I have to be honest when talking about Indonesia, without many people realizing that nature in Indonesia is also very cruel, often raging, abnormal and brutal. It turned out to be much more amazing, that's when I fell in love with nature in Indonesia. But on the other hand it is also deadly, brutal, often occurs, many casualties and is written in European history. If you know all the volcanoes, rivers, lakes, caves, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rice fields, forests, wastelands and others in Indonesia (Nature), the nature is very insane. This is a little inaccurate. As mention in article 33 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution. Papua as province doesn't have right to control gold mining. Gold as natural resource are fully controlled by the Central Goverment. However Papua get Natural Resource Revenue Sharing (Dana Bagi Hasil Sumber Daya Alam/DBH SDA). DBH SDA are funds sourced from non-tax state revenues (Penerimaan Negara Bukan Pajak/PNBP) in the State Budget (Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara/APBN) which are allocated to regions based on a certain percentage figure to fund regional needs. For information, the amount of revenue sharing from natural resources in Papua is due to the large contribution of government revenues from the nickel and gold mining, namely PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI). As is known, the Government of Indonesia in 2018 officially owned 51.24% (from 9.38%) of PTFI shares through PT Inalum (Persero) with a transaction value of Rp. 65.6 trillion. From this The Central Government allocates 10% of PTFI's shares to the Papua and Mimika Regional Governments.

As for you question about Papua, we did exploit the hell out of them back in the Soeharto era (the dictator), they did not have much political right. Papuan (the tribal part of the region at least) are still being treated as second class but I think things are getting better nowadays, albeit slowly. FYI Papuans have black skin, and as an American, you probably understand what that means. Also, the term Nusantara is correct and common way to describe Indonesia archipelago. For atheists, or non-recognized religion, you still have to choose for formality reasons. But whatever you are doing with your faith/religion, it is your own business and generally tolerated (for example, many people claim to be muslims in their document, but in reality they have traditional faith), unless if you are in Aceh which have syaria law. the mines in West Papua is also co-owned by United States of America, because when our 2nd president Soeharto rise into power , America supported his coup (behind the screen) and was given the mines in Papua as "payment". Until recently, when our president negotiated for the ownership of the mines there. the 1st president, Soekarno was seen as "closer" to the Chinese and Soviet. So when Soeharto wants to stage a coup, the America supported him (thus Indonesia is on the west side in cold war). Which leads to the persecution of Chinese ethnicity and the massacre of the communist supporters in Indonesia. (also, we were taught that "Truman Doctrine" back in the days). Although that doctrine has died out today, the lingering hatred toward Chinese people stays in a form of racism. Ppl who live near mountains know well their surroundings (instead of us who live in city) so they can deal with those things. They have their own "calender" to predict the disaster and in fact. They sometimes dont care government warning bcs they believe it's common for them and it's God's "signs and gifts". 4. Malay language and Indonesian language are the same. In fact, not only Indonesians do Malay language but also Malaysians, Bruneians and Singaporeans. Fyi, Indonesia was born with traditional beliefs (which some of them still exist in some areas). At around year 1590 Dutch came and colonized Indonesia for 350 years. After that Japan came at year 1942, colonized Indonesia for 3,5 years. Finally we declare our independence on 1945 after Japan surrender and loss at Pacific War almost at the same time. 6. Religion is "needed" to be written in our ID. Yet most ppl now modernized by knowledge and science from western point of views so they dont deal too much about it and use that requirment on paper only. Not only that, in the book it is explained that the incident is located in 1 country but in different regions. Was it the only tragedy that was written by the International? No, there is a lot of history of major natural disasters in Indonesia that are written internationally.
I have to be honest when talking about Indonesia, without many people realizing that nature in Indonesia is also very cruel, often raging, abnormal and brutal. Total natural disasters in Indonesia (8 Years Calculation) :

It turned out to be much more amazing, that's when I fell in love with nature in Indonesia. This is not only about beauty but also about history which has a huge impact on many countries in the world. Nature in Indonesia is not only beautiful, but also very unique, different, diverse, strange and great. But on the other hand it is also deadly, brutal, often occurs, many casualties and is written in European history.
If you know all the volcanoes, rivers, lakes, caves, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rice fields, forests, wastelands and others in Indonesia (Nature), the nature is very insane. For me personally, a visit to Indonesia is the most memorable for me because I have visited 51 natural tourist attractions.

This is a little inaccurate. As mention in article 33 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution. Papua as province doesn't have right to control gold mining. Gold as natural resource are fully controlled by the Central Goverment. However Papua get Natural Resource Revenue Sharing (Dana Bagi Hasil Sumber Daya Alam/DBH SDA).
DBH SDA are funds sourced from non-tax state revenues (Penerimaan Negara Bukan Pajak/PNBP) in the State Budget (Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara/APBN) which are allocated to regions based on a certain percentage figure to fund regional needs.
For information, the amount of revenue sharing from natural resources in Papua is due to the large contribution of government revenues from the nickel and gold mining, namely PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI). As is known, the Government of Indonesia in 2018 officially owned 51.24% (from 9.38%) of PTFI shares through PT Inalum (Persero) with a transaction value of Rp. 65.6 trillion. From this The Central Government allocates 10% of PTFI's shares to the Papua and Mimika Regional Governments.

