Ten Hag took off two teenagers, in an injury riddled season, in a game in which we were leading 3-0. What is the point of keeping them on when we have a 3 goal lead.If they had not been taken off we would be blaming Ten Hag for not managing the young players properly. At some point it isn't about the manager. It's the players on the pitch that have to be held responsible. Rashford was miserable last night, he has been throughout the season. We need to sell him. There is a massive change going on in the club. If Ten Hag leaves, all the players get a second chance and we don't clear out. Last night, if anything was a clear indication of the players lack of confidence and ability to see out a game.

People forget that United had their lowest points tally (58) in their premier league history before Ten Hag took over. Since then, he's won a trophy and taken us to 3 cup finals with the highest win rate of any United manager in history. This season we have the worst injury crisis in our modern history and we're still in an FA cup final. Anyone who's ever achieved anything of value understands that progress is non-linear. The reason Ten Hag has switched to this style of overly exposed football is too see who can play the game he wants and who can’t and this season I’m sure we’ve all noticed who can’t. I believe sir Jim and ETH have placed the clubs future seasons far above the current one and ready to tear down this team to make way for the new one. In an era where instant gratification reigns supreme, his story underscores the value of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity. Ferguson's success was not achieved overnight; it was the culmination of years of dedication, hard work, and unwavering belief in his vision. Before calling for EtH's sacking, it's important to remember that these players got Ole sacked when Ole tried to change the style to a high pressing system and he admitted the players couldn't do it and stopping running.
So what did the board do after Ole was sacked? They appointed another manager that likes to play a high pressing system (even more so than Ole).
The problem was that the incompetent board failed in getting in the players to fit that system and relying mostly on the players that got Ole sacked was only going to go one way for EtH (especially with so many injuries).
With a proper DoF and getting in the players that can play a high pressing system (and players that have the right mentality and physical attributes), we'll see a big improvement. Until then nothing is going to change, it will contine to be a manager merry-go-round.

Mainoo was tired and again rashford instead of garnacho off for antony probably the only decision that was incorrect yesterday.

      You're 3 up against the Nr8 Championship.
That game is done so you take off a player you can't miss to spare some energy.
You keep Rashford on in the hope he picks up a goal to gain some confidence for the final stage of the season.
You rest the players you need when the job is done.
With 3 up and 30min left the game should be done.
He's als just like Mainoo very young with also playing and starting every game.
If you play high intensity style that's really hard for a body that age to deal with.

Good work with this. It's a really tough call, but there comes a point where someone has to ask how many managers should be thrown under a bus by the players in this squad? SJR has already highlighted the environment.
IMO, he should be given chance to see out his contract.
Not one manager currently in Europe's top 5 leagues would've done any better with this squad and the injuries.
And as David Ornstein already said, if EtH wasn't already the incumbent and happened to be on the market this summer, United would be looking to get him in.
Give him a structure, see how goes.

The players aren't throwing the manager under the bus. There's no lack of effort. What he's asking them to do isn't working, it didn't work in the first game of the season, and it still isn't working 9 months later.
IF ETH stays then we will have to give him a new contract, otherwise he will have no authority, and all this "will he stay or will he go" noise will continue right through next season.
That's the problem for Ineos, they can't go with a suck it and see approach, they can't just say lets give him a bit more time. They will have to fully back him with a new contract and spend hundreds of millions of pounds on new players for him. Would you do that? We need to rebuild the whole structure of scouts/coaching staff/academy rather than just switch the manager. Under SAF, player power never won eg Beckham, van nistelrooy, Roy Keane, Stam etc were all key players but were all let go after falling out with SAF. I am also conflicted on ETH. Last season we played good football and he made good substitutes that regularly impacted the game positively, and it took us to 2 finals. This season he's changed the way we play and this tactic as well as our injuries have massively affected our game, however when Martinez and Shaw came back in January we performed really well there is a chance that our issues could very well be personnel, but the fact that we don't have key players and ETH is sticking to this system has costed us the season. On a positive note he's integrated high potential youth players in our team who could very well become mainstays in our team for the next decade and when we have our best players, we usually get results and play good football. And for that reason I think he deserves time to work under this new structure. The most important thing under any manager would be to clear out the players who are clearly past it or not good enough, and replace them with quality, hungry players and no doubt ETH will be successful.

