Good video. I got my start through exploration in a wormhole corp and gas huffing. Earning several billion a week as an 8 month old toon now. Well with multiple accounts so...
Great guide as always! Of course, I might be biased. But we're still kindred spirits as explorers, so you never really left. ;) 💙 Thanks for the shoutout! o7
Love it, I think this could lead to a series on how to run certains sites in WH space. Maybe include the logistic cruiser's clear and hack of the harder sites?
Fantastic video! It's great when you discuss different ships and strategies, how to prioritize skills and what content you can run comfortably with specific ships. I learn something new from every video!
@@captainbenzie Thank you for making so many vids! I'm doing the broke nomad (a Cheetah and nothing else) and living in a shattered wormhole. the whole playlist is gold
Really enjoying this video as a returning old player, started playing from a boxed copy :) I've forgotten about 98% of the game so have so much to relearn so your channel will be a huge help, thanks! Just a random question is easy in game way of knowing where each race's starter hub via an agent search or just a quick google search? Many thanks!
You can Google "EVE University Career Agents" and their wiki has a list, but you can also use the Agency tab to find them too. Open agency, Career Agents, and then you'll see them there and can set a route.
The extra strength on the data and relic II are so so much nicer. Absolutely agree with them getting stronger. The hard containers are ridiculously painful to crack without and many times 2 fails and they explode.
@@captainbenzie Just wanted to say again, I've been out of eve for almost a decade and you and couple of other content creators have been the only reason I could get back into it. That learning curve was steep back in early 2k and you are truly a blessing.
I'm back, played a month a couple years ago.. but now going to try harder to learn more. Not aure if I'll get the mill sp but I'll start a new character and see... discord sounds good. Thanks
Hey o/ you have a lot of amazing videos an content! In the past I used to explore in a interceptor (fast alight and immunity to bubbles... ) going in and out of nullsec was a walking really easy! Nowadays I saw that they have changed the interceptor and added a mod to avoid bubbles, in which tech 2 exploer frigates can fit it. So I think that interceptors for exploring isn't a good alternative anymore right?! What do you think about it?
Great video Benzie! Exploration is honestly one of my favorite aspects of the game. Not only can it bring in good isk, but its such a good way to get newbros to experience the thrills of EVE.
Great and informative video, Cpt. Benzi! This just made me want to do exploration now! 😆 But I think I'll continue to be an enforcer for the time being! 😁
Astero is my go to ship. Yes, it’s fit for PVP but that’s because my skills are high enough that, besides analyzers, I have no need for exploration modules. I carry a mobile depot and can swap between them, it doesn’t really add that much time. My particular fit has also never lost versus another Astero so, there’s that at least.
Great work! If you need any ideas for content, I have 2-3 friends which all of us are new to the game. What would be content we could all do together and make good isk?
My best recommendation for exploration is to use a cargo scanner so you can cherry pick the valuable cans. For me, it means I spend less time vulnerable in popular sites and it also opens up sites that other people usually ignore. I've found 150m cans in level 1 data sites (granted most of the time they're basically worthless) but when it only takes a few minutes to probe scan and cargo scan the site for rare valuables, totally worth it to me.
The BIG problem with using a cargo scanner is that if you finish ALL the cans in a site then the site will be generated somewhere else in Eve (maybe in the next system that you visit!). But if you "cherry pick" the cans and leave even one unopened, then the site just sits there uselessly and doesn't regenerate. Always run ALL the cans and when you do that, a cargo scanner isn't necessary. Just say no to cherry picking.
A cherry picked site despawns in 2 hours. Seriously, people who complain about it need to check themselves - cargo scan away, your time is precious too.
Think i'd have to disagree on the no propulsion needed in hi-sec; ive found the sites in hi-sec to be hotly contested and unless youre one of the people who cherry-pick their cans and/or leave a site thats already got someone in it, then you'll likely need an MWD to bolt over to any of the untapped cans (since you'll enter a site some 15/20k's+ from the nearest can) Had just watched the Perch related video and its pretty much as i suspected, alas, i dont know if its because im Oceanic or what, but creating a bookmark rarely works for me and i end up with my saved location being on top of the location im going to or coming from, lol
Always use a perch. You just have to get into the trick of setting them up. It means you're never moving between cans slowly, and it's much harder to be ganked.
I've been looking at some of your vids with the idea of what kind of path i would want to go down if I started playing eve online. I am between the route of an explorer at the start vs. grabbing a Electrical Tristan and doing abyssals to build a nest egg of isk. Would the skill pts I get from the referral allow me to do both well or would I be spread too thin? I feel most interested in focusing on exploring and fighting/using drones where applicable.
You'd have a good basis in one and a solid start towards the other. I'd pick one, get it comfortably skilled and then work towards the other - you'll still be able to do a bit of whichever one you didn't choose to try it out, and whilst you're doing Option A, Option B will be training.
I just started a few days ago. Much to my excitement, I bought a Merlin ship (I was given an Ibis at first). I dont know if what I bought is a good starter ship for exploration. I have no Idea what fittings should put into it coz its bare and I thought I can transfer whatever I currently have from the other ship so I just need to add a feww more.
Captain my Captain , what Mod do you use in your UI , i seen the explore tab on some of your videos , and i been looking for it since , please help me out Captain Benzie
Im a casual alpha with EVE uni. If I went to Omega, I would do at least 2 accounts but not sure I want to pay for that yet. Does your corp take in newish alphas?
I'm trying to check off the data sites on the AIR career path, but all the ones close to me say "training." In order to complete this section of the career program, do I have to find another system with data sites that don't say "training?"
@@captainbenzie Ok I did that for a while last night, but I couldn't find any in the worm holes. Lot's of combat sites though. I'll try again tonight using your guide to help.
As I have started down the exploration path I have been frustrated that there is not a middle ground between non-combat frigates and something like a Tengu. I have skill points and ISK from playing years ago and would like to put that to use and fly some kind of T1 exploration cruiser that can do combat exploration and make things a bit more interesting. Why isn’t there a natural progression to be made in this career from frigates through destroyers, cruisers, etc.?
Basically there is. Exploration is the realm of small ships like the T1 Explorers, T2 Covert Ops, Astero and Metamorphosis. Then you have combat cruisers like the HACs. The design intent, basically, is that you're expected to use the explorer to find, the cruiser to clear, then the explorer to loot (preferably as a team). The Stratios and the T3 Cruisers then unite these two paths.
Bad advice saying you don’t need a propulsion module. What about running gate camps? Crashing back to the gate? You said you should be mainly running from pvp, hard to do without propulsion.
"Bad Advice" in this case is good advice that you've completely misunderstood. Why do I need prop for any of those things? I have an interdiction nullifier, a 3s align time, a covert ops cloak... Prop isn't going to save you if you fly like a moron and can't survive with those bits. Crashing a gate? I don't need to. Gate camp? I fly right through it. Prop mods move you around on grid. When someone tries to catch you, your best chance at survival is to not be on grid. An MWD isn't going to save you against ANYTHING with Scrams, and an AB loses to a web. If you're caught, you're dead, and prop mods don't stop you getting caught.
Personally i agree with most. The point i disagree with is no prop in high sec. Why? because people with prop mod will go on and try to steal loot in a site you are in. If you are slow boating it you might get 1 or 0 out of a site you just scanned.. sure in null, low or wormhole space people either leave or shoot though.
