Street after street of stunning and beautifully restored Art Deco buildings have made Napier famous as one of the most complete collections of Art Deco buildings in the world.❤
Great video. Thanks for bringing me back to those good times I spent there in Napier and Hastings.I love that beautiful part of New Zealand and hope to one day revisit that beautiful city of Napier. BTW I'm writing from Port Moresby - Papua New Guinea❤
My wife is Māori/Irish and we’re from Napier. Beautiful weather and atmosphere most days, you’ll love HawkesBay summer weather and activities it’s great fun and the beaches and parks during this time are fantastic as well. 🤝❤
Great video, love Napier. The pine trees are grown for harvesting, NZ is the fastest place to grow them, they plant new trees straight after they cut them down.
I love the seaside of Napier , seating at the balcony of hotel for a nice breakfast , visit the most beautiful winery in the region such as CraggRange , Elephant hill ,what a heaven ....😊😊
Love you two 😊 so glad you're enjoying Napier , just drove through there today on my way home from Dannevirke. Napier is a beautiful place. You will absolutely love the South Island, omg , it's stunning ! . I'll follow your journey and dream that I'm with you , stay safe and enjoy every minute ❤️
WOW. What a beautiful spot to stay for a while, and you made and American friend too. Would love to visit there one day. I hope the weather stays warm and dry. There is also a really awesome Farmers Market to visit in Hastings on Sundays. I hear its one of the best in NZ.
There's a vineyard between Napier and Eskdale called Crab Farm. The original farm was developed on land that rose above sea level during the '31 earthquake. The original owners had to endue constant comments from other farmers that the only livestock they'd be able to raise were crabs.
this is so cool to see the different view points.. but I love how worried you are about us cutting down trees.. they are specifically grown for that purpose thankfully.. im totally going to watch more of your travels.. cant wait to see your South Island videos
The two other notable Art Deco cities are Miami Beach and Venice California Some of the buildings in Napier are newly built in Art Deco style. You can usually tell if you look at how the window frames are constructed. The originals will have steel or wood frames.
Thanks for reminding me that Aotearoa NZ has so much to offer but Britain has comparable landscapes. I lived in Snowdonia as a Kiwi and it was stunning.
omg stuffed its a donut shop its so amazing ( i live in napier btw) and that penguin mural has been there since i was born it is 5 sheeps to every 1 person her in new zealand and theres around 5 million people
Art deco came from France the deco cars I think came from America ( if you do the walking tour you actually get a lot of info re Napier Hawke’s Bay is renowned for its wineries as well
Wait till you see nelson south Island my parents use to have a mansion top of collingwood st number 234 you got sea & city views plus mountain that have snow on top in winter. Realestate more expensive . It snow above my parents place before which is Grampians Track
I walked around Napier today .. it is beautiful .. but so many shops have gone and the foot traffic is noticeably quieter than it used to be. I blame that on the internet . Sad.. lots of food shops still though
A lot of Irish settled on the West Coast of the south Island. Christchurch was English and Dunedin Scottish. My grandad, god bless his soul, told me the Irish were treated very poorly back in the day.
I grew up in Hawkes Bay but spent most of that time in Hastings which is a short drive from Napier and also lived in Napier for a short time. I miss the weather, lifestyle, beaches, vineyards. Napier and Hastings were rebuilt after the 1931 earthquake in art deco style and lots of the streets are lined with palm trees. You feel like you're in California or somewhere in the Mediterranean. Even the winters are sunny most of the time unlike Auckland where I live now.
Just to be clear, the trees that are cut down and sitting at the port ready for export are actually coming from tree farms. Replanted and sustainable carbon neutral operation.
Hmmmm didn’t really see much of Napier , you missed the Iron Pot (a lot more bars for you to enjoy ) wine trails , nature walks , and the port is also where we received the international cruise ships , atleast you missed running into what Napiers really known for 🤔
The pine trees in N Z are of high quality. Example Radiata pine trees grow a lot faster 2-3 years whereas other country's 6-9 years so therefore make sense to export. NZ tend to grow, cut down and export raw materials whereas overseas tend to convert theirs to high end products. Therefore there has been a lot of contension about why NZ is not doing both as it would be lucrative for NZ export income.
Hey guys, please do not get me wrong but many years ago napier was the first place i experienced a strip club...hehe😅 it was more fun than anything, it was called the fire house not sure if its still there, napier is a lovely place clean and pretty...take care guys❤PS not sure if any of yous noticed but from napier you can just see the curvature of the earth...true fact
we are likely eporting the logs to China we dont need to import them huge forestry industry here in NZ also in summer check out Ocean beach its safe to swim at def dont swim at the main town beach dangerous
@GlenAndMado i worded it weirdly. But there were alot of irish setters is probably the better way to put it 😅 atleast thats what i remember from school. Was awhile ago now though
@@mathewkennedy7889 The English sent Irish and Scottish to colonize NZ as at the time the Irish were under English Rule They're not now though which is good
Maybe so ....but it depends how you choose to experience it. It's a small isolated country with a tiny population - what do you expect it to be like? Bangkok?, London?, Los Angeles?

