@@rSkraff Well more than that how about almost everybody.
Why is he tricking her, what the context?
He has no idea
Just a dad teasing his daughter, and wanting her to be kind to their elderly neighbor.
He recognises his young daughter is bothered by the elderly couples incessant need for attention. He also recognises his daughter’s lack of compassion for a senile elderly lady and her zealous carer/partner.
He sympathises with his daughter’s contempt for the elderly couple as Joel’s personality might suggest he also would probably ignore them. But as a parent, he identifies the need to teach his daughter the importance of caring for others, being compassionate and sensitive.
So the way he delivers this lesson is in a jovial manner, by suggesting that his daughter would love to be in their company, even when he knows she would rather not.
It’s a clever way of simultaneously delivering an important lesson to a teenager/child, and also tricking/manipulating her into doing something she doesn’t want to do, but needs to do. 😊