I think he'll get one more season, but it will be curtains for him if he makes a mess of the summer window and the team starts off disastrously again. As an overall man manager I think he's as good as anyone else, and it's some of the players who need to go, and not just because their careers are over like Casemiro and Erikson.

Hey Sam, thanks for the video.
I’m at a loss but I’ll try and be objective as to how to rate this.
We are rebuilding our club from almost scratch and they won’t be in place till the summer or later. So - if the structure is preventative to success - that won’t change no matter the manager.
Also, repeating the same cycle has never worked. Plus there are no good candidates out there and INEOS might shoot them selves in the foot bringing in a failing manager.
But, the season has been a shambles.
There are mitigating factors - injuries, off field stuff etc
But. Surely ANY professional player worth its salt should be able to hold a 3-0 lead for 19 mins.
We can’t expect a full squad every week to play well. So a lot of these players aren’t good enough or fit enough or hungry enough or brave enough - or all of the above.
If ETH stays (or if he doesn’t) we’d need a real spine of players who are mental beasts. And to fix the injury issues to allow consistency.
But without that he’ll be gone by December.

Whilst you can’t blame Ten Hag for the signings themselves it does leave a big question mark over his talent identification. A manager who thinks Antony is a fundamental signing on the wing or after a season thinks Mason Mount is a CM is not a manager who has come to terms with the league they’re in. Even buying Hojlund then not playing to his strengths often resulting in games where he doesn’t get so much as a shot is a bad sign.
He’s not the first manager to fail at a big club.

How many managers do we have to go through before we realize theres sometning bigger going on? It can't be the managers fault each and every time. The managers weve had before haven't been the greatest but they've been thrown to the wolves just as ten hag is currently.
Hes had a multitide of players who have created unnecessary drama for him, a painstaking amount of injuries and players who are incapable of seeing out gsmes and making simple decisions and being able to keep a hold of the ball.
Its time we let a manager see out their third season, and see out their vision. And to that effect its also the last season on his contract so if its really bad we can let him go, but when ffp is also as important as it is right now, we probably can't even afford to pay him out should the club decide to sack him.

The interesting thing is that this Yes and No list would look the exact same for Ole before he got fired, with almost the exact same items on the list apart from the change in structure.
But I think, apart from this list, the _real_ decision will depend on how the new regime wants to proceed, what style of football they want to play, and what kind of manager they want at the club.
Like will they want a manager who can "manage" and improve players?
Or will they want a manager who can create his own tactics, and adapt them in-game?
Or who will play a rigid style dictated by those above him?
I don't think the club were even capable of making a decision like this in the last 10 years because they were so clueless they didn't even know what they wanted a new manager to do, except maybe "go out there, do everything, and win."
But one thing I will say: it's kind of embarrassing seeing a club like Coventry being capable of making a tactical change to take control of the game, and United not being able to counter it and get control back.

  • @MarkG7
    @MarkG7 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

In my mind, it's a 3 step process.
    1. Get the structure in place, with Ashworth (or whoever is Director of football) the key.
    2. The DoF needs time to assess the club and decide on a style of play (and as a side note, the time that takes means we should just pay the Ashworth compensation, because whatever it is will be cheap compared to the money we'll waste in recruitment until someone sorts that part of the structure)
    3. The DoF decides if ten Hag is a fit for that playing style, and either keeps him or finds the replacement.
If you sack ten Hag before that list is done, who's picking the new manager? Not the person deciding how we play,so you waste another 2-3 years. So he stays until the DoF can assess it all, to inform the choice.

