Adding french fries in a pita gyros is a sin! French fries MUST be served on the side!!!! Unfortunately, it does happen recently in Greece....Another element is tzatziki sauce (yogurt+shredded cucumber+olive oli+dill+a little garlic sauce+salt+pepper+vinegard) added in a pita pork gyro, which is optional, and customers should be asked before it is added.. The name of pita gyro is just that: Pita gyro, sοuvlaki is small pieces of meat and fresh peppers and onions skewered in a metal or wood skewer and grilled.

5 out of 10 foods are of Turkish origin, yoghurt, koulouri(simit), gyros (doner), loukmades and baklava.

turks copy pasted the cuisines of people they met. Persians , Arabs , Greeks , Armenians etc. No food is turkish. People in Greece where eating baklava variants and we find them in ancient books about food. Give it a rest. Nobody cares about your drama of "stolen food".

No they are not and stop spamming Greek cuisine related web pages, greeks have proof even from ancient sites, of the origins of many of these foods...Loukoumades were served in the Olympic games. Greeks used spits & skewers to cook meats (evidence found even in Greek museums, do a simple google search)... Baklava was called Placous in its original form.... I can go on &on....

@@sakisgr1396 ahahhaha loukma and baklava is not even greek word, stop lying! There was no food called gyros in Greece before the 1920s, you were introduced to this dish thanks to the Greeks who immigrated from Türkiye.

Turkey has renamed a ton of Greek cities into Turkish, that doesn’t make them originally Turkish, same with foods, just because during Ottoman times you changed a lot of names to fit your Turkifications, it doesn’t make the origins of these foods Turkish. Yiros means literally “turn” (you know as the food turns on a skewer or pile to be cooked)… Also traditionally yiros is pork and I am sure you and Muslims like Turks do not eat pork… Again, Greeks have archeological evidence of how ancient Greeks cooked animals on spits in what we call & yiros… Everyone can blurt out falsehoods online, especially people who are not well educated & don’t know history, but the evidence will smack you in the face. Nothing wrong with admitting that many of these foods originated by Greeks or that these are just Greek cuisine related foods. Nothing wrong with admitting also of your ancestors genocides against the native Greeks & not feeling insulted anyone points out the sad truths of what you did to the natives. But you can’t bend the truth and evidence… So please educate yourself and don’t ridicule your countrymen by showing ignorance like you are doing right now… it’s not pretty…
