    I agree with you 💯%!! I was very fortunate enough to have acquired a brand new Gillette Heated razor for $66 total price. It definitely is not worth a $200 price tag. The cheap price I got was actually too much as well. If they sold this thing for say $49.99, that would be a fair price. I found that the heating bar doesn't stay on your face amongst the curves of your jawline. If for somehow they would make the heating bar flexible to the curvature of your face, that would be a great improvement. The replacement blades are even more expensive than their standard Proglide, Proglide shield blades. I am glad I have one in hopes it will be a collector's piece one day. For everyday shaving, I couldn't recommend this product. It is more of a luxury item too expensive to drive on a daily basis. Thanks for the video!

    Back in the day you had very little choice of Razors If you wanted a wet shave you had the handles that took a razor blade , a Bic and 1 or 2 other disposable . Now the The shops are swamped with loads of different cartridge razers, You go into the shop to buy a packet of Mach 3 cartridges and either they are sold out or you have to part with a lots of cash to buy a bumper pack. So you buy another brand instead thats on offer that has 1 handle and 1 blade.
    (I'm sure we’ve all done it )
    Then fast forward a year and you have an old mug in your bathroom filled with different razor handles you dont want to throw them away just in case....
    A leaf shave does sound a good alternative but at £79 is a lot of money for an initial outlay.
    I'm sure if they was sold in large numbers and stocked by Boots, Tesco's, Morisons etc the price would come down.
    For those on a budget and want a good cartridge razer I cant recommend the Cien razor from Lidls enough .

    How does the twig compare in efficiency/speed with the leaf? I’d have thought the leaf would be faster with its pivoting head.

    • @dflosounds
      @dflosounds 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was going to ask the same question. Since he owns and uses both of them (sounds like he mostly uses the twig) I'd be curious to know the reasons he might choose to use one over the other on a given day. Is it just for variety, or is one better than the other under certain conditions?

    • @Baldcafe
      @Baldcafe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I’d say the twig takes a little longer but it feels like more of a precision tool if that makes sense. I love them both but recently the twig has been the one I reach for. I’ll do a full update soon hopefully once I get some solid opinions 👍

Just got the Defender after watching your video about that, and I like it, but am wondering if you think it still holds up as a good starter razor for noobs at razor shaving your head. The Twig/Leaf just seem so expensive up-front, I'm not sure it's worth it at this point. Would love your comparison of the Defender and the Twig/Leaf.

      Try the classic DE Safety Razor. Buy the cheapest one and even if it doesn't fit you you know it doesn't cost that much. I have been using DE Safety Razors for my face for a year now, I have 3 already. Pro tip buy a nice cooling soap/cream like Proraso green. Cold shaving is amazing :D

    • @Baldcafe
      @Baldcafe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @FeEL1OO
      @FeEL1OO 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the number of blades on a shaver doesn’t make for a better head shave? I’m under the impression that more blades = absolute smoothness with less effort since two or more blades go through the same area in a motion..

    • @michadomeracki5910
      @michadomeracki5910 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FeEL1OO Cartridge shavers say that more blades means more efficient removal of hair but that is very small difference and you can shave with one blade even faster and be very smooth. One blade does less irritation and is more accurate.

    • @patrickpettyjr.3134
      @patrickpettyjr.3134 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      DE razors are overrated and take far too much time. Cartridge razors provide fast, clean, smooth shaves with pivoting heads, which allows the razor to cut the hair located at those pesky spots easier to shave. Not to mention, you also have more blades to work with.

    • @moh2502
      @moh2502 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrickpettyjr.3134 cartridge razors are terrible, not as sharp or smooth to begin with it & once the first blade goes blunt, must throw away & start again. With DE blades you can use a new blade for every shave & save money than a cartridge razor.

    • @patrickpettyjr.3134
      @patrickpettyjr.3134 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moh2502 Absolute nonsense. Cartridge razor refills provide months of shaves actually, it even says so on the packaging. A lot of people don't know this but the secret to prolonging your blades' life is actually drying it off when your done shaving.
      What causes razor blades to dull is not hair, but water. Water will eventually dull the blade if left on it, simply blow on it and dab it with a microfibre towel. Your cartridge refills will last a very long time and provide smooth, comfortable shaves.

    • @moh2502
      @moh2502 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@patrickpettyjr.3134 I beg to differ, I can only get 4 head & face shaves with 1 fusion cartridge blade & for the equivalent cost, I can get 20 Astra DE blades which equates to 20 shaves.
      With a cartridge razor, hair easily gets clogged between the blades, something which rarely happens on a DE razor.

    • @patrickpettyjr.3134
      @patrickpettyjr.3134 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@moh2502 Four shaves!? What!? What are you, a girl? Cartridge razors, again, are more technological and advanced. Multiple blades cuts the hair faster with fewer passes, the pivoting head makes it easier for the blades to get those hard to reach areas, they're easy to use and more convienant etc. Safety razors (and straight razors) are overrated tools.
