This pattern is perfect for LARGE SCALE fabrics, that you don't want to cut up too small as you would lose the print! I have some Lei fabrics from Hawaii, that would be perfect to use with this pattern! thanks so much!

I haven't done much with hexagons because I always worried how to piece them together; not anymore, thanks Laura. You have such a clear and concise way of explaining cutting instructions, sewing instructions, etc. When you post a video I do a little happy dance.

Okay, this one's a winner for me! I love the fact that you cut the lighter/contrast fabric bigger than the template so it makes it easier to square up the blocks before joining them. AND I love that you don't have to match seams between the rows. It is a great hexagon pattern for showing off the fabric one's very best prints and colors because the hexagon isn't joined in the middle like many patterns call for. Additionally, I don't have to go crazy lining them up with opposing halves. And as always, you show us the hints like giving us the measurements from the flat to flat edges (6 and 1/2 inches) and from point to point (7 and 1/2 inches) and how to easily cut the corner pieces of the contrast fabric; etc. Nice!
I got a kick how at the beginning when you showed the folded fabrics - running your hand across them and visually "caressing" them - ha! Yes, it made me want to touch them too; I'll bet we're not the only ones who admire our quality quilting fabric in this way. Many years ago I worked at a fabric shop part-time while going to college part-time. For a number of years after that (into the 1970's) when talking to people, I'd sometimes touch their arm to make a point (I'm pretty demonstrative) and then I'd be distracted trying to guess what the fabric content of their clothing was. I'd forget where I was in the conversation .. and then have to ask them, "Where was I?" It was only when I came across other people who sewed that I'd confess my secret thoughts. :-) Is this abnormal behavior? Probably. ;-) But I and the other gals in the store would "challenge" each other when new bolts came in and the customer flow was sluggish and really enjoyed the game.

why not just 'snowball' the corners rather then cutting & sewing back on ?....Good question:) I thought the same thing however because of the shape needing 6 equal sides a
square or a rectangle corner like a snow ball will not work. It doesn't
flip over correctly. I tried:) Thanks for asking and thanks for watching

I found your channel recently, watched all your earlier videos and liked I Spy quilt (video on labels). Thanks to today's video, I can make I Spy quilt for children very easy.
I would like to thank you for your great ideas throughout all videos I have seen. Always organized and nicely prepared. I can easily understand every step of making new blocks etc. (I have already used some ideas - for example sewing the batting scraps by machine with a zig-zag stitch and made two quilts with otherwise "leftover batting",).
When you post new video, the first thing is to watch it along with my morning coffee :-)

Hi, I've recently started watching your videos. I wondered if you have any advice or know where I can find a chart to easily work out the dimensions needed to do the corner triangles for different sizes of hexagons? I keep trying it with bits of paper, and not getting what I need. I'm currently trying with a 4" hexagon, but I could easily need other sizes in the future. The last maths class I went to was probably in 1979! Thank you 🙂

I too love the pattern on the quilt behind Laura. I have made a couple of small pieces with this pattern. It is so quick and easy to put together. I planned the colours and patterns before I sewed but I want to try the next one with just a box of random pieces and see how it comes out. Good luck if you do try it. Julia
