Love the outcome, sadly the bloody dress didn't work out for you. But I can tell you that it is extremely difficult to get a good blood colour achieved on fabrics, any red with a hint of blue will have the blue coming through quite strongly, something to do with how the colour spectrum works on our eyes and even more so when captured by recording media. I've worked for a period in a theatre dress department, and the necessity of bloodied garments came up a couple of times. We experimented, got great blood colour on a linen shirt, a nice deep rusty blood, which with stage lighting turned a rich warm pink, for which we got shouted at. Hopefully you did win the contest, and I think that beautiful chiffon shirt will have plenty of other uses outside of spooky Halloween, any elegant occasion and you have the right top. Well done!
This is actually one of the things I enjoy about sewing -- part of it is careful planning and precision, and part of it is just letting the materials and the process take you along. Lovely project!
Holy moly you're a busy lady! That tea sounds amazing! "Ish" is my favourite type of costume. Chiffon is demon fabric. Definitely a bit easier to make it behave for cutting on the carpet rather than on a slippery table. Perfectly pressed pleats are so pleasingly pretty. I tried to dye a pair of inexpensive cotton gloves with black dye (for my son's zombie costume) trying to get them grey. They turned pink. He was seriously unimpressed. The outfit looked amazing. Well done. Thanks so much for sharing your creation. Take care of you.
So while you seem not completely satisfied with the bloody ombré shift, I’m hugely impressed with the results! The whole outfit is absolutely gorgeous and the setup you have in your yard definitely added to the ambiance! Very nicely done and I love the whole look! And while I know (rather intimately) how annoying loose hair can be, your incredibly beautiful and long hair added just that extra oomph to the effect! Congrats on getting it all done in time!
Thank you! I do really love the ombre shift; the color is fairly smooth and really beautiful. That it didn't meet its objective for THIS project diminished my affection for it in no way.
Love it! Hopefully next year, I'll be practiced enough to attempt something like this. You've definitely inspired me to give it a shot. AWESOME music, by the way. :-)
Love this! The final look is killer. 😝 The chiffon shirt is just amazing. A million kudos to you. Just FYI, you missed a piece of captioning around the seven minute mark when complaining about the chiffon bits all over your house. Thanks for the CC!
I haven't seen anyone else mention it, but I think Morgan Donner has a really good tutorial for French seamed sleeve gussets. Might help next time. Great video! Love the Tudor period
Idk if I'm the first to tell you but I'm new to your channel and noticed you had trouble with the gusset french seam stuff, Morgan Donner has a really good video tutorial on that!
I have only recently discovered your channel. I subscribed I was so impressed. Abd not only with your sewing skills. Add in cute little girl and black cat and I'm hooked. Xx
I do so adore your work and videos. the thing I'm most curious about at the moment, though, is how costumers find out about challenges and events in tome to participate in them?
This one I found out about because I am friends with Mathew so I knew he was going to be doing it. There are some places on the interwebs where challenges are posted for Costube and for other platforms. Ourshieldmaiden on Instagram has a great challenge going on right now
I haven’t worked much with chiffon. Is it easier to measure and mark a cutting line, rather than drawing a thread? My usual instinct is to draw a thread, but not all fabrics will allow that.
Love this! Very spooky and Halloween appropriate! Obviously you should have spent more time giving PA Bran treats instead of filming, though, given his complaints... One thing... your captions are somewhat wonky... appearing before you speak, or hanging around onscreen for awhile after you're done talking. I don't know if that's adjustable? But a fantastic video nonetheless! I also adore the brand-new dye pot with sticker still on.
It is; in my haste to get them up, I didn’t proof them as I usually do. I’ll go back today and add the one that’s missing and rearrange the ones that are wrong.
I can't...but I feel like I should offer extra points for the creepy music. :) Well done!
It’s okay; I’m perfectly content with a virtual gold star! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
That chiffon shirt is so dreamy!
Scariest part for me was you dyeing with your bare hands! Aaaah!!!!
The final outfit is amazing and spooky!!
I like to live dangerously 😉

Oh no pink gloves! Fabrics take dye so oddly sometimes.

You win hands down working with evil chiffon! I loathe that fabric!
The music is hauntingly beautiful. I could listen to that forever.
Love it! Hopefully next year, I'll be practiced enough to attempt something like this. You've definitely inspired me to give it a shot. AWESOME music, by the way. :-)
Ahhh starching the chiffon was brilliant!! I’ve just avoided it for 10 years! Also I can’t get over your hair!!
Epic ruffle-constructing music!

Oh thank you! I script my videos and upload them to make CC; that was obviously unscripted. I’ll fix it ASAP!
This outfit really is just so beautiful and elegant! And like everyone else, the music was a perfect touch 😊
Ohhh, it's SO nice! Gothic Elizabethan Witch aesthetic is #goals
this is so much fun, I just found your channel. Thank you. I look forward to your next video.
I thought I'd spotted lobster rose's work in your mug line up before! 😻
LOVVVVE her stuff!
🥺 I love this😭 i want all of life to be like this all the time and i kind of don't care anymore how mocked it is. I want live like an Addams 💀⚰️😄
It looks Spookily awesome :) Nice job!
I like how the shift looks!

The dress came out beautifully. Thank you for the video :-)
This turned out so pretty! But also: HOLY HAIR!

Thank you! Unfortunately PA Bran has passed away, but the kiddo remains!
@@OpusElenae sorry to hear that. They are such good friends. Hugs. Xxx
I 🕸absolutely award extra points for Hauntingly🥀Beautiful musical accompaniment 🖤 🦇
🕷Both pieces are Spookingly💀Special. Wonderful reveal 👏
Nice work. Wish I knew what your saying tho. Sadly no CC available :(
CC just finished processing, it should be available now! I’m so sorry about the wait.
Oooooh it turned out so good! Super spooookky 💚
Thank you! 💜

@@OpusElenae thank you!
Ooooooo I’m so glad youre entering his competition! Are you taking his class too?
Not yet; I don't have the spare funds right now, but I know people who have and it's UTTERLY WORTH IT.
hello my fellow croissants!
I haven’t worked much with chiffon. Is it easier to measure and mark a cutting line, rather than drawing a thread? My usual instinct is to draw a thread, but not all fabrics will allow that.
I’m not sure about silk chiffon (I’ve never worked with it) but this polyester is too delicate to have pulled a thread. It kept breaking.
I’m only in the intro, where did you find that incredibly adorable sweater!?! I’ll comment more after I’ve watched this.
Kohls, about.... 12 years ago, unfortunately. It’s been one of my favorite pieces since.
Oooh, I’ll have to keep an eye out for something similar!!!
#Aesthetic Nothing better than Gothic.
Laudna vibes intensifies
Embarrassingly, I had to go look that up but lemme say I’m flattered af
@@OpusElenae I mean, it has all: the palette, the bird skull, the strike of white, the eyebags.... xD
Fantastic work! I must ask - skull sweater. Source? Pattern?
Kohls about 12 years ago. Sorry!
I love your witch hat in the intro. Where did you get that?
On Amazon, I think? I’ve had it for a while!

@@OpusElenae I'm loving how you're so cool about the captioning corrections 🖤🧡🖤
@@rd6203 The whole point is to make them better for the people who need them; it's the least I can do to make sure they're accessible.
@@OpusElenae Thank you so much! Captions really help with my comprehension.
It was too dark, I couldn't see anything in the revel
