I may be a biased opinion as an Arsenal fan but although he did use his hand against Ireland you cannot deny the player he was. There are a lot of amazing players who aren't completely perfect proffesionals, Cantona being one. But also Maradona, Zidane and it goes on. You came here wanting to start an argument when in fact all you've done is given this video a view, because lets face it no one is ever going to remember you for commenting on this video, but no one will ever forget Thierry Henry

What are United's irish roots? Here's a thing. When Newton Heath changed their name to Manchester United, they almost picked Manchester Celtic instead because of the Irish who helped form them, plus the huge Irish support since the club was formed. Like I said, read Celtic United and you'll see what I mean. When the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway was being built, thousands of Irish went over to work there. That's how Newton Heath was formed. That's United's Irish roots.

I was there that night. I saw the smug sneer on his face. He only changed his tune when replays showed he handled the ball on purpose. Before that he whined it was an accident. Then for him to come out and say replay the game AFTER FIFA said it wouldn't be replayed was the most sickening thing of all. He may be a legend to gooners but to real match-going fans he'll be forever remembered as an arrogant cheat, an embarrassment to the French notion of fair play.
ok anyway no point in me carrying this on - i personally really like henry as a player and his loyalty to arsenal football club is different to most other players who just play for money (i bet if he got offered he would play there for no pay at all) i really like him as a player and i do think that what he did in the international game was really bad but i dont see him as much of a cheat tbh

i saw that interview. but you're not Irish, oli, so you don't know keane like we do here. first, he's trying to make a name for himself on telly so he critises everything the Irish team do. he even had a pop at the Irish fans during the Euros by saying we celebrate mediocrity by supporting the national team when we were so crap. he failed miserably as a manager so now he's trying TV. seriously, he'd say anything for publicity. he's trying to be the big-shot hardman on telly. we ignore him here.

It wasn't the fact that he handled the ball, it was his behaviour afterwards, sitting on the pitch with the Irish players trying to pretend he was sympathising with them putting his arm around them. Sickening. Then his sneering arrogance about having a replay which even embarrassed his fellow countrymen (Ginola, Cantona). French fans will tell you he's not even French, he's African because no true French player would behave like he did. He's a disgrace, talented or not.

After 7 injury-hit seasons, after 48 league goals in 2 seasons, he could have repayed the fans, the club and esp WENGER because those were the only things RVP had. But no, he chose to think 'what can the club do for me?' Uber selfish. Im a Gooner and i have NO regrets for RVP to leave. He was never a legend. I would choose Parlour or someone else over him any day of the week.

i saw henry play twice. great player, but arrogant as hell. remember that infamous penalty with that other french guy, pires? that's arrogance. as for the Irish incident, henry made a lot of sneering comments after that game which were obnoxious. he only said replay the game when he had a call from sepp blatter, and by then it was way too late. just look at all the comments from other people, including his own countrymen. and french fans threw eggs at their own HQ, they were so embarrassed.

You say most Irish people wouldn't support United if they weren't successful, but you can say that of any English club. Why do you think there's so many wannabee scousers? Why don't Irish fans support Everton instead of Liverpool? Because Liverpool were more successful. Never mind the fact that Everton is a Catholic club and Liverpool Protestant. And you can say the same of Celtic. How many Irish even heard of Celtic before 1967? None. At least United have strong Irish roots.

i saw henry play for the arse 4 times, twice at highbury and twice at Old Trafford, and every time he ran complaining to the ref practically every chance he got, once in particular when he was tackled by Roy Keane, and he waved an imaginery red card in the ref's face trying to get Keano sent off. i'd call that cheating. he was a good player, but outside highbury he was despised for his arrogance (remember that infamous penalty with pires?) anyway he'll always be remembered for that handball.
certainly not an arsenal fan. i'm first and foremost a football fan, and football is more than scoring goals. it's how to behave on and off a football pitch, something your 'legend' would never understand, whereas Liam Brady, as well as being one of the best players ever to play in england, was an excellent role model for your club and the sport in general. while henry may be adored by arsenal, the rest of the world see him for what he is. a smarmy sneering cheat.
