You could do less presents in December and do one or 2 for their half birthdays in the summer. I’m super curious to see how you organize all of their toys and if you guys ever go through and donate/declutter?
this is the way. i’ve always said that june is the best birthday month (evenly spaced between christmas). mine is in march and i even feel like it’s too close. must be crazy having ur birthday in december lol
Whenever I need toy buying inspiration I watch these videos of you😂 can you show us the toys in action once you gift them to the kids? I'd love to see how they play with them since my kids seem to be bored by literally any toy within 1 hour of getting it 😅
I love watching these videos. I usually watch the ones you posted on previous years to get ideas because my system for Christmas starts in January one or two items per month that way by September I’m all done with all of my Christmas shopping, extended family and all.
My birthday is in the middle of December and my mom always made sure it was special. My son's half birthday is on my birthday so he will be 18 months old this December. A June birthday for him makes it so nice to space out new toys.
Lovely gifts. I have 8 grandchildren and I have bought the little people big yellow bus for each and every one of them around age 2 😂. It’s always a massive hit. I have no idea what magic fairy dust they throw over that thing, but I’ve never met a child who didn’t instantly love it. Have a wonderful Christmas 😊
I have been stuck in indecision about whether to go with the Tonies box or the Yoto player forever! I have a 16 month old and an almost 4 year-old. Which do you like best?
My son is 17 months old and he got the yoto mini from my SIL early as we saw them the weekend before Thanksgiving (they're a days drive away). He is able to put the cards in and out and he does change the songs and volume but I'm not sure how intentional it is. We've been using it when he asks for the TV but we don't want to turn it on and it works. We've started with the super simple songs cards as he is already familiar and a fan. I like that the cards are easy to store and don't take up much space. I also like that we can make our own.
I have a 2.5 year old and he has a Yoto player and I have a 2.5 year old nephew and he has a tonie box. They both are more engaged with the tonie box because it has fun recognizable characters for them and they can turn it off and on easily. They like the Yoto player as well but they just see the photo on the screen that they recognize. I would say the tonie is perfect for 0-5 and the Yoto is perfect for 5+. The one huge difference I’ve noticed is also the cost for what you get. The Yoto cards have way more content on each card and are cheaper.
For younger kids and/or kids who are more into songs and like to listen to the same songs again and again, the Tonie box for sure. For older kids and/or kids who prefer stories and like new content more often, the yoto. We had both and I returned the Yoto because it was beyond frustrating for our then 2 year old. It just wasn't working the way she wanted it to. Both our second and third kid were able to easily navigate the tonie box before their first birthday. So it's really great for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. For us personally, the yoto would be a bit pointless - our kids love to play their own music, which is very easy for them with the tonie box. At the age where the tonie box isn't enough anymore (our oldest is 5 now and starting to like listening to stories and more variety), it is much cheaper to set up an old school mp3 player (one only showing tracks) since at this age she can easily navigate that and find what she's looking for. But every kid is different - I wouldn't do yoto under age 3 though if the child gets easily frustrated.
Hey there 🙋. Greetings, I remember a while back you made a video where we commented our Amazon wishlist and people could purchase some of them. Just wanted to say my kids were very happy 🥹 because they got some things from the wishlist
My birthday is the 18th lol My parents always made sure my bday was separate and just as big as my other siblings! Great ideas! My kids love pretty much all the things shown!
I have a 4y boy, 2y boy, and 10m girl and like your children, the younger ones play with the things the older kids have gotten so we kept christmas pretty simple: picasso tile magnetic tiles, picasso tile stem builder toy (new for them), picasso hedgehog builder (new for them), books, puzzles, and for the baby I got her the little people barbie dream house. With them being so close in age they all play with all the toys so we really just added to some existing sets since they all play with them.
****The winter Fox is Norrah, there’s a beautiful book you can order called Norrah that is about the Fox Norrah. My granddaughter is getting Norrah on December 1st, she travels with self on the shelf from the North Pole so that she doesn’t have to travel alone.
