    Drs do such weird sh!t. I remember a veterinarian I was working with, she got bit somehow, and she literally sanitized and cleaned the wound and sutured her wound shut with absolutely no pain meds, just adrenaline. Standing in the middle of the treatment room having a full blown conversation while suturing like it was nothing. Then she went back to doing her surgeries and appts for the day like nothing happened. Also had a veterinarian that INSISTED on leaving his shirt and white coat unbuttoned at the top so his chest hair hung out all day. 😐

    I had an emergency colonoscopy done to me when I was a young very ill teenager. I couldn't keep food down. I ultimately had 14 ulcers bleeding from the penicillin I was perscribed from my illness. At the time, I didn't know what the test was called. It was extremely crampy when they had to position the camera around a bend in the intestines. The nurse tried her best to distract me from the pain by telling me to watch my insides displayed on the little television. Decades later, I had my first scheduled colonoscopy. It was then that I realized that I had a colonoscopy as a teen. I have since had several colonoscopies...all with anesthesia ❤

You breathe through your nose instead, and no you don’t feel like your choking. This is an endoscopy, not a colonoscopy. A colonoscopy is inserted through the back passage. They can't put you to sleep for an endoscopy because you have to swallow while they are inserting the tube.
      And either this one is a new version or it depends on the country because I had an endoscopy in the UK, about 6 years ago, and the tube they used was much thicker than the one in this video. It was at least an inch thick and it was really hard to get it down my throat because I was constantly gagging. It was a horrible experience. I also had a camera through my nose to check my esophagus while swallowing pieces of bread and that was a really thin tube. That wasn't bad at all. I wonder why they can't use a thin tube like that for endoscopies.

    Finally, a place to share my story.
    I had to endure this because i suffered from ulzers.
    The woman sitting on me, to hold me down, was staring me the whole time in the eyes. I had eye contact with her. When we where done, and they removed the thing, i am sure that we connected telepathically. The joy in her eyes, and the confused look on my face.
    I knew how it felt to deepthroat and i know that she knew that i just had a moment of realisation.
    I never been the same since.

      You'd be surprised how you can handle it. I had this done 6 years ago and would also consider my gag reflex really bad plus i was very nauseus from not eating 15 hours prio to this and due to very bad fear and anxiety. You gag once they go in, after that it feels like something stuck in your mouth that you cant swallow. The key thing is to breath through the nose and relax.

    In Russia (and maybe ex-USSR countries) you do gastroscopia without anesthesia. Doctor just sprays some lidocaine in your mouth, and do it when you're awake. It takes 30 seconds or more to do it. Have been doing it every year from 11 years, and I got used to it. If you concentrate on your breathing, it will be not so painful

    I had to get an endoscopy and it was just a few months ago. It was the first time I have ever been put on anesthesia so I was out in like 3 seconds but there’s nothing to be afraid about. It doesn’t hurt afterwards with your throat or anything either. So for anyone who might have to have it done, don’t be afraid. (I’m 15 btw)

    • @anita64
      @anita64 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I asked for sedation when I was scheduled for an endoscopy, and they told me they can't sedate you or give anything else but a local anaesthetic (a spray for the throat) because you need to swallow to get the tube down your throat. I'm shocked to hear you were given an anaesthetic because it would have saved me from going through a very traumatising experience. By the way, the tube they inserted when I had the endoscopy was much thicker than the one used in the video, it was at least an inch thick. If it was a thin tube like the one shown here, I bet it would have been a lot easier!
