It only took me 17 years of swinging a maul to split wood before buying the Huskee wood splitter....lol I guess we are both old school until our backs start to hurt. Good advice on getting the kids off the computer/phone and get them outdoors!
Got mine about a month ago. Only thing I noticed was the channel the head travels in, it is gouging the side and bottom pretty good. I'll see how bad it gets in the future.

Why don’t you split vertically. Just wondering what the difference is.
It is easier for me this way, If I am doing it verticle I would let it pile up