I'm extremely torn with this. On one hand I think Ten Hag should be given at least another year under a proper footballing structure then take it from there & also it'll send a message to these players that they aren't gonna keep throwing manager after manager under the bus like they've done to previous ones. Also the way Ten Hag has brought youngsters like Garnacho & Mainoo through that's what we need to continue to do moving forward. I'm desperate for Ten Hag to succeed at United but I do admit the results & performances aren't there & that'll play a massive role in INEOS decision to keep Ten Hag or replace him. Rather reluctantly & with a heavy heart I've got a gut feeling he'll leave quite possibly by mutual agreement. Trouble is the grass isn't always greener & there aren't any standout options out there. The main problem is the players not the manager imo

It truly breaks my heart to say this, as I really thought we were onto something just one year ago from now. But I feel it really depends on Ten Hag's mentality at this point. To be honest, it looks like he is cornered (ofc he would be) and just losing his main strength in the debate across managers post fergie: he was the only manager that had proper control of the game and tactics. We say Ole ball was good looking back in his winning streaks away ( doubles agains city) etc. but to be honest, that team although performing better than the current united team I just could not picture ever pulling a title race properly. last year I could seriously see us in a few years to do that. I do agree with sam that the chaos is a purposeful choice but I don't think he thinks this is a long term plan. I think in training he sees that a lot of these players just do not have the legs or the will power to perform the way he demands them to play high-press football. Sure, some of them do (Bruno, Hoijlund, Mainoo have been my faves from this aspect) but most of the lot don't. And he just looks lost. So, I think we should stick with him if he wants to stick to this club and give it all he's got. But if not, we should part ways for both him and us.

Erik ten Hag is that man to take us not entirely to that vision but lead us there. Erik ten Hag does not have all the players to play the way he wants. He is meeting the requirements make no mistake( with some injuries this season top 4 is gone anyway) but as a football fan I am enjoying how he is doing it? well it gives me pain to see this team shipping goals like crazy. I think its the same thing with previous managers as well. Jose was pragmatic in terms of getting results, Ole has got results initially with counter attacking football didnt last long then he only had manutd history to talk about and now ETH trying to be brave and getting lucky every time. Not sure if he is given time with not many players being released would change anything next season. And when his 1 goal a game wasn't enough super sub Garnacho was there to energise things. I said it very clearly, we're in trouble if Rashford's form dips and we can't rely on 1 man every game. If Ten Hag can't fix that 2 seasons in, he's not the right man. We're lucky to have McTominay deep runs from midfield helping us score goals but that creates defensive imbalance which is why you see unwanted stats like we've faced many shots this season. A mixture of players with very different backgrounds, specialties, mentalities and maturity levels. 3. Lack of footballing identity, maybe due to manager's mismatched capabilities. All these problems require lots of time, more than two seasons, even with the likes of Brailsford, Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox onboard, to solve. Given the massiveness and importance of dealing with problem 1 and 2, I say let's keep ETH at least until the end of his current contract, and prioritize resources onto fixing the club structure and finding the players who are capable of fighting for the badge. I know that Man utd have had a lot of injured players through out the season, but my question is " isn't it the Manager's job to come out with a suitable formation for the team?". Man Utd had injured players who were most likely the first line-up players at the beginning of the season. As a result, Man utd played bad. That's not the manager's fault. The manager had no control about it. However, the manager must know or must be aware that he would or might not get back players that are in the first line-up as the PL campaign approaches to mid-season or end of season. As a Man Utd fan, I would like the manager to create a formation that suits for the players that are available. Instead, Man utd fans have been witnessing the chaos football. Like you mention in the video, the chaos football play style is not working for Man utd.

Up to and winning the Caraboa Cup last year United were flying, gunning for an outside shot at the Premiership title, Rashford flying in all departments and then came the 7-0 thumping by you know who. Its been downhill since despite being in another cup final. Youre right about fragile mentality.

Please INEOS should give him next season at least. He is a top manager and will definitely do well in the right environment, which means a structure over him and getting rid of most of these players. First to go from the playing squad, RASHFORD!! If he stays, he shouldn't be a starter from next season. Trashford..

5 more Go´s you seem to forget: Choosing the same bad players; cannot solve the vital midfield problem; bad player-management e.g. Ronaldo & Sancho; talking rubish in press´ers; really bad - and weird - substitutions all seasons.

Give him chance.. let him work with proper structure. We all know what he can do with this team.. Injury is the main reason.. but he has to make some important decisions too for next season.. some players are not performing he has to get rid of those players...

We have to give him at least another season. With youth coming in, so many injuries, we're still making some progress. 60+ injuries would fail any team.

