  • Ghumat/ ghumot is a percussion instrument native to Goa, India. Sai Damodar Group, a group of young amateur artists who sing and play devotional music (aratis) display the essence of Goan folk music using ghumat/ ghumot and other instruments like dhol, taaso, samel, kaasaale etc. which they are trying to preserve & propagate, blending them with harmonium in this performance. The rhythm, energy and the spirit of these team with member as young as 14 years, transports you to another world. A group of amateur artists who have been performing and winning awards at the traditional devotional music festival and events. They have the potential to elevate the indigenous Goan musical instruments to the global level. They are Ghumat Aarti (devoational songs) singers and performers - 'Sai Damodar Group' from Margao, Goa who play and experiment with Goan folk music and percussion instruments like ghumat, dhol, taaso, samel, kaasaale and also create a fusion with harmonium and vocals.
