How good. It helped me when Thay said to forgive, to be with others, to help them. Your own suffering can decrease but you need some one to talk to and be with. We need someone to help us out. Not to stay in. To do that is a disastrous decision. Bless you dear Thay🕉️☸️🙏🏻💙🙏🏻

I’m medicated for bipolar disorder. Without I’m sick. It’s necessary for some of us.

Same here. I think our specific disorder is not understood so well, to say the least. I believe everything he said is accurate for a lot of situation, and may apply to those of us with Bipolar except for the part about going off our meds, lol.
The environment, the thought patterns, everything else...to me is as important or more important than meds, but the meds are still important. Meds don't bar my meditation practice from depth and efficacy, so I will not be taking myself off meds this lifetime lol

Recurring Anxiety and depression, in most, but not all, has been shown to be linked to trauma at an early age. Sometimes when the child is preverbal. Medication only masks the trauma response of depression. Talk therapy is the only remedy which removes the trauma memory permanently, meds are only temporary measures, when a permanent one exists.

He is once again correct. However, medication is not prescribed to best effect. MAOIs like TCP are far more effective with fewer side effects than SSRIs, but they continue to be massively underprescribed.

Its the stigma due to the fact that it reacts with tyramine, a lot more common back then but is a lot rarer nowadays, thus the doctors are terrified of it.

    • @Tattlebot

@@gay.mer9328 last year, a prescriber's guide to MAOIs was released. It was produced by an international expert working group. Unfortunately, current doctors are captive to training material influenced by SSRI marketing. This leads to voodoo practices like trialing a patient on more than half a dozen different SSRIs.

She's talking to him and he's not looking at her.
If his superior were talking to him, he would look at that person.
He doesn't cook for himself. He doesn't clean his living space.
He doesn't do his own laundry.
    He doesn't drive a car.
What he's saying his true but it has nothing to do with how he lives or where he's from.

You seem to not know much about his history and personal life nor read his books… His life is the embodiment of what he says and teaches.

He’s not only speaking to her but also to the general audience. Zen masters have a particular way of responding to questions which may seem odd to westerners. When he was alive he did his own laundry (he had only two robes). When he was younger he did drive bicycle and if I remember correctly car and motorcycle as well. He lived a life of dignity. He is probably the only spiritual teacher who never caused any scandal. A true peace warrior. Rest in peace Thay

I have seen a video of Thay cooking with several monastics. I saw him cutting the vegetables. He appeared very shy to be filmed at all. You may have made some assumptions that are not true.

Do you have any idea of what he went through in the Vietnam war? His life has included great suffering, he has just had the teachings and the tools to transform it.

Why do you think he didn't do these things for himself? Also, he was 95 when he died. In my experience, most elderly people have other people helping them with chores.
