If they shot Abby's end of Day 1 scene already, that implies they'll be cutting between the stories rather than devoting one season mostly to one character and another mostly to the other.
I think a great thing they could do to expand on the universe is show the flashbacks to the letters and notes Ellie and Abby find like at hospital ground zero when the one patient is writing to his wife and losing his mind, The two kids who left their father at the aquarium to join the seriphites, etc.
I have a feeling we will get the WLF taking over Seattle and ground zero hospital flashback with a shot of a room of infected stuck together as the start to the rat king

Joel is a dangerous person, and the therapist does not work for him, the therapist works for whoever the therapist believes "society" is. She is not trying to help Joel deal with his panic attacks. I mean, if doing so helps her achieve her larger goals, then she might, but not directly. Her "real" job is to make Joel less dangerous to "society." Part of doing that means making Joel believe she is trying to help him.
Joel not talking to tommy about the hospital will be a mistake because that scene provides dept to the two brothers trust and love to each other and that is why tommy leave for revenge without thinking 2:45
I’ve always felt this decision to kill him was a way to say sometimes the right decision deserves consequences. Regardless of if you think he was right or wrong decisions have consequences and Joel made a big decision resulting in big consequences.

Killing Joel off just gave me no motivation to play as Abby. I just let her die at the hands of Ellie in the cinema and stopped playing. I'm aware of the rest of the narrative, but as a player I just didn't care. The narrative overtook player agency, and I hate that. However as a series there is no player agency, so I'm intrigued to see if the show is a better fit for the narrative of part 2.

When they do it and the viewing figures nosedive perhaps they'll realise what a stupid idea that was. Also, who will play older Ellie as the current actress won't grow up fast enough.
Also, Joel is still going to be in the show, in flashbacks. It would be very dumb of HBO to take those out because so many ppl want to see Pascal in all of it but his character is required to die in the beginning for the story to set in motion
