I think when they toured America coming from England after The Beatles the expectations for them were high.But they didnt meet with those expectations.Bit hard after The Beatles did.
But slade is the first band in make a lot elements who revolutionated the rock generes
Damn , Noddy's voice rocks and it's amazing that this was over 50 years ago now! Slade truly inspired more bands than they get credit for. Way ahead of their time.

I was 13. First concert. Slade .1973.Capitol theatre Passaic New Jersey.Blue Oyster Cult opened.Saw Slade 3 more tines there .Also saw them with ZZ TOP. SLADE IS AND WAS SO UNDERRATED. LYRICS AND MUSICIANSHIP.!!

There are covers that are done better but Quiet Riot cover was garbage,they messed around with the words aswell.

Problem is, While their dress may have worked in the UK with the glam era there, It didn't work in the USA because Slade are dressed as some bubble gum pop band you would find on Saturday Morning Kiddie Cartoon shows. How could their Manager, Chas Chandler, who toured the USA with the Animals, be so ignorant of this fact, definitely hurting the band being taken seriously because of their dress

You can see Noddy trying to rev up the crowd in this. Feels like he was gettting frustrated by the lack of reaction, which was reflected on the charts in the US. Oh well, they got the Quiet Riot royalties 10 years later.
