My little guy is a month and 2 days old and I'm going through the same thing. No sleep and a fussy baby but luckily he's getting better since I cut out chocolate and spicy food which I love but oh well. I'm feeling frustrated and like I'm failing because I can't keep up with the house. I'm alone all day. I thought it'd be easier to do it all and it doesn't help that his daddy questions why I haven't done more.

What they said! And i close a door, go room by room and bring any trash or laundry with me room to room so it can accumulate. And i leave vacuuming and floors for last since it’s noisy and can disturb my neighbors.

My daughter was never diagnosed with reflux but looking back it may have been silent reflux. She cried literally every hour of every day. She would grunt and groan like Jackson does, always uncomfortable and acted like her tummy hurt all the time. Her docs said it was just colic and she should grow out of it by 4 months. She didn’t so at about 5 months we tried formula and she was a completely different baby. I don’t know why but I guess the breastmilk just didn’t sit right with her. I even tried giving her a few oz of frozen breastmilk when she was about 9 months and she had the same symptoms. It broke my heart to not be able to breastfeed her but man it was nice getting some sleep and seeing how relieved she was. Hang in there mama, I know just how you feel & man is it so exhausting. That little babe loves you so much and if he could, he would say “thank you mama” for helping and advocating for him.

So glad you are giving him formula to see if it eases his belly issues. See if the new med helps. Be specific with your reports to the pediatrician about close to exact amounts he actually brings up. What I see on the videos is probably reflux, but not as bad as many. Obviously, he is getting nourishment because he's gaining weight. But the grunts and groans and writhing are so sad and worrisome. He does need to get to the point where he can do the normal eat-play-sleep pattern that allows him to have awake time stimulation, including tummy time several times a day, that will then give him learning to process when he's asleep. Poor baby can't play at all, in the manner that infants do, because he is so uncomfortable. I remember one time I felt constipated and thought I was going to die alternating with wanting to die. It was ugly. And gas is no fun when there's a lot of it. Are you doing the baby massages for gas yet? Do you burp him halfway through each feed (breast or bottle) and then switch breasts for the second half, if nursing? My purpose in asking that is partially, is he efficient at feeding or just eating too fast and his tiny tummy isn't handling that much milk that quickly at any one feed well? All babies are different, but they do outgrow colic within the "4th trimester" after birth or you will figure out what the sensitivity or problem is that does not directly relate to an immature gut. It is painful to watch and I take it he still has you up a lot at night with his pain, not just to feed. But, thank God you are going through this while at your parents' home where there is back-up. Sad to say, it isn't what he likes for sleeping, it's what he can rest in, sleep in when his belly is acting up on him. You give him a new sleep option and it seems to work for one night until he figures out it, too, is not going to stop his discomfort allowing him the sleep he so desperately need at this tender age. Don't bounce him up and down. Look up on the internet the football hold that allows you to rock him back and forth on your arm and it may calm him down. It works for many babies and you can add the shushing sounds and other recommendations. But side to side is better than rocking up and down and I would try the on his belly football hold to see if that helps him. It may encourage more gas to come out of him even. Until you try it, you cannot know what a different position will do for him. Can the pediatrician feel gently if his stomach is in a normal position in his abdomen? It's hideous not to be able to help your baby or give him comfort or help relieve his discomfort with at least a 3 hour feeding cycle.

You should try wearing a cloth baby carrier.. That would definitely help with the back pain hopefully.
Also my doctor said that babies are supposed to nurse 10 mins max if he has reflux. They don't release enough enzymes to breakdown all the lactic acid. Good luck! You're doing great

    Hi Kayla,
I appreciate how real you are with your audience. I can actually relate to your content. My 14 month old was the same at that age, he had severe reflux and I felt so bad seeing him in pain.
Best of luck to you and remember “this too shall pass”

I could have made this video myself. My newborn is going through the same thing. The reflux is worse wen I drink cow milk. Just that my baby was born 8 lbs 5 oz so she lost some weight but gained it back and hit the 10 lbs range at her 1 month appointment

So sorry it's been such a struggle. Jackson sounds just like my little boy was as a newborn. Even cosleeping didn't help much. He started to do a bit better around 8 weeks. It was still rough and he wasn't a great sleeper, but time really helped his digestion. Sending a hug and the hope that your little guy starts to feel more comfortable soon so you can all get some rest.

I would love for you to do a video on how your dynamic with Riley, being the only baby to now sharing that time and attention with Jackson, has changed. My daughter is 3 months younger than Riley and I'm trying to get pregnant again, but also am so afraid of how the dynamic will change when we have another. I know from one of your videos when you were pregnant you had similar fears, so I'm just wondering how it all changed and hopefully squash my fears! Also, how did you get Riley to accept sharing attention with a new sibling? You have a beautiful family, God bless ❤️

Tummy time on a warm towel (right out of the dryer) works well for my great grand daughter. Reflux, colic, nursing vs formula - it's trial & error. You got this mama !! He is a keeper, cute as can be. Thanks for sharing your life !!

