The Mets are a Complete Disaster | Mets'd Up Podcast

  • This team is legit unbelievable. Not only did they get swept by the Dodgers, blow another lead, not score for 20 innings, and Pete Alonso might’ve gotten hurt. Jorge Lopez threw his glove into the crowd and then might’ve said the Mets are the worst team in the league and that he’s the worst teammate in the league. It never ends it actually never ends. Also breaking down Tylor Megill, checking in on Reed Garrett, explaining what’s happening with the casino in Flushing, and a Prospect Report.

    *Player chokes and punches his 2nd basemen in the middle of the game*
    Mets: Looks good.
    *Player antagonizes the fans for one month*
    Mets: This is cute.
    Player says, “Damn I suck and this team sucks”.
    Mets: Oh nah, you gotta GO!

    Even when Steve asks him to clarify, Lopez said “yeah , probably”, he clearly wasn’t tracking what gelbs was asking and Gelbs ran with it.
    Disgusting behaviour by Gelbs and Dicomo imo.

    I won’t lie, I couldn’t stand your show when you were still signed with the Mets, it just felt like state-run propaganda. Since leaving, you’ve really grown on me. I loved the section of this that felt like The Power Broker, please more behind the scenes content on the dirty politics and money that surrounds this all.
    I have been feeling the same way with Cohen lately, he clearly doesn’t really care about baseball or the team, the whole stadium experience is about building the grandest circus in our new Rome. Really interested for what comes out of all this. James, you should write an investigate piece as this goes on.

    I don't necessarily want more, but that was an epic 10 minute rant. Each point devastating and indicative. I wish Cohen would hear it and really see. You need at least 2-3 major leaders/stars ADDED. Lindor is NOT a 3 hitter, or a 1-3 hitter, on a WS team. Neither is Alonso really. Nimmo is not a "star." We need to understand that a team with few perennial all-stars, or none, and absolutely zero hall of famers (unless pete gets in on HR alone) is not gonna win anything against the mammoths in the Bronx, PHL, LA, ATL, and the real contenders in BTL and Houston and Arlington and Chicago; and other teams with apparently great systems in Tampa, Milkwauki, Cleveland, etc.
    This team is so baked. ugh. I honestly can say this is the least fun team I've rooted for in my 30+ years of fandom. Not just NYM fandom. Of all the teams.

    How about an episode about what can be done? Is a clear out of the most of the team needed? Who would you keep? Is there a leader out there that can be brought in? Lopez did what you wanted a player to do, lost his head and threw his toys out of the pram. Respect to him for being honest.

    The Mets need to learn the definition of at bat plate approach and productive outs. Linder has good numbers but the in between are guaranteed pop ups and strike outs of up to between 10 or 20 consecutive heart grueling at bats.

  • @ACPhila
    @ACPhila หลายเดือนก่อน

    As a Phillies fan very much enjoying this, you guys are over analyzing this. The problem isn’t leadership or any intangible. The problem is your players aren’t any good lol and your ballpark is just so unfriendly to hitters. Lindor was nearly a 40 home run 900 ops player in Cleveland. Move the damn fences in and change the batters eye, get better players

    • @Where2bub
      @Where2bub หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have something close to a valid point with the stadium being unfriendly to hitters, and with leadership not being important. However, you disprove your point in bringing up how good Lindor was in Cleveland. These players are good, their mentality is off and the bad ballpark is getting in their head. Their coaching is bad, and their work ethic while having the best intentions, are just not good enough. Their training and stretch routines I think aren’t healthy either. They get injured more than any other team, which might also be connected to their work ethic. The stadium doesn’t need to cheat by bringing the fences in, cohen already made right field shorter. It’s the ball park’s position facing the flushing bay. Yankee stadium faces away from the water and the walls inclose it more, much like the one in Philly as well, blocking the wind. It’s the hitting coaches, and the work ethic, and training.

    The main reason I wanted Correa on this team is his leadership. Remeber when he stood up for Altuve? Thats what this clubhouse needs at this point. No one has shown that level of leadership, not even close.

    I remember Bryce Harper threw his batting helmet into the crowd. Nothing happened. That's the difference between a superstar on a winning team and a marginal reliever. Lopez said he's the worst teammate in the f-**king MLB, not team. He was probably embarrassed and frustrated over what he did.

    Lindor has the worst AVE with RISP on the team.
    Lindor has a .249 AVE after 3 1/2 years as a Met.
    Lindor's WAR is 0.9 this season.
    Lindor has NOT made an All Star team as a Met.
    So he is an overpaid defensive shortstop. Bat him 6th or 7th. Stop coddling him like he is some superstar. HE IS NOT! Sit him a few times a month. Tell him he will get moved up if he performs.

    I may be in the minority here, but perhaps Mets brass could have offered Lopez a mental health option. His behavior was an aberration, and now knowing that his daughter needs a transplant donor, the argument in favor of a mental health option seems more appropriate.