My daughters 8 like 7 days after christmas and mine is December is was so hard for my parents I only got like 2 gifts because christmas was 3 weeks later
I just got the blu track and was about to recommend it. Another thing that I recommend is a trampoline and an indoor sensory swing. I did the whole crazy bought every toy in the past, but am tired of cleaning it all up and disappointing myself when he doesn't play with it. Also, I now ONLY buy what I KNOW that he would love and not buying for my inner child or maybe my Fantasy child. I Swear that my Fantasy child plays with the while Melissa and Doug line, this child bakes and has a Market and sells lemonade 😂. I love my real child and realize that my real child saves me LOTS of money because there really are only a few types of toys that Joseph plays with. I literally have a mini trampoline in my living room so that he gets his daily exercise. It's about to get really cold here in Ohio and I want him to stay active. Joseph grew 3 inches and gained 10 pounds in just 3 months. This kid is the size of a 6 yo. Anyhow, thanks for sharing. I have a few board game suggestions for you. ❤
Hey Kayla! Happy Thanksgiving! I'm also a homeschool mom pregnant with baby #4. I know how the clutter and toys can affect us and just truly curious why dont you minimize the gift giving? I know your family loves toys but just wondering why dont you jusy give each kid 1forft for Christmas and 1 for their birthdays? Again as a SAHM I know how the toy clutter can get crazy. Just truly asking a genuine question.
@@katemiller7874 Most of the time kids don't even play with half the toys they get. We do one quality gift and a book and we might start doing a family experience gift as well (zoo tickets, musical tickets or other days out). There are plenty of ways to give your kids a fun Christmas without all the stuff - December boxes, decorating cookies, gingerbread houses, Christmas movies with fun snacks, light tours, giving to others, Church events etc. Obviously Kayla can do whatever she likes for her family and what works best for them but I think it's a very legitimate question to ask why she doesn't consider minimising a little. I don't think kids need a load of presents each year to have fun and even if they are used to it, there are ways you can begin to set a new standard and minimise presents and also bring focus back to the real reason for the season - whether the original religious meaning of Jesus' birth and also the secular focus on family and giving.
That works for your family and that’s great. For other families they want to do more. We do Christmas huge in my family and that brings me joy as a mom. Do I complain weekly about how many toys my kids have? 100%. But they are only little once.

@@katemiller7874Kate stop. Moms are busy enough with everything else, we don’t need a random person shaming us for not sitting on the floor 24 hours a day with our kids. Independent play is perfectly ok to expect from a 5 year old.
My daughter loves Bluey, so her big gift is the Bluey Camper from Sam's Club. My son loves action figures, so he's getting a couple along some TMNT. My mom got them some Crayola Magnet Tiles which is perfect because they spent all day a week ago playing Magnet Tiles. My son is 5 and daughter is 4. I know she wlovd love the giant Crayola Scibble Scrubbie. I didn't know there was such a thing.
I'm glad she mentioned the capes. I bought the costume capes, batman, flash, superman, etc for my daughters birthday party and the kids had so much fun with them. I act sent a little boy home with the batman one cause he was just so enchanted. Definitely a big win.
I watched Kayla when Riley was 4 until they discussed about having or not 3rd baby and I was in a rough period finding out I'm pregnant with my second. Then I had a break from social media, and when I came back I subscriebed again but not regulary watch the channel. Now I was also "How is Riley 7!!!?"
Sorry. Second comment from me. I was just wondering about the book you bought your little girl. We’re not overly religious so I guess this kind of thing doesn’t really come up for us with the grandchildren. The book is so pretty but, for instance, with the Joan of Arc story, how do they handle the fact that she was burned at the stake? Do they just not mention it? I’m really curious because that would freak my 7 year old granddaughter out 😂
Check out the Radio Flyer Scoot 2 Pedal. We have had so many hours of indoor play from this little bike. I thrifted it when my son was 18 mo. He is now 4 and it still gets played with daily. The pedals aren't great, but the trunk is so much fun.
I love this video. It is so encouraging to see you getting God's for your kids to emphasize their youthfulness. I have seen a few gift-giving idea videos and it seems like they are always trying to make children mature faster than they need you with the toys that they give. I feel like for your children's age these toys are perfect and I love that you are not giving them toys to try to make sure them or get them out of that innocent, youthful time. Our children are only young for a short time. I pray you all have a wonderful Birthday season and wonderful Christmas season. BTW I know you said two of your children happy birthday is right around Christmas which is tough financially. Just to give you some encouragement I know exactly where you're coming from. I have five children and one of their birthdays is in February then 2 weeks later is another, 7 days is another, and then 7 Days later is another so I have four of my children's birthdays within four weeks. My oldest is the only one who is in July so it is far away from everyone else's.
Kids your kids ages can have combined birthdays and Christmas so celebrate birthdays and Christmas the same day and not both separate. Then less presents and say Santa brought the presents for both Christmas and birthday
Please don’t do this. Each child has their own identities and deserves their own celebration. Also, it’s not the Childs fault for having a bday close to Christmas so don’t combine those presents.
I think this is not a nice way to acknowledge a childs birthdays. I've had friends with December birthday and they always hated it being joint with Christmas
I have a birthday close to Christmas growing up and this would have saddened me. I think just one or two quality gifts for each occasion would be a better solution.