My son spit up, every single meal for 9 months. My daughter spit up pretty often for about the same amount of time. They both gained weight just fine. But my son had reflux for about 2 months. I didn’t feel comfortable with medication. I just juiced cucumbers and apples daily and this helped him significantly, through breastfeeding. SENDING LOVE 💕 AND GOOD VIBES! You got this mama!!

I'm so thankful they are helping you with the acid reflux, my doctors didn't believe me and when they finally gave me the acid reducer my son went from uncomfortable and unhappy all the time to the happiest boy. Laying him flat on his back may be what's making it tough for him to sleep, being upright helps lesson the discomfort. Untill we got his dosage to the point it helped a lot I relied on the swing (he was angled upright in it) and holding my boy upright for 10 minutes after feedings. Hope it starts to bother him less at night so you both can sleep comfortably!

I had to cut diary too for like 3 weeks because my baby has skin problems and In needed to find out if it's because of my diet.... and it was horrible 🙈 Couldn't even drink coffee which I loooove without milk. But I survived 😂 and it turned out that it is not the cause... You can do it, we moms can do anything for our babies ❤️

Kayla, as hard as it is at times don’t loose hope sweet momma. My little one suffered reflux awful to from the time he was born. So bad he would have it coming out his nose and it would choke him and he would actually stop breathing. He was on meds, and a hypoallergenic formula which helped some, but he basically just had to suffer which was awful but the older he’s gotten it has got better your on the right track. Just wanted to share with you. It’s definitely something hard to fight thru and seeing them suffer so hopefully he will get better soon :) your awesome and doing a wonderful job. Love watching you and getting inspiration. Take care ❤️

Also wanted to add, I know with my little boy if he was flat of the back that made the reflux hurt worse so he always had to be elevated so maybe try that to. He was most comfortable in his swing where he was semi upright or propped on a few pillows. :)

My little one had acid reflux too and we exclusively breastfed but I ended up having to cut out dairy, eggs, and gluten from my diet and once I did that she was sooo much happier and hardly spit up. We eventually gave her eggs and gluten again around a year old and she was able to have dairy again around 18 months.

My baby boy was so gassy, grunted nonstop, straining to poop, became lethargic & irritable. He hated the bassinet, would wake up constantly after maybe 15 minutes of sleep at most. Not my happy baby. I started with a probiotic and then later cut out dairy (It takes a week or two for the dairy to be completely out to notice a difference). That made him into my happy baby, but still spit up a ton! when I started having him sleep on a wedge pillow with a reste strap to hold him in the right position. It made him sooo much better!!! And he almost immediately started sleeping 4 hours at a time!! I know ur probably getting a lot of advice and sick of hearing suggestions! Lol U have to try to figure out what works for your baby, and I hope your lil man feels better ASAP so u all get sleep!! U family is adorable!!

Hi Kayla my daughter was exactly the same as Jackson and on top of it she had bright green poop every hour. They tested her diaper and found traces of blood which led them to diagnose her with milk and soy protein allergy. I had to remove dairy and soy from my diet and it took 6 weeks for my breast milk to become clean and not hut her anymore.

I have a 3 month old with bad reflux and one thing you might try is burping him more frequently. That helped or little girl quite a bit. We had to try to burp get after every ounce with a bottle and it took us a bit to figure or how often during nursing since she actually is a slow nurser. With how much he's gaining and how fast he nurses, that means he's eating a lot super fast... Maybe try every 2 minutes or so while he's actively swallowing? Just a suggestion, hope it's helpful. Our little one still spits up if we don't elevate her after she eats but she's not uncomfortable all the time anymore. Good luck, I know it's hard ❤️

I had a friend who's baby boy would literally throw up everything he took in many times a day. Every time he would start choking so she always had that baby in the ER. They kept telling her she was exaggerating and send them home. So finally she had an aunt that was nurse and she convinced one of the surgeons to take a look at him. And clearly discovered that something in his stomach was not closing off the way it should. They did surgery when he was a month old and after that the poor little guy and his exhausted mother were much better. Sorry for the long story but I just felt like I needed to tell it.

Our babies are 10 days apart. My daughter is exactly the same!!! Spits up a lot. Grunts all day, everyday, even when she’s sleeping.
I cut a lot of dairy out. Still have cheese once in a while. But I truly think it has helped her out. She grunts while she sleeps but no where near as much. Just keep in mind, it takes about 2 weeks for the dairy to leave your system completely. So don’t give up if you don’t see any difference right away.
Lucky you. My daughter can eat off one side for days. And then still wants the other breast!!!
My doctor (located in miami) also said the same thing. I know we are concerned but it’s normal for them to go through this and sometimes there isn’t much we can do. So sad to see them go through it though.
