Moorcroft overcame his partial disappointment in the 1982 European Athletics Championships (the bronze medal) to take the Commonwealth title. Thank you very much for the upload, Merry Christmas+Happy+Blessed New Year 2025!
David Moorcroft a fine gentlemen finishes off a great year. A tragedy he missed the World Championships in 1983 as that could have been the highlight of his career. Great to see Nick Rose get some reward too. Peter Koech moved on to the Steeplechase and won the silver in Seoul '88 which shows how versatile the Kenyans are. I don't think the Brits could have done that.
It's funny isn't it but when Ovett won in Edinburgh four years later his detractors called his 13-24 'a slow time'. Usually no one bats an eye lid with times in championship races.
What a runner dave moorecroft was. 23.00 dead for the 5000 new world record and he could have broken 13 that day but was out on his own.did not get the credit he deserved
No problem Mike, it was an amazing run. He was a top 1500m man as well but at the wrong time. Graham Williamson was another who was unfortunate to be at his peak at the same time.

David Moorcroft were one of amazing long-distance runners on his best days. Even now his performance on the 80's brings the good feeling👍💪
Commentator keeps referring to Paul Forbes who is Nat Muir
1982 was Moorcroft's golden year.

That title was so important to round of a good 1982
great silver for nick rose too.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm 1981 national cross country moorcroft missed the start,,, out of over 2000 runners Dave finished 4th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Moorcroft had this year in 1984, he would be Olympic champ in the 5,000. IN 82 he was invincible!
That Fiji guy in last place must have been lapped about three times.
I know how that feels. I was lapped 3 times in a club level 5K.

Impossible. Seb Coe couldn't do that when he broke the 800m world record
Should have read 13.00 dead for the
5000

Commentary a little .. elementary.
Smyth , you old curmudgeon. If you only have one Olympic 1500m gold medalist on the commentary team, then all credibility is lost !
"Andrews making a bid now!" And then moments later...starts going backwards!!!