As for you question about Papua, we did exploit the hell out of them back in the Soeharto era (the dictator), they did not have much political right. Papuan (the tribal part of the region at least) are still being treated as second class but I think things are getting better nowadays, albeit slowly. FYI Papuans have black skin, and as an American, you probably understand what that means. Also, the term Nusantara is correct and common way to describe Indonesia archipelago.
For atheists, or non-recognized religion, you still have to choose for formality reasons. But whatever you are doing with your faith/religion, it is your own business and generally tolerated (for example, many people claim to be muslims in their document, but in reality they have traditional faith), unless if you are in Aceh which have syaria law.

Even in Indonesia there are Orthodox Christian communities, Baha'is, Jews, and others. I live in Sumatra Island (Riau province) and i never experience an earthquake so when the video says 4 earthquakes a day i am shocked cause i just knew about this. Been java and Bali and also papua. Maybe what they meant small earhtquakes? I don't know.

Also about us speaking English and they call it money language. It is like if you apply to a company for a job and you can speak English,they will pay you more. That's why we learn English (in my case i learnt it since junior high) but today kids elementary school study English.

the mines in West Papua is also co-owned by United States of America, because when our 2nd president Soeharto rise into power , America supported his coup (behind the screen) and was given the mines in Papua as "payment". Until recently, when our president negotiated for the ownership of the mines there.
the 1st president, Soekarno was seen as "closer" to the Chinese and Soviet. So when Soeharto wants to stage a coup, the America supported him (thus Indonesia is on the west side in cold war). Which leads to the persecution of Chinese ethnicity and the massacre of the communist supporters in Indonesia. (also, we were taught that "Truman Doctrine" back in the days).
Although that doctrine has died out today, the lingering hatred toward Chinese people stays in a form of racism. Then there's the problem with "religion", as many of Indonesian are still uneducated, they took any "propaganda" to the face... especially when it is using "religion" as "mask". (especially in Java)

to answer your question on the religion thing, yeah we basically kinda have to choose one of the six recognized religions, but it’s just for the paper lol, so there are actually a lot of ppl who don’t practice their religion on real life bcs it’s just for the paper. and if you’re a tourist they don’t rlly gaf abt your religion since it’s not our business, except if you wanted to go to aceh you have to follow their sharia law, so yeah great reaction by the way :)

First of all, hope you do fine and thanks for the video reaction of my country. However:
1. The mining thing is about politic and stuffs, here what I remember that there ware issues which spread to any other issues such as religion, races, etc. I can tell it was one of our country's failure of administrations.
2. I spell it as nga-yo-gya-kar-ta.
3. Volcano and earthquake are still "alive" here in our country. Ppl who live near mountains know well their surroundings (instead of us who live in city) so they can deal with those things. They have their own "calender" to predict the disaster and in fact. They sometimes dont care government warning bcs they believe it's common for them and it's God's "signs and gifts".
4. Malay language and Indonesian language are the same. In fact, not only Indonesians do Malay language but also Malaysians, Bruneians and Singaporeans. Most of us understand the words (or sentence) to eact other but ofc there are some different pronounciations.
5. Fyi, Indonesia was born with traditional beliefs (which some of them still exist in some areas). At around year 1590 Dutch came and colonized Indonesia for 350 years. After that Japan came at year 1942, colonized Indonesia for 3,5 years. Finally we declare our independence on 1945 after Japan surrender and loss at Pacific War almost at the same time.
6. Religion is "needed" to be written in our ID. Yet most ppl now modernized by knowledge and science from western point of views so they dont deal too much about it and use that requirment on paper only. (PS: dont worry if you are a tourist, bcs we do only care your official documents, money and good behaviour)
7. Haha.. your look on the "dress". Since Im a Catholic, I cant really comment for that. But what I learn from my fams and friends who are moslems and obey the rule, they dont look like that tho.

Lets talk about Papua. I cannot answer if indeed Papua is been exploit. But as far as i can understand, Article 33 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution affirms that; "The earth, water and natural resources contained therein are controlled by the state and used for the greatest prosperity of the people."
Considering that minerals and coal as natural resources contained in the earth are non-renewable natural resources, their management needs to be carried out as optimally as possible, efficient, transparent, sustainable and environmentally sound, as well as equitable in order to obtain the greatest benefit for the prosperity of the people in a sustainable manner.
i think it's okay if you don't choose between that religions if you are a tourist. but as indonesian, u need to register 1 of that religions cause in Indonesian id card still needs to state your religion. there was an idea about erasing religion part on id card but it still becomes very controversial cause indonesia is always religious. since kingdom era back then to nowadays. pardon my bad english.

in Indonesia only 6 religions are recognized, because they are used to create personal identity, and religion is always listed if you buy a house, car, motorbike, even Javanese people have their own religion called kejawen but when you make an identity you have to choose one from six recognized religions
You missed the news. If you are 100% Kejawen or Sunda Wiwitan, you now don't need to write 1 of 6 religions on your ID card. You can write with Belief in Almighty God (Kepercayaan kepada Tuhan yang Maha Esa).