I can't wait to go there this November..

Napier seems to stay the same as it was in 2010 when I was there. so happy to see those streets and buildings.
Another brilliant episode. Looks like you were all having a ball in Napier!😃
Years ago,in the Napier/ Havelock you could buy a 10kg bag of Golden Queen peaches for $3, best peaches on the planet.
Now those same 10 kg peaches would cost you $50 most likely
Referenced on The Sopranos !😊

Famous for Art Deco housing, but all you show us are the same shops and beaches seen in any coastal NZ town. Nice job!

My town! Only a few people don’t wear shoes. It’s always strange to see it.
It called the Hawkes Bay earthquake as it affected all of Hawkes Bay. Flaxmere did not exist before the earthquake it was a riverbed.
Thanks for reminding me that Aotearoa NZ has so much to offer but Britain has comparable landscapes. I lived in Snowdonia as a Kiwi and it was stunning.
Thanks for sharing the comparison my freind :) quite an interesting fact. hope life was good in the UK!
No. Have you been to the South Island? It's not even close.
It is...but parts of Europe even more so...@@luminisant

The trees logs are sustainable ie planted by man and replanted when cut down.
We really hope so! :)

Gorgeous! The town wasn't bad either
It was a beauty!

I blame that on the internet
. Sad.. lots of food shops still though
most nz beaches hav BBQs u can use yes
Is there still a giant flower clock in the Botanical Gardens?
Not sure if we see it!
@GlenAndMado when I lived there in the early 80's there was a big clock and the functioning hour and minute hands were rotating flower gardens!.
That's on the Marine Parade it's just been restored and it's next to the War Memorial Center
Those are pine logs which aren’t native to NZ. But grow really well here.
That skateboarder though😮
A lot of Irish settled on the West Coast of the south Island. Christchurch was English and Dunedin Scottish. My grandad, god bless his soul, told me the Irish were treated very poorly back in the day.
thanks for the history lesson my friend need to dig abit deeper into that :)

As a person from Napier, I thought I saw my mother, but I didn't so yeah
It’s definitely a small world so chances are pretty high haha
last time I was in the bay my whole shit got jackkedddd

Glen can u explain us ur fitness secret
NZ doesn't need to import logs, our forestry industry is second to none, well it used to be.
Those trees are only pine, exported all over the world, highly sustainable,
South Africa?
Ireland and German 😅
Why does the description say "Napier City Council"? Is this a local government promotional video?
Haha actually that’s a mistake I think 😂 I need to change that thanks for letting us know and no noting about promoting. We name videos for ourselves

Just arrived!

I'm from Napier and I laughed when u said black sand beaches there's no sand on that beach and it's too dangerous to swim there
thank you for free walking tour but you just killed the fish
