I just discovered Black Mountain last night as they opened up for Primus in Pittsburgh. The second the opening note for Mothers of the Sun started, I was hooked.
Yeah... That's a good band......

If you've heard Black Mountain Live - you know how searing the guitar tone is - I'm impressed they got the levels dialed in
3:50 is where it's at. I love duel vocals...she is so awesome...she seems so nervous and introverted when being interviewed...however, when it's time to jam she goes to a different place.
Its that place when we were kids that made us feel safe and protected.. Love these guys so much.

Over the years, as I've gotten older, I've drifted away from worshiping at the altar of guitar wankery, but holy fuck that solo in Bakersfield. Sublime, brain-melting beauty.
That last song is a masterpiece
damn her voice kicks ass, the guitar player is rockn, the drummer phenomenal, the keyboards AMAZING, and that bass ties it all together ridiculously well.

The amount of Pink Floyd is huge.
What a majestic couple of voices from from those two.
I came down the comment road for this one. I'm not disapointed to find it in the few first lines. A nice mix from albums like "Animal" and "Wish you were here" and a bit of vocals from "The wall". Nothing too much. Love it.
Glad I'm not the only one who was thinking this.
Some bass funk like Waters, too.

I'm happy to discover this band, so varied influences from the 70s
I've listened to this session perhaps 35 times this week. It's melting my mind, and I can't get it out of my head. Makes work way more enjoyable, except I don't want my coworkers to catch me rocking in my cubicle.
Mothers of the son is one of the best songs I've listened to in like 10 years....there are so many layers to it and the duel vocals are freaking amazing.

That Black Flag tee shirt is s badge of honour for him. In fact, he recently did an amazing impromptu "isolation" acoustic guitar version of "Fix Me" from the Black Flag Nervous Breakdown 7" on his FB page...following with a Velvet Underground tune and, a Martha and the Muffins tune in subsequent days...
He's a wonderful guy too

He has his own side project called Sinoia Caves, check him out if you dig that analog synth vibe
I absolutely love Sinoia Caves. I found out about that project - and later about Black Mountain - through the film 'Beyond the Black Rainbow'

I never liked that song till I saw them live, then everything changed. Line Them All Up is still my fave from this album, though.
@@Moleskineman It was their first song I heard, thanks to KEXP, and I'm not exaggerating by saying that I'd listen to it for a few days in a row constantly. Once in a decade you hear music that just hits your brain so hard you never thought it would be possible. I had a chance to see them live a few months later and loved every minute of the gig, it's a criminally underrated band.
The mixing was really phenomenal on this recording. Thanks--WOW!!!
