    How to Weld Basic TIG:
    Once again, Wyatt is joined by Eric The Car Guy to learn how to use his new Everlast PowerTIG 185 Micro. In the first episode with Eric, Basic TIG Welding Inverter Setup (Everlast PowerTIG 185, (www.weld.com/in...) you learned the basics of welding and of the machine. Now that you are familiar with the basics, Wyatt is going to demonstrate how to weld bead on plate and basic butt welds without filler material.
    The Setup:
    To see a full video introduction on how to set up to practice these welds visit www.weld.com/in....
    The Welding:
    This episode shows you how to weld as a beginner and get started into becoming a welder. For newbies, PRACTICE is the most important part. Wyatt demonstrates stringer passes and emphasizes that you should do hundreds of these (just to get comfortable manipulating the torch). Once he shows the basic technique of a stringer pass, you will be shown how to do a basic butt weld without the use of filler material. Again, you should do as many of these as possible on scrap materials before you move to actual welding projects.

    Sean, The distance from your tungsten to the part to be welded controls your arc voltage and there will certainly be a different sound. That is to say 1/16" arc distance(9-10 volts) or better is preferred and will give you a tighter arc profile. Thus making it easier to control the puddle. The further you pull away from the puddle 3/16"(11-13volts), the puddle will get wider and you will lose the fine control and penetration. Keep practicing because you are on the right track... Is it better to practice your first welds with two hands or to start with one hand? Because this is eventually the way to go but makes it a harder for absolute beginners. Bad habbits are quicker learned then forgotten.

    Under wat circumstance TIG is used rather ARC?

  • @CarsnStuff
    @CarsnStuff 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I gotta say im extremely interested in Tig welder after watching this. I've never welded a day in my life but ive always wanted to weld a titanium exhaust system for my car. But i do want to atleast get some sort of practice just doing any type of welding for an affordable price. Honestly i was considering buying a cheap off name brand mig welder just to play around with some old fence piping out back. I've heard about how argon is expensive and how a half way decent tig is in the 1300 dollar range minimum.. but i honestly dont think id be able to afford that for small projects.. even though its completely and totally worth it just dont think i could do it.

    • @doyouwanttofuk
      @doyouwanttofuk 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      why a titanium exhaust? are you trying to rack up the most expensive car build ever?

    • @CarsnStuff
      @CarsnStuff 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      doyouwanttofuk Well i love titanium in general and i think it generates a nice tone when routed properly. Its expensive yess but worth it to me.

    • @SOLDOZER
      @SOLDOZER 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Review Guy So you will spend a bunch of money on some crap exhaust for your car that will be worth $0 once installed, but wont spend anything on a TIG machine?

    • @CarsnStuff
      @CarsnStuff 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The money for my exhaust pipe is no where near the cost of a tig welder.
      And by no means is my exhaust crap. Its name brand Blitz racing . One of the most well known japanese racing exhaust known to the automotive world.
      Lets put that in comparison.....
      780 dollar cat back exhaust vs 3000 dollar tig welder ( gas not included )
      My budget is no where near available to purchase a name brand tig welder.. So please stop comparing things that are so far apart from price. im not sure if your the type of guy who just likes to say " if you won't buy the name brand welder i tell you to, you better not buy one at all. " thats how you seem.

    • @SOLDOZER
      @SOLDOZER 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Review Guy Been there done all that in the 80's. Buying crap for a car is 100% waste unless you are a professional racer or have money to blow. Anything you put on a car is worth $0 the second you put it on. And it actually makes the whole car worth less, not more when you go to sell it. I'd say buy an import machine like an Everlast. You can get started for $300 (DC) and get a really good one for $650 (DC). For a few dollars more you can get AC. No need to spend $3000. You can if you feel like it, but it won't make you a better welder and it won't make better welds. Gas for an 80 CFM tank is ~$17.
      Instead of wasting money on crap for your car, wouldn't it be smarter to buy a welder that has the potential to actually make you money? Is your $800 cat back exhaust going to make you money? NOPE.

    • @Welddotcom
      @Welddotcom  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on what your needs are. If you don't plan on welding Aluminum you can get away with an inexpensive, DC only machine. If you need AC, you are going to spend at least $800. If you let us know your budget and requirements, we can better help you.
