    Welding Tips and Tricks was the first site I started learning to weld at at age 50. He was always full of information.
    I watch this video specifically to see if you're bringing in the tig finger. And I'm very happy to see the review.

    Jody is such a great guy for the video's he does, he deserves a plug here and there. Ive had old school hands watch some of his videos and learn something. Thats the beauty of welding, if you think you have figured everything out...your not doing it right.

    Classy to endorse a product of another TH-camr. Shows you value passing on helpful information to your viewers above some childish competitiveness some channels fall into. Both excellent and helpful channels.

    I haven't seen it mentioned, so I thought I'd share. Buy yourselves some firefighters gloves. Most use kevlar stiching and have 1 piece of leather that covers the fingers and palm, so there's less chance of a seam melting and getting holes. Another nice feature is if you get the aluminized ones it reflects the radiant heat from the back of your hand. Used firefighters gloves are about as cheap on ebay as your name brand cheaper gloves. I found an unused pair for 20 bucks on ebay. Since fire departments are taxpayer funded, they're always getting the latest and greatest, so they throw away old stuff pretty regularly.

    For a bit I did pretty long vertical up outside corner welds on tall stainless tubs. I had my XL TIG finger with me and honestly I could've done very well without it but I was still glad I had it, it was way more comfortable.

    I've been seeing these for a while and never caved until I saw them at a local supply shop and bought 2 one for a buddy and one for me. I like to support other brothers. What I just noticed though is you're left handed! That's crazy there is so few of us!

    Holy crap that tungsten tip looks digusting. What type is it? Jodys go to tip is a 3/32 2% lanthanated and if find they work superb.

      +Philipp Schaefer Sorry for the year late comment, but it's because sharpened 2% Thoriated tungsten is prone to splitting on inverters.

    I find a large cup size for aluminium isnt as good as say a #6 or #8. The arc is less stable and wants to wander more. What size do you guys weld with?

    I'm glad you reviewed it. I subscribe to both your channel and his. Being a beginner/student welder myself at 42 years old my hand is not as steady as years gone by so I was up in the air about this product. It doesn't help that I'm "frugal" with spending money on myself despite the low price of the TIG finger. It is now definitely going on my wish list when classes start again. I've picked up a lot from your videos on things they just don't teach in school. Thank you and keep the videos coming because I can't be my best if I don't know the rest.

    I have this other "tig finger" like item, you stick your bottom 2 fingers in it and the bottom extends to the back of your wrist so you can slide your entire hand across a hot surface. If I remember the name I'll post it here. I haven't tried jodies tig finger yet but that's next on my list

    Jody's Tig Finger is great and not only for Tig welding, its great for all kinds of welding and other Hot Work as it allows you to rest a gloved finger on your work to brace yourself and to provide a physical reference point in your mind, without the risk or worry of radiant heat burns through your gloves. Once you have one or more you will wonder how you ever got on without it.

    That was a class act, endorsing your competition. I know you don't see him as competition, because you are a real educator.....and so is Jody. I enjoy both of you guys. You both offer a great education. I own a tig finger but I bought the xl and with my small hands (don't tell trump) it just does not work that good for me so I plan on buying the regular one you show. I will say, it absolutely blocks the heat, but it tends to flop around two much for me. Cheers.

      Running TIG welders on AC make that noise it's not the machine it's the arc making that noise. I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what brand it is. The Lincoln Precision TIG at my work is the same as my Everlast PowerTIG when running on AC.

    The TIG finger is the most important thing in my toolbox that isn't strictly necessary for welding. If trade down my Speedglas helmet for a passive lens before I gave up my TIG finger.

    Tig fingers are GREAT.. but Jody didn't invent them. Tig welders have been using spark plug wire protectors (just like the tig finger) for yearssssssss. I have 4 accel spark plug wire protectors i paid $20 for years ago.
    But, i do believe he is the first person to market and sell the material for this purpose..

    • @TheJayDawgZ
      @TheJayDawgZ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      most machines have turbo fans, so its ice cold even at 200 amps running a 1 foot tig bead. When I shut mine off the fan stays on for another 10 seconds or so.

    • @yermoffroad
      @yermoffroad 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Turbo fans? What are you taking about? Most machines have normal blade style fans cooling the coil or inverter. Run a 12 inch tig bead, the 10 seconds your fan still runs isn't sufficient cooling for your machine.
