I brought my kids up catching White Bass too. From using white Erie Dearie weighted spinners trolling on Koshkonong to casting small spinners with white grubs up River near the rapids. They hit, they fight, and a few in the pan can taste pretty good. Love watching your videos because they are timely and informative. I hope to be watching you for many years to come. I've got a lot to learn about catching Walleyes on flies.

Discovered your video a bit late but learned a bunch from your pumping flies videos. I bought some pencil sinkers yesterday and waiting for weekend to try it out. I have no hand-tied fly but I guess small 1" grubs hooks onto an octopus hook will work?
Year round on Lady bago, fishing for them on the ice is a blast.
I rode my bike to work for years and years and crossed the Yahara River on the way home in the morning looking for white bass.
When they finally showed up I would get impatient and try catching them. Then a week later they would start hitting.
There is one spot where the channel widens and they spread out in that area. I'm gonna try out flies this year, usually I fished with spinners

My favorite for bass and crappies in the river has always been an 1/8 oz. jig head with a white Mr. twister. Always fished nightcrawlers for white bass with a friend of mine and his dad. I really need to get back into fishing. Been away from it for 5 years now...

Ahhhh...time has changed in varying degrees the techniques used to entice our river friends who 'run when the lilacs are blooming'. As for this OG, my first white bass, caught so very long ago, hammered a chartreuse Wally Diver. 💪💪💪💪💪 These white bass are cool, Oshkosh is cool, but I still think I favor some monstrous 'urban ugly' rockies. Points to the select fish with the angriest red eyes.
White bass is probably one of my favorite eating fish. Most don't know, just cut out that red meat and zipper em and they are delicious.
How do you zipper them?
@@Dz3no2 when you fillet them, cut a bit away from the skin so you get rid of that red meat and then cut at an angle in that mudline on either side and pull it out like a zipper