    For me Eth should stay
    1. Injuries I think has impacted largely on the playing style which we saw last season hence he had to shift to this style
    2. Some of the players generally who are still in the club from a tactical approach are not what Eth needs that's clear. To add on the mentality of these players is so weak
    3. Can some explain why when licha and shaw are back on the team suddenly united look stronger ? For me the lack of leaders players to rely on is Eth's worst setback who can constantly deliver and have experience

I would give him another chance for one more season to see how he manages under, hopefully, a better incoming set up. After that well, we'll see!

I'm definitely for STAY, at least for one more season. Hurry never brought us absolutely anything. "We've been here before", it's the same thing.
We shan't forget that he achieved to recover Maguire from his abysmal phase. He was also the only one that brought in a proper centerforward to the team. Under his management, even McTominay discovered a goalscoring proficiency that wasn't there before in the McFred era. Casemiro was ALSO a very good signing, a good player to make the transition between "we need the team to function NOW until I can find someone to replace him long term". His last season confirmed that. Nobody could expect that his next season would be so subpar in comparison.
What he needs is to find out what's the problem that is causing the injuries and bring in a world class defensive mdifielder and two central defenders for the back. He also needs to get rid of Casemiro, Eriksen, Martial, Evans, Lindelöf, Van de Beek and bring in a world class left winger (Kvara...?), so he could bench Rashford without reducing our firepower. That'd make the team work better.

Tricky. Didn't Ten Hag want to get rid of Maguire, Maguire refused to go and forced his way back into the team partly through injuries to others and partly through good play. It now looks like a mistake to have let Fred go! I think Ten Hag overachieved last season but this season has been a real disappointment.

Mainly the media is shouting he must go and influence the supporters. You can not blame it on training. These players are proffesional players who signed huge contracts and must do their job. Injuries are causing a serious problem for any coach in any sport. He should at least get another season as getting systems in place is not obtained by pushing buttons. Players should get good performance bonuses in stead off big contracts.

As far as I'm concerned, a manager of a team like ours SHOULD be allowed to take off their best players when they're 3-0 up against a championship team. If they can't, it's not on the manager imo but it should be on the players that are allowing a comfortable lead like that to slip to 3-3 that should be taking the blame, not the manager. We had 20 minutes to go, any manager who is wary of keeping the squad fit for upcoming games should do it. Pep would do it, Klopp would do it and people seem to think of them as the best, so why wouldn't ten Hag?

I don’t think not qualifying for champions league is that big of a deal.
If we get the Europa League spot, but starting playing better next season, I would be very happy, because then, in 2026, we would be prepared to the champions league and not bottle in the group stage.
Also if we in the FA cup, would be huge, because it’s a Derby against City and an FA cup.
I think Ten hag should be managing for One more season, but is becoming more hard to defend him, hopefully this FA cup come or we finish at least in 5º to get Europa League spot, because even tho I think qualifying for Europa league is okay (like Liverpool did last season) qualifying for Conference league or not even qualifying for European competition is a SHAME!

I would say give him one more season, I say that against what my heart is telling me, but with the new structure forming behind him lets at least give him another season, yes we all want instant success, but that rarely happens in real life, but if he f***ks up next season then bye bye Eric !

He should stay: injuries a major issue. Lack of support from owners in terms of the players he actually wanted. 3 cup finals. Has been the face of the club despite new ownership and takes all accountability. Got Rashford to 30+ goals last season which we thought was not possible. Gives youth a chance. Highest win ratio compared to any United manager with his current tenure

Personally, I would like to see him get 1.5 seasons before a decision is made. There is enough there to warrant extending him the courtesy but I would not cry foul if he got let go.
My concern with firing him is that he becomes a scapegoat for all the other problems. I would be dissapointed if he got fired and there was no big change in the roster.

Critics urging for Ten Hag's dismissal should consider the ramifications of constant managerial changes on team stability and performance. How can we expect long-term success if we don't allow a manager sufficient time to implement their strategies and overcome obstacles?

    Stays one more season because
    1. Once club operates under proper structure there cannot be any excuses. Excuses were paramount this season.
    2. There will be better options for managers after one year if ETH do not do good next season.
