    Also the sleep regression coincides with growth spurts and affects appetite as well.

    The putting hands and objects in his mouth is his way if exploring his world. Its a new skill he is learning. Its also why he is drooling-its the body’s way of protecting itself from the germs being introduced into his mouth. I have an almost two month old and a two year old and feel we r experiencing similar things as far as challenges-my newborn is colicky and nothing like how my daughter was

    With his bottle of formula do you need to upgrade his teat flow. Maybe he needs a faster flow?

    • @MommaBeeBritt
      @MommaBeeBritt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Madeeha Naqeeb good idea, cause breast milk flows faster through nipples that formula does. So that would make sense he likes the breast milk better. But formula is gross so maybe it’s that 😂

    I had my baby on December 20 2019 and she had similar problems. Our pediatrician suggested we put her on the premixed quarts of formula. And to warm it up and she started eating like crazy again lol. she said the ready to feed is easier to digest and its thicker and it taste sweeter. We use the similac sensitive.

    Hey Kayla. My son was born on the same day as Jackson and I am having the same issues. We just seemed to get over the worst of the reflux and we had a couple really good days together but now suddenly the last about 5 days my babe has been really fussy. Wanting to eat all the time and drooling like crazy. I'm putting it down to the 3 month growth spurt coupled with teething. 😏

    Hi Kayla. Try downloading an app called The Wonder Weeks if you haven’t done so already. It’s based on a book by the same name. It guides you through each cognitive and physical leap baby goes through, what they are learning and how it impacts sleep, causes fussiness, loss of appetite etc. It’s usually been bang on with both my kids so have a look see ❤️

    My daughter and my son would always wake up after 30 minutes also. I read that’s how long a sleep cycle lasts and they have a hard time transitioning between sleep cycles. I always try to put them back down after they wake up too soon.

    My baby is one week younger than yours, and when he starts taking his hand into his mouth, and he rejects milk, I give him his pacifier and that’s it, that’s what he wanted, he uses it to sooth himself 🥰

    Our second baby was born a couple of days after Jackson and we basically have the same situation here: drooling all over the place, cranky, can't stay awake for much more than an hour but suddendly wakes up every hour during the night to nurse. Pretty sure it's the third mental leap. Wonder weeks are not wonderful at all... Good luck! :-D

    Por cute Jackson.
    Putting things in his mouth is part of how they learn about the things around them, he's exploring, it could be a teething issue, my baby got his first tooth whe he was 4 months old.
    I hope he gets better 😊

    My 3 month old started her 4 month sleep regression early so they could be it?? Her naps are now 20-30 mins and she’s gone from sleeping 5 hours then wake to eat then back to sleep - to now waking after every 2 hrs 😭😭🤨 dd1 went through it at 4 months but we sleep trained her at 5 months so it defo helped with the wakings...

    My little man is 17 days younger but similar to little Jackson. At his two months check up the doctor said the spitting up gets worse before it gets better and can peak around 4 months. But I noticed when I cut the dairy and caffeine out again like I did with my last it doesn’t bother him as much. Also when I went back to work last time we would put a bowl or cup of water and put it in the microwave then then put the frozen milk in it. Defrosts way faster when their freaking out.

    I swear our little ones are the same in so many ways! Just thought I was past our reflux issues and milk/feeding issues. Now she is fussy eating, drooling and has decided to eat her hands only. My pediatrician said when teething it's common for them to be fussy feeding. She's a few weeks older than Jackson. I'm pretty sure she is regressing because she used to sleep 10 hours, and then the last 2 weeks she just has started waking up every 2 hours at night and her naps have been all over the place now.. 😐 it's wonderful. Lucky they are the cutest!

      Omg and shoving everything in their mouths! I think he's teething, it got so confusing because my Willow used to suck her hands when she was hungry but now she just chews on her hands constantly, or anything even my hand sometimes haha

    I was wondering the same thing about the fists in mouth thing, my baby is a little over 2 months and he’s been doing that for a couple weeks. Apparently they start doing that as a self soothing thing and because they’re finally finding their hands and just experimenting with them!

    Our babies are so close in age. My son will be 3 months on March 14th. Have you looked up the app the wonder weeks? He's going through a leap right now or right at the end of his 3rd leap. It could explain all his fussiness.

