I see most of the comment section filled with people getting offended by the wrong interpretation of Quran. People are still defending the religion. I just don't understand why to have a separate "religious law", be it any ? We have a constitution and it means something, it means all should be treated equally and citizens should abide by the rules and regulations which are made by the Govement. Never did My Prophet (peace be upon him ) encouraged triple talaq in one go. Infact it is a single talaq even said twice and there is a time period of 3 months for another talaq and to sort things out.

Exactly, this is merely due to a lack of knowledge. Triple Talaq is an unapproved form of Talaq hence named Talaq E Biddat...biddat meaning innovation. Women and the family who consider instant talaq lack basic structural divorce forms in Islam, hence suffer. We need to literate such women. Because technically divorce through instant talaq is no talaq at all.

Actually it is Islamic read up on it. If a man divorces his wife she needs to wait 3 months then marry another man then divorce him and wait another 3 months only then can a woman re marry her first husband.

The problem here is,my mother (who I don't call my mother) was mostly not even present in my life and my father's life,shes with someone else but when my father asks her for divorce she just denies,my father wants to end this to start another relationship.But at this point,we have stopped trying because she doesn't want to either divorce or come back and live with us instead of the other person.

My heart broke after seeing the video about triple talaak and halala.. I'm a Hindu woman but I could feel the pain, embarassment and depression that these women are going through or go through.. I'm sure Allah will punish those men who inflicted this kind of pain on these innocent women
I hope all the women who have been victims of triple talaq get justice soon, my heart goes out to them. What a horrible society we live in, where parents raise daughters to be good wives as opposed to being successful and independent. We have a long way to go before we even out the playing field and dispell patriarchy.

I appreciate the quint for bringing out the stories and highlighting the women struggling with such situations but such situations come forth because of lack of knowledge about the religion. A man may say talaq thousand times at once it will be considered as a single talaq.
Besides , It's not just a man who has the right to divorce his wife. There's something called khula that a wife can demand from her husband if she's unhappy with the relationship. I am sincerely sorry about the women who've suffered but Islam and it's methods certainly aren't the reason they've suffered. It's their respective husbands devoid of knowledge and brains to treat them the way they've treated.
And since our dear prime minister has abolished triple talaq , he should also assure these women that the government will take care of their expenses if they aren't financially well off. Just jailing their husbands wouldn't better their conditions.
Although these evil practicea are few....injustic is injustice. These women deserve justice and this bill is therefor a welcome move by the govt. The mullahs and maulvis are the main culprits who validate instant triple talaq which has no place in Islam. The Quran it self rejects instant talaq.

We cannot come for conclusions without knowing other face of facts.

Actually you are not supposed to say "talak" quickly three times in a row, there should be a month of gap between each uttering of the word so that the couple can rethink the decision, that being said there is no doubt that it was being practised wrongly (like many other islamic customs including polygamy) and it has been rightly banned..

@@shambhavidwivedee4488 hahaha, these type of illiteracy is spread around the muslim, what is triple talaak : Triple talak is given in the intervel of 3 months, 1 months you say talaak and stop taking to each other', second month of hell again give 2nd talaak and if the matter still not solves, third month is given, and after the third month, the talaak is permissible. So infact it's better than the instant divorce provided by the government, now regarding talaak, the permission thing hated the most by Allah and prophet is Talaak .

Marrying some one for sex alone and then divorce (halala) is haram(forbidden) .
Marriage is contract with spouse family also,halala doesn't involve any contract of keeping ,sheltering ,feeding but just a form of undignified action.
@@kizhissery either it is misrepresented or misused that doesn't matter. The fact that so many women have suffered because of these religious practices are what we should focus on. If any religious practices are misused we need to stop it because with time old practice are just another burden.

This is horrible, no one should ever go through this. I am completely against Triple Talaaq, Nikan Halala, and Polygamy (in this context). It's a good thing that there is now a law banning Triple Talaaq.
But the Triple Talaaq bill is a little controversial. I've heard that making Triple Talaaq a criminal offense instead of a civil one increases the burden of proof on the women. Criminal offences require more concrete proof that the incident happened. But since Triple Talaaq only involves saying three words, its easier for the men to deny it happened and it's harder for the women to prove it did.
But making it a civil offense would mean that the punishment for the men would be lighter. That's also a problem.
Besides these, there are a lot of other ways the Triple Talaaq bill can be improved to protect Muslim women. A lot of people think the bill is not enough in its present form.
