In hindsight, I’m actually not a fan of the Brewers/Mets trade I came up with. Hard to see the Brewers giving up Wilken in a deal for rentals. Instead, I’d say probably just do a deal revolving around Severino which would probably take a couple of guys in the 10-20 range, and send JD elsewhere.
I was just about to write a whole post saying No, but you saved me the effort lol. Wilken is the guy they are waiting on, which is why no one on the roster is really a long term ft for the brewers at 1B or 3B. They want his bat, its a matter of working out where he ends up playing.
JD does make some sense, but there is also Gary Sanchez getting DH at bats, Mitchell could be back soon-ish, so the OF gets crowded.
Luis Severino for Blalock is a good a starting point, you just have to find something else to pair with him back to the Mets. Maybe Eric Brown Jr who is a bit buried with the middle IF depth. There is a case to be made that Joey Weimer could move, but thats a whole different conversation on what his value actually is
And people think Juan Soto would go to the Mets 😂
At that point he has a better chance with the Nats again.

The Mets just don’t have an identity. That’s the problem. No big time free agents or stars want to come to the team despite a rich owner who’s willing and able to spend money in the biggest market in the league and the stars they have now don’t seem like they want to play for the team either.

You know it sucks that the Mets are bad. However, it is what it is. They just have to keep going. I’m sure we’ll figure it out. I’m a giants fan not a Jets fan and so now I kind of get the whole Giants versus Jets. Can’t do anything right mentality but when you put that energy out there, what do you expect is gonna happen?

Lindor calling for a team meeting while batting around .200 might seem hypocritical, much like Yankees fans defending Mendoza despite his lack of Major League playing experience. It's unreasonable for Lindor to accept guidance from a manager who's akin to a swimming coach who has never been in the water. Fire Mendoza right now

I would think if the Brewers traded for a DH and forced them to play Yelich daily in Left to get Jackson Chourio hitting numbers more in line with his contract values a trip to Nashville would be in-line. Hahaha, no way would the Brewers trade Brock Wilken, they finally have a power hitting 3rd baseman. Plus I can't picture them wanting to trade away any of the 2023 draft. The Brewers put together a masterpiece of a draft last year.

i really dont understand the lindor hate, yeah he’s struggling rn but its baseball, theres gonna be highs and lows over 162 games. Plus management and ownership literally said last year when they traded verlander and scherzer that dont plan to be competitive this year. keep in mind that ronny tearing his acl in winter ball really hurt them cause they planned on him possibly moving to 3rd or the outfield while mcneil is still here.
Keep Senga and Alvarez. Alonso can stay as DH only. Everything else must go.

Absolutely no way the Mets get two top 5 prospects from any team’s. Maybe 1 depending on the team, but 2 for a guy who’s not a good defender at an already low value position, and his numbers are a bit down from his usual averages.

Thanks Stephen! I do think they hang onto those guys. I could maybe see McNeil or perhaps Marte, but those are underwater contracts with multiple years left, so it might be tough to move them. Lindor I would think is impossible to move during the season if they even wanted to go that route. I think he stays.