  • @andreafinley1814
    @andreafinley1814 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Kayla,
    My baby will be 3 months old on March 10th as well. Right there with you! She is teething now so experiencing some of the same things as Jackson. I’ve been enjoying your videos since I’m a first time mom so getting some tips from seeing what you’re up to and feels like I have a friend going through the same thing even though you can’t see me! I live in Canada and it’s cold here so it’s hard being stuck inside with a small baby during these months. My baby has also gotten more used to breast milk as I had supply issues to begin with but now I am making usually just enough (a good thing for me based on where I came from). I had to pump a lot to get here. We had latch issues so I am pretty much exclusively pumping. She was used to formula before but now since she’s used to BM more she is resistant to the formula as well for the off time I need or choose to supplement.
    Tip with the teething that my sister gave me and has helped with my baby when she gets fussy:
    Heat up (10 seconds) coconut oil in the microwave so it’s liquid. Add ONE drop of lavender essential oil. Rub it on the soles of baby’s feet and under his whole jaw line. It makes her go right zen. Then we sometimes give her a pacifier to knaw on and she usually falls asleep. We have a teething ring but unfortunately bc she’s an early teether, she’s not able to HOLD a teething ring yet but soon hopefully. I have a teething bunny similar to a Sophie giraffe so I will hold it for her sometimes.
    Poor babies. Must stink to have the pain and not know why.
    Anyway, your tips have been helpful for me so I thought I’d share one that I have gained to see if I can give back to you or any other moms reading.
    Another side note, my baby is getting baptized (like Jackson) on March 15 so less than a week after she is three months. Looking forward to that special day so I appreciated your baptism day vlog. 😊
    Will continue following you on you tube and hope Jackson (and Mama) get some relief soon and continue growing healthily and happily!
    😊

    Maybe he's having a growth spurt..

  • @philippapay4352
    @philippapay4352 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Jackson could be at the very earliest stages of teething. At this stage he is really just discovering his hands in terms of being able to suck on them or grab with them. Before he could see them, but had no clue what they were for. In another month he'll hit the sleep regression/developmental leap. But is he still making a half day effort to get a poop out? Is he passing gas a normal amount in terms of burps and farts? When you put body lotion on him at bedtime, do you do the leg bicycling and the belly massages with him to get the gas out of his bowels? Does he exhibit any signs of reflux anymore, as in real throw-ups as opposed to mere burp-ups? He still seems calmer and happier than he was. He cannot control that being overtired creates crankiness because he cannot get back to sleep. His brain and body are screaming for the rest. It's like a toddler getting overstimulated and then they cannot sleep. In the case of overstimulation, it is on the adults who let it happen. It isn't cute or funny. It is cruel because there's this tiny person who has no control over or understanding of what is happening to them. So the big deal here is what is causing him to not sleep full sleep cycles and get proper rest. The feed, play, sleep pattern is a good one. He is eating at fairly normal intervals. It is good not to start potty-training Riley until after the move. She could be drinking milk at that level as her body making up for what she doesn't eat in solid foods. I hope there's nothing amiss going on in Jackson's belly again. What does his pediatrician say about it now?

  • @stephaniele5412
    @stephaniele5412 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sounds just like my kiddo. He's 3 months and only taking 30 minute naps unless we hold him. Having issues connecting his sleep cycles. Thinking it's a growth spurt. He's curious about everything and wants to look at things while breastfeeding and he's not taking a full feed. Hoping it will pass but you're not alone!

  • @annettemarquez8934
    @annettemarquez8934 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you tried paced bottle feeding him his meals? Maybe that would help to prevent his tummy from getting upset. Babies can feel sick from drinking too much too fast so pacing the feed is a way to slow them down. This also helps the breast fed baby not get unused to working hard to get his breast milk when getting it from the boob.

    Same exact thing with me! So I don't think it's the formula because my baby eats perfectly also at night. I think cuz they are so sleepy they have reflux and eat more. I try put binky in his mouth and that relaxes him enough to eat good during the day.

    I found brewers yeast in cowboy lactation cookies (cookies with peanutbutter, flax seeds, brewers yeast, coconut flakes... Super delicious!) And in smoothies. Unfortunately I got the bitter yeast so 😵 I still choke it down on salads and such (tastes much better in smoothies and cookies) to help a whole bunch. I went from about 1/2 and ounce each breast to almost 2 ounces together. Its only been a week though.
    I bought the Mommy Knows Best brand
    My baby is now almost 2 months old and its the best thing to happen to me 😍

    I have no experience besides what I’m learning from others and my baby. She was born on December 16th and she is doing the same thing, drooling a ton and sucking on her fists! I’m really hoping she isn’t teething 😅 my older brother started teething at 2 months. If you haven’t heard of wonder weeks it’s an app that tells you when your baby is going through a leap in development. I’m not sure how accurate it really is but it makes you feel better knowing how your baby is acting is “normal” for how old they are. Plus it gives you something to attribute the behaviour 😃

    Nutramigen smells so bad lol my baby just switched to it and it’s helped her so much but it stinks. I think she probably won’t want it when she’s a little older to. Babies are always changing once you think you’re on a routine they change it up on you. I’m happy that my older daughter that’s 2 sleeps amazingly and has a very consistent routine. My baby now is 8 months old but when I look at your feeding journey with your boy its exactly like mine, most of the time it was belly and gas from formula, so massaging and rocking him on hand , on hes belly used to get rid of gas and he would feel.much better, and its cause I used to mix my breast milk and then formula, similar like you. He was doing the same thing with putting stuff in hes mouth and it was just a leap he was going through but not teething, he started actually teething at 6 months though the signs were at 3months. So I feel you hun xxx

  • @marychah13

    It might be that he needs reflux meds again? If he continues to refuse to eat you might want to talk to the doctor and revisit the meds again. I've tried to wean my son off his baby Zantac a few times and he'll do really well for like a week or so and then start being really fussy and not eating much. A few days after we put him back on the meds he goes back to normal. Might be something to consider. Hang in there!

