Hi, I have a problem with my setup and was wondering if there's a solution for it. I have a basic setup with just HDS LIve 9 and Point 1 linked up via NMEA 2000. Everything works as expected, I can see both my direction path and my heading path separately shown on the map and working great. However, I have a very annoying issue. Whenever I go "in reverse" or let the drift carry me down the river, if I mark something on my side view, the waypoint is being created on the opposite (wrong) side of the boat. It seems that the fact that I have a Point 1 antenna, so the system should know where I'm facing at, doesn't affect the waypoint creation process and that the system "thinks" I'm heading down the river, front facing. Which is untrue. Is this expected - and more importatly, is there a fix for this?
Hi Jacob, any guide for when you go to your calibration screen, as you described, and you can not see the rate of turn or heading - these are both blank on my HDS LIVE 12?
Hello!! I would like to ask a question about point-1! When I installed point-1 on my elite fs9, and was ready to calibrate, I found that the rate of turn was already 5-6 degrees, but my boat was tied to the shore and didn't move! What is the reason?
You will need to go out to calibrate the Point-1, you cannot to it while tied to the dock. Please check if heading was right or local field % is less than 10. Please contact our service department if you're still having issues.
The TMC came with the ghost trolling motor. Does that have to be hooked to the pedal if I have a .1 and if so, can I hide that TMC under the dash and just have the .1 visible on the boat? I don’t even understand really why I need a TMC?
Yes, you will need to connect the TMC-1 to the pedal, pag, 22 softwaredownloads.navico.com/Lowrance/FTP/Lowrance_Software%20-%20Copy/documents/Ghost-series_IM_EN_988-12451-005_w.pdf Please follow the steps to callibrate the TMC www.lowrance.com/en-nz/help--support/knowledge-base/?guideId=522-853
Do you have a Point-1 antenna, or is it the TMC-1 (trolling motor compass) Please send us a message via facebook with a screenshot of the device list and your units serial numbers
So had 2 point 1's installed, 1 in the bow and 1 in the transom. The installer didnt label them as "bow" and "transom" so Im not sure which is which. One is labeled Point 1 6304 and the other is labeled Point 1 6311. Which is which or how can I tell??? Thanks
... Very frustrating to have questions to Jacob and no answers. Chances are very good you already solved your issue. My first thought for anyone else having this question, Bring up the screens on the console and bow units that show the Point 1 in the list. Unplug one of the NMEA 2K Point 1 connectors at the N2K backbone. One of the units will now, NOT show the Point 1 in the list. Mark/flag that cable with white electrical tape and note it with black permanent marker. Now you also the other N2K cable it the other Point 1. .
Hi, Yes the unit has a built in GPS. The Point1 is a GPS reveiver as well as a compass. You are calibrating the compass in this video. The Point-1 can be used for several reasons. Some like to have a Point-1 mounted in a different area of the boat typically over a transducer. This way when they mark a spot it is where the transducer actually recorded the area. Another reason would be if your unit were mounted under an enclosure with metal that blocks the signal. The point one can also be used to synchronize a radar overlay. In the majority of the installations a Point-1 is not required.
... Yes, I am aware the video title is, "Calibrating your Point-1 Antenna". At 2:08 you say, "we are ready to use this unit on the water". No mention of setting the unit up to use, "Heading Up", and "Heading Extension". Two VERY IMPORTANT points. Most people DO NOT KNOW THIS, that's why many are seeking ALL the information to get the unit set up for their newly installed Point 1. Please never leave out any steps no matter how small they may seem to the experts. Thank you.

In my opinion it was easier to use my trolling motor for rate of speed turning. Tried both and TM seemed easier. Just FYI. Great video none the less.

Wish Jacob told us what extra features or precision the point one provides
Any suggestions why i cant calibrate the the point 1AP antenna. Keeps timing out

@@lowrance so then I’ll keep it plugged in and I’ll just put it under the dash with all the wires
My HD’s 9 live doesn’t have point 1 antenna. My problem is my boat icon is always points down, even if I’m course up or heading north
my point one compass does not show up in my device list, why?
I have a HDS Live 12 and 7 with the Ghost all hooked to the Neama network

Do you have to disconnect the nema cable like it says in your instructions?

Doesn't this unit already have a GPS antenna built in? Does the point 1 antenna provide you with a better signal?
