    Great story brother! I’m the proud third generation owner of a Mossberg Model 640 T .22WMR. My Pop-pop got it brand new and when he passed it went to my dad and thankfully I still got my pops but he’s pretty much designated it mine. I now have a young daughter who’s ten and will be learning on that gun very soon. It’s a real feeling of true pride with hand me down firearms. In fact all of my long guns have been handed down, rifles and smooth bores. I did buy myself one twelve gauge that was chambered in 3-1/2 inch to use for goose hunting. Let me tell ya gimmick!! Used it one season and by the next I was back to my old Ithaca mod.38 shooting high brass 2-3/4 shells. If you are a good shot that’s plenty of power and shot to cleanly bring down honkers. Hahaha anyway got a little side track. Thank you for sharing your similar story of your Mossberg .22wmr. It’s nice to hear of kindred spirits out there in the world. Cheers from the hollar in Pennsylvania!

    I just saw your video and just got mine got it out of storage about 2 weeks ago. I brought it when I was in my 20's. It was my first gun. I am now 73 and my son got me back into shooting. I did have a Mossberg 20 ga pump that I really enjoyed and sold it. I would love to go another. Thank you for reminding of it value to me and someday I hope to show my granddaughter how to shoot.

    My old man had one in the early 60’s. It was a legend in our family. He shot hundred’s of fox, crows and jack rabbits with it. I wish he had kept it.

    This along with the Marlin 783 are my two favorite survival guns.With proper shot placement and good optics it is a one shot kill rifle for small game and deer, You can easily carry 100 rounds of ammo without being bulky. Enjoy !!!

    My 640k was my first rifle. My dad bought it from a friend of his who ran a pawn shop when I was 12. I do wish it had better iron sights…

    I got mine off my brother. My dad bought it for him for his 16 birthday back in 1971. Both he and my dad shot ground hogs with it. Crazy accurate rifle. I want to put a new scope on it now.

      Wicked man! Love that these old rifles still hang up with the new tech with respect to accuracy, speaks true to their quality.

    I inherited one of these from my dad and it shoots the best with the regular Winchester hollow points

    I have the same rifle. It was gifted to me by my father. Great rifle. I have a question for you. Where is the serial number on these? I can’t find it

    I have the same exact gun and it’s a tack driver.. with a scope you can easily hit at 200 yards

    I just bought one that I am waiting to arrive. No sentimental stories behind it, but it probably came from somebodys grandpa.

    Father gave me one of these when I turned 18. Too bad it can't hit nothing at 20 yards. I don't know if its the 30 grain v-max's or the barrel is shot out. I recrowned the barrel and thought about glass bedding it but tbh its not worth the money. It will always have a place in my heart due to it being my father's gun.

    • @Liam_Boschman
      @Liam_Boschman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are the odds that it was the same gun? That’s really cool!
      I’m sure you’ve tried everything in the book for accuracy but I’ve heard that if you really tighten down the front screw connecting the receiver to the stock it gets more accurate, but that’s just a suggestion

    • @bobjackson3442
      @bobjackson3442 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Liam_Boschman See I've read the complete opposite. I read that you don't want to over tighten the screw, some people even saying to put a business card at the end of the barrel before tightening the screw and also you want to buy every type of ammo possible to see what your gun likes. However with 22 mag being like 0.50 cents a round I think ill pass. Its crazy that I can shoot .223 cheaper than .22 mag.

      Hm interesting…ya ammo for these little guys is really expensive, it’s tough to justify it

      Be sure the barrel is free floated (bedding the action is a plus). Also check the barrel for copper fouling.

      @@Liam_Boschman Dunno thinking bring it back to the good ole Guns vs Sports and maybe shoot some golf balls and maybe some old wooden clubs and metal clubs whatever you can find at thrift stores. Maybe some golf ball skeet shooting who knows.