    My almost 3 month old does the same thing. Our pediatrician said the reflux happens at the 30 min mark and she recommended that we start him on the Enfamil A.R., but we have been reluctant because he does well with his current formula and breast milk combination. So now as soon as he wakes back up after 30 mins, we just put him right back to sleep and cut out any type of stimulation. We don’t even talk to him. Just rock him to sleep right away. He sleeps until it’s time for him to wake back up again and he is much happier. So maybe try it; hope it works:) Also, try similac pro-sensitive. That has been working really well for us, because he really hated Enfamil. We usually mix breast milk and formula for every feed. Also if he is getting fidgety while feeding, maybe try a different size nipple. We had my little one on a preemie nipple and he was okay after we upgraded him to a level 1. And I researched the drooling and hands in the mouth because my baby does too, and it’s because their salivary glands (glands that produce saliva) are developing and starting to work. Also, they are just now discovering their hands lol and the only way they know how to explore is by putting objects in their mouths. Both are very normal. My supply was down too at some point because I am exclusively pumping and it’s so exhausting 😩 but I have been eat oatmeal every morning, although I hate oatmeal, but it has been helping me. And also Gaia’s fenugreek lactation supplement is good too. Hope any of this information is helpful to you, because I know the struggle all too well😩 but from one mama to another, you are doing an amazing job❤️

He’s now doing what Jackson seems to be doing and I though the same thing. Is he teething? Is it his reflux? I don’t know and like you said it’s hard to know with them. But knowing someone else is going through the same things makes me feel a bit better. I hope Jackson feels better soon. I wish I could say I’d found something that works for my baby but I haven’t yet either. :/

    Yup! Hes definitely teething!!! I remember this stage with my son, right around 3-4 months..welcome to the teething madness! 😂 stock up on drool bibs and teethers! I used to give my son a silicone spatula (under supervision of course) and he really liked to nibble on it

      Also, try European brand of formula,called Hipp. They are organic and offer a variety of formulas for different issues. Maybe try out a box and see how he likes it? But I think Jacksons issue now seems to be him bothered by teething . Poor guy,hang in there!

      My little guy just turned 2 months and he's the exact same way but I was told it's too early to be teething ?

    • @Kseniya.Gromova

      @@kaylalacaille1039 it probably is too early to be teething. If I remember correctly, baby sucking in their hands may be a sign of hunger or maybe he needs to soothe himself. If babys not hungry, maybe try offering a pacifier if they're just looking to get soothed

    • @kaylalacaille1039
      @kaylalacaille1039 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kseniya.Gromova No he's actually teething. He's got 2 teeth coming in been teething for a while now pretty much after 1 month he started. Usually they eat their hands when teething not when hungry I was talking to my pedestrian and she explained it to me. Unfortunately he never took a pacifier since birth and still won't he freaks out which is good cause you shouldn't give a baby who's breastfeeding anything my lactation consultant told me not to give him anything.

    Have you considered giving Riley leche from your stash? Instead of maybe throwing the leche that is over, you could still use it. That seems very nutritious. Do what you think is best, i just wanted to share an idea that stroke me watching this video ☺️

    When they don't get enough during the day they will wake more at night. Try nursing on the day to see if it helps

    For the reflux: The formula brand Aptamil - Anti-reflux worked well for us. I’ve tried Hipp but it smelled bad, so Aptamil was much better and also his stools were normal, but with other formula he wasn’t able to poop.

      We're using Hipp because it's supposed to help with his stools, and that has been working for us. Every baby is different I guess :)

    Looks like he is teething the way he is trying to put everything in or near mouth. Maybe trying some teething gel on gums or maybe a tether that can be chilled. I would love to see a video on how many sleepers and onesies and bibs and burp cloths you suggest for newborn. I have see your newborn videos and they are all so good. Just trying to get daughter in Law ready for her firstborn in August.

    My daughter has very bad reflux too (Jackson is 6 days older than her) . Her pediatrician has me put a little of the formula in my breast milk to help and it has a lot. She would throw up the whole bottle at first now she takes 3oz and will only spit up a little. She now sleeps 5-6 hours during the night because she’s way less fussy and not hungry after her feedings 🙌🏽 She too has started putting her hands in her mouth but I’m not sure if she’s teething either.

    My daughter has been fussy these days too! Since I’m breastfeeding, I’ve started to trace the issue back to my diet because it’s the worst after feedings. 😭 Thanks to careful diet monitoring, I now suspect she may have a cow’s milk intolerance! Hope your cute little fussy baby feels better soon, mama!

    Kayla my boy is 7 days older than yours. Connor has been showing teething signs for a few weeks now. You can see little white marks along his gums and hes a drool monster, and putting his fist in a lot more too. He pretty much always has to have a bib on already. So i think we are a little early but on the right track, girl! Lol
