Busting 1300fps with a 125gr is real close to the watered down 357 Sig loads some companies are hawking. Great performance in the gel as well. It's 9mm ammo like this that could cause this girl's caliber to become popular in the US. Thanks for the great testing as usual!

It’s promising but if this stuff was meant to run consistent 1300 I’m sure the manufacturer would run with that # on the box. Since they include the gun data use in testing along with fps I’d bet the1250 is what it typically runs. This was likely a batch that run on a day where humidity and atmospherics were ideal. I’d squirrel this batch away for my next edc ammo rotation.
Which 9mm 124 gr do you recommend for the short barrel? I've seen a lot of good results like this one on your channel but I can't remember them all.
My 357 sig averages 1512, 1300 lol and yes it’s a 125 grain, the 147 grain 357 sig do 1400

I carry Defiant in my Ruger LCP Max and CZ PCR. It is the best JHP on the market. While expensive my life is worth the extra cost.
I personally believe that 124 grain spicy 9mm is the best for self defense. This may be up for consideration. I like those numbers. 💪

A lot better choice than some of the 40S&W or 10mm out there that doesnt hold up to hype. That initial energy dump & mushroom will get the job done. Defiant is at the top of the game for backing up the stats. Good stuff. 🙏🇺🇸👍

The FPS of most 9mm is why I went with that round. 1200+ FPS is what's needed in a self defense round. A lot of other calibers such as .380, .38 Special, and .22LR barely get over 1000+ FPS out of a pistol. I do like .22LR Stingers and .22 Magnum, but I skip the .380 and .38 Special because of the price of the round and the low FPS. This round you tested is something I would carry for self defense.

Funny you say this because I’m moving to a snub nose 357 MAGNUM! 😀 people say 357 isn’t good in a snubby but that a load of crap for sure

What a beautiful test this exactly what I look for 1st velocity is key and this shows ammo manufacturers could all do the same many people say who cares about velocity as long as they expand the reason I require 1200+fps is distance @50 to 100yds these will still perform other standard ammo will be only 800fps at distance why carry ammo that only works at close distance I would definitely seek this ammo out

Excellent tests! Those are obviously Sierra 125gr Sport Msster bullets. Back in my PPC days I used those and the 115gr in my S&W PPC-9. Won or placed in the NPSC several times in the various semi-auto matches. I ceased using them when Sierra sold out to present owners who doubled the prices. I’ll definitely get a couple of boxes of the Defiant ammo.

I had to check and see what it was I had from Defiant. Mine are the 125 gr +P TCX-SDH (whatever that is). The box says 1225 fps with 416 fpe. The case looks the same (JAG Headstamp). The bullet is different as these do not have any exposed lead and almost look machined.
Yeah, you have the copper expanders. I have some of those too.
Yes they are the copper TCX. The SDH stands for Super Dave Harrington. SDH is a retired SF friend of mine that had a lot of input on this load. He is also a famous firearms instructor now.

most of the time my self defense pistol/revolver ammunition i reload till slight flattening primers the back off test for expansion, then accuracy adjusting powders as need. papa 😊

I have been using the Defiant Munitions 9mm 125 gr +P TCX-SDH. They are very accurate, I got a 5 round average of 1160 out of a PDP.
Everything they make seems to be great stuff.
Ordering next. These are going in every 9 I have. I can imagine these will break the 500 fpe threshold from the 5.75" Canik Mete Pro. 👍

I've literally seen HSTs for less than half what this goes for, while offering slightly better performance. That said if Defiant can get their prices down with more production and more inventory for bulk shipping then I can definitely see this taking off.

I like this Defiant for the consistent quality.
I go with the cheap Winchester white/black box 115 because it's actually more consistent than most tests I have seen of the boutique rounds that have 100fps or more velocity spread. They actually penetrate a little deeper than these probably because they only expand 90% as big and I'm okay with that. If I'm going to switch I will probably look for Federal HST. When I'm over seas, I really only have one choice and that's Sig V Crown because it's that or Hornady Zombie Max which I refuse to buy.

About accuracy testing. Since we watch you struggle not to place rounds in the same spot pretty often, that should be all anyone really needs for a real world accuracy test. As far as extreme spread, when I make black powder, if the extreme spread is more than 50fps I put it back in the tumbler for 24 hrs. for smokeless that's more than I care to see by a good bit

At $1.40/rd I’ll take HST or Gold Dot all day long. For 357 Sig ballistics just buy the actual 357 Gold Dot load for 60-80 cents/rd.
I will pay a little more carry ammo because I don't plan to shoot them a lot, and performance, reliability and consistency are more important in self-defense situations.

TNT...have you heard of American Ordnance 10MM Auto 180g Flat Point FMJ? They are out of Memphis Tenn. This ammo is supposed to clock around 1330FPS.

Always enjoy your teaching sessions. When you do calibers like 9, 45 .357 can you do a carbine test at the same time ?
Not likely at the same time but I do have a ton of carbine tests I need to do. It's all about time management with the amount of videos I put out. If I went to any less per week because of taking longer to do a video, the channel would fall so far out of the algorithm that it would take a month to get back on track.

Another great video from Tools! Best jelly tester in the biz! I’m a bit perplexed on the G17 ES. We seen 10 shot averages of 19 in our G17 with that lot. Different pistol and different conditions can change things sometimes. The next lot I load I will be sure to do some extended testing to be sure.

I would run this stuff, except the only thing I have ever seen locally was their FMJ range ammo.
Interestingly, at 20 beans a box, it has been the lowest priced 380 FMJ I have found, go figure.🤷♂
