the engine cover. But i heard the 5/16 works better on the non revup engines. Thanks again

    Do you need to replace the intake gaskets or is the basic kit fine? I don't see why you'd need to replace the gasket under the bottom of the plenum.

    • @ReVospinner

    Do I have to have the Mrev2 lower manifold to have the motordyne iso thermal plenum spacer or can I just get the plenum spacer with the stock lower manifold?
    Also what tools such as the sockets do I need for this install?

    • @motordynesales696
      @motordynesales696 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here is a link of the installation manual and video on how to install the MREV2. motordyneengineering.com/installation-manuals/
      Depending on your engine. If you have a rev-up engine the MREV2 is a prerequisite - a must have before spacer. If you have a non rev-up engine It is best to only use the spacer kit.

  • @dukviper90
    @dukviper90 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    So what's the benefits of this install? Just better throttle response?

  • @Motordyne
    @Motordyne  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @paulg35c
    What year is your vehicle? If you have the REVUP engine you will need to start with the MREV2 lower manifold. The spacer by itself doesn't work on the stock "REVUP" lower manifold.

  • @CptBlacks

    I live in Toronto, Canada. Where it goes to -11F or -24C last year. Is it safe to install the copper iso thermal? has it been tested under these conditions, or have you had customers in colder parts testify that the mod upholds in extreme cold? cheers

    • @philipholman1713
      @philipholman1713 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best spacer claims 14 hp , that with the z tube that's almost 25 hp not bad for just twisting a wrench.

      Its generally recommended to always use new gaskets but I've reused various gaskets multiple times. It depends on the condition of the gasket. If its torn or damaged, replace it. If it looks good, there is a good chance you can re-use it without any issues.
