Arman Alam I do, without a doubt... Best 'CAR' in its class, keyword: car... the car itself is impressive but not one for ownership, cause, it's a frikin BMW
God i love the way you review cars... this is the only car review channel i'm subbed to. No useless info , you manage to cover most important things on a car yet the reviews are never boring, they have a nice dynamic and speed. Keep up the good work!
I purchased the 2018 X1 in 2017 and absolutely LOVE it! Being 5' tall it is a perfect fit. My husband is 6'3 and has plenty of room as well. The x1 is sporty, fast and nimble! Getting lots of "nice car" comments gives one a sense of pride. BMW FOREVER!
Lol. How often can you find BMWs with adaptive cruise control? You barely find any on the used market and no one tick this box either when it’s new. How sad is that. Some cheaper makes have this feature as standard.
You need to see beyond this BMW sheep mentality. There are much better cars around. The reliability is also terrible. I’ve also been a BMW sheep until I got my Lexus.
@@attilab.2818 who cares about active cruise? Not many people. That's why no one bothers to waste their money. My partner has it on her car. Neither of us ever use it.
K_Q_ J_H are you serious? Even the 2017 XC90 is already outdated with those terrible taillights. Julian J He hasn't done one for the XC90 yet, why would he do the XC60 XD
ChelseaFC !!! xc90 outdated? wtf?! nah man, for nothing, maybe between 5/6 years it will be outdated. gle look more old, i would be that is a 2010 car !
The parcel shelf is very handy. Saab had it in the last 9.5 and I loved it. You can put things on it without pushing down to the luggage space below it.
The only thing missing in the review is the seats: I'm 176cm and 65kilos (so not big by any standards) and the seats are narrow and hard for me. Got a Passat as business car (I know, its completely different but the price tag is pretty much the same) and the seats in the BMW just hurt and don't compare on any level (i've got the xline with half leather sports seats or whatever it is, probably makes it even worse). Other then that, its a really, really good car and even the 18d (140hp) feels fast and really agile, handling is good and even a bit of fun. Engine much much quieter then diesel VWs. Tire roar a bit of an issue but you can get used to it. The interior looks small but you can fit loads of stuff inside. The onboard entertainment isn't cutting edge Volvo-type all-glass technology but its really easy to operate and does the job without being too obtrusive. Prefer that over the Volvo, honestly. Price isn't great: had Discovery Sport, Q3 and Tiguan on shortlist and this is small and expensive but the dealers just automatically reduce the tag price but aprox 10% which made it more acceptable (still more expensive then most competitors). A big benefit for me was no waiting time: in Central Europe there are loads of new ready-made cars across the specs range so you just choose the colour (blue is best for BMW).
I do love how Matt reviews cars. It's so witty, light-hearted, pleasant to watch. I literally think the guy is a lad I'd like to have a beer or two with.
I drove an x2 for about 3 days when my x3 was gertting its battery replaced and it was really fun to drive. It does 0-100 so quick and you won't even notice! Its too small for me though, I enjoy my x3.
Am reviewing this late 2020, near four years after this video was produced. Despite new rivals on the scene, methinks the X1 still holds its ground. BTW, I realize I miss the ol' Car Wow music in these videos, esp. the cue that announces Matt's conclusion.
Tbh ,I find that the interior and infotainment system really shows it’s age now ,and not only that but even when I think 4 years back when this was filmed ,I still think the interior was anything but modern and sleek.compare it to the xc60 which also was introduced in 2017 and there is a vast difference
If you in a market for small cross-over and you are looking good quality, X1 is an option but choose one with Aisin gearbox. Personally I'd choose Lexus NX any given day.
Curious question, the feature that allows you to fold the middle rear seat down (via pulling the strap from the back-seat as found in 1:09) ... does this come in the standard models or is this feature only available with the "reclining rear seat" extra add on? I don't care much for the sliding or reclining, but the middle seat being able to fold down is a game changer, especially for snowboarding, skiing and even fishing!
The BMW X1 is a great car however the only problem is that it's not the most reliable car. I've had mine for over a year and in that time I've had problems with rattles, the tailgate opening on it's own and a fault with the engine management system that kept the car off the road for over a week. The customer care from the local BMW dealership is not very good either.
Hi, so you claimed huge gear selector. The reason is that X1 is using an Aisin gearbox instead of ZF Electronics. No doubt this car has something like BMW DNA and almost perfect chassis. On the other hand they should work on a overall quality of materials in the interior to beat it's competitors (mainly Lexus and Audi). Speaking of Audi I can't stand their new firm display.
Still trying to decide between a tiguan, xc60 volvo, seat ateca and now this has my head wrecked even more saw one at the golf club Fri morning looked class
The base model audio system is the worst BMW has put out since 1980 with hollow sounding 4 small speakers. Use earpods if you plan on listening to music in this car. It'll also help to block out the high road and wind noise.
I bought BMW X1 in 2018 . I noticed discolouration of break disc 14 months after and at 6300 miles . BMW UK and dealer will not pay to correct it because it is more than a year old and has done 6000+ miles
I miss my BMW x1 Msport 2016 plate but did a mistake and decided to go and sell it. So i could go and get the JCW (John Cooper Works) Mini Clubman 2016. Only had the BMW for about 5months loved everything about my BMW X1 but only down thing i hated, was that when i drove it in snow it felt like it didn't grip the road properly and it started sliding but my JCW Mini Clubman in snow has way more grip and feels more sturdier in snow.
Are the X1 better option than say a kuga, CX5, ateca, tiguan, 3008,Q3, karoq??? Anyone any advice as I'm getting a SUV in the next 3-4. months and would appreciate further advice please
The only issue I noticed when I was a passenger in that car is tire noise as mentioned in the video, It's a lot noisier than most modern sedan cars. Not sure if it's the standard tires they fit in these cars or the under body sound deadening.
Only issue? How often can you find used BMWs with adaptive cruise control? You barely find any. How sad is that. Some cheaper makes have this feature as standard.
i have this car you mentioned all positive which i agree but there is one flaw which to me compromising safety the line change which just vibrate the steering but not activated till you go over 40 miles so if you felt in sleep and you crossed the line let say 38 miles does not activates in particular most of cities the speed limit 35 so you have to speed 40 and over it also does not have blind spot sensor
Mat, I cannot believe you keep on saying the idrive system is the best on the market... it was, but maybe 10 years ago! any new touch screen like ones in new golf is infinitly better. I suggest a simple test: get 2 people to start the car and set navigation system to a desired destination. I can already tell you what the results would be: as the touch screen user cruises along on the highway, the bmw person still turns that idrive wheel. It is so indirect! I love bmws but idrive is a relict from the past!!!!

Matt please review the volvo XC60 we all wanna see how it stands with the germans and british
The xc60 isn't comparable to the germans anymore. It is outdated and a new one is on the way

anyone remember when iDrive infotainment debuted in the 7 series in 2002 how all the journalist said it was horrible to use ?

yeah because in 2002 it was horrible. now it's very good because what wouldn't get better after 15 years of tuning?

yup.. but now idrive is the best infotainment...

Is it a rebodied Mini Countryman?
Curious question, the feature that allows you to fold the middle rear seat down (via pulling the strap from the back-seat as found in 1:09) ... does this come in the standard models or is this feature only available with the "reclining rear seat" extra add on?
I don't care much for the sliding or reclining, but the middle seat being able to fold down is a game changer, especially for snowboarding, skiing and even fishing!
