Do things at your own pace, and if you get stuck, you can always come back later. (The game very much encourages you to do that anyway) Also, you can hurt the spinning statue guys if you shoot an egg at the gem on their forehead! They won't die, but they will be stunned.
Also, don't worry too much about 100%ing the game, cuz there's at least one Jiggy that should illegal. I scratched my controller trying to get it. Not worth it. The game should be fun, not stressful.

@Lucas The Phantom Thief I think the issue there is that they didn't rewrite them to rhyme with the new control scheme. You probably know this already, but with the original N64 controls, anytime a character is talking about controls and one of the C-buttons shows up, they're just saying C.
The boss themes in this game are one reason why I love Grant Kirkhope's music. It doesn't matter what kind of music he makes for a level, he's always able to turn it into a bombastic boss theme.
I love Jamjars' drill sergeant speech patterns! The way he says the syllables can actually be matched to the music that plays during it! It's fantastic!
Some tips: 1) Read the question mark signs. Those often contain puzzle solutions. 2) Since you’re switching to the XBLA version, you can see what jiggies you still need to get through the Help & Options menu. 3) If your health bar pops up when you’re near a honeycomb, that means it’s one of the slot ones. Watch your step.
GG is totally invited to Chad's next party along with the Bagel soldiers. Since Jon knows some tricks for this game, I hope he later shows Lucah an amusing exploit you can do when talking to Mumbo. And we also meet Jamjars, whose rhymes throw me off since I'm an American who doesn't pronounce Z as "zed" like the Brits at Rare. Plus the songs pick and choose how to say the C Buttons, where sometimes it's C-Up and other times it's Up-C. Also, you can talk to Jamjars again to get a normal, non-song explanation of the move.
Mayahem Temple also contains quite a lot of football (British football) references! The chant in the music is 'Come and have a go, if you think you're hard enough' - pretty much daring rival fans to start a fight.

Since Jon messed up the first rhyme a little, this is how it's meant tog o. And this rhyme is lost in the Xbox versions of this game because of the new controller. "What you need is an aiming sight, Hit the target then you might First-person view by pressing up-C Hit Z to fire with Accuracy" You'll find they rhyme the letter C with things a lot in these marching rhymes.
Also, since this is a British game, they pronounce Z as Zed. This comes into play with a few of the rhymes, too. People tend to get tripped up by that.

You should be able to stun those stonehead shooters for a short period of time with regular blue eggs, using the egg aim. Aim at the diamond on the top of the head from a distance and shoot a few blue eggs. They will eventually reset though, just like any enemy
I really love how Luca can remember any of the moves apart from the "poop move" it hilarious such a juvenil joke kept a move you normally rarely use in the first game in her memory

A quick tip, you ARE able to knock out those rotating statue heads as long as you aim at the diamond on their head. I believe they come back after a period of time... It is better to fire at them from a distance instead of upclose where they activate and shoot you while you try and aim at them. Also, if someone can correct me if I am wrong especially since I don't think the game tells you...??? But because of the zooming goggles you got from Bottle's kids, you can still zoom in while you try to fire your eggs. It can help with dealing with the statue heads from afar.
Glad I'm not the only one who went "Heyyyy, 'jamjars' was a name Kazooie used in the LAST game!" upon meeting the Sarge for the first time. In hindsight, he's a pretty funny American stereotype from those Brits at Rare, and I always love those.

Wow, Jon didn’t know you can shoot eggs at the gems on the statues to disable them. I believe if you press C down while in Breegull Blaster mode, you can aim upwards. You could also go into first person mode but I find the other method easier.
I don't actually love how much the moggies sound like cats when you kill them. but I do think it's funny how the moggie chief seems to be worried about respecting targetzan and then the guy just starts sacrificing the members of the people who're worshiping them.
Absolutely go around exploring everything to your hearts contempt, that's what the game is about. Also I'm pretty sure you can take out the dart throwers as soon as you get egg-aiming.

Also Jamjars is our designated rhymer of this game now, but only when he’s teaching you a new move and only on the first time. 6:22 No, they definitely come back. Everything in this game respawns except for certain mobs and bosses (which IIRC there’s a boss rush mode in this game). Even the beehives respawn! 8:00 I wish there was an option to keep the reticle from centering. 11:50 Glowbos replace Mumbo tokens in this game. They’re not nearly as plentiful, but you only need one to get Mumbo’s help. 12:50 Because Mumbo’s not the only magic user in this game despite being the self-proclaimed best shaman. 13:12 Wait until you see how he uses that stick. Also Mumbo’s probably the most disappointing part of this game sadly. He can fight, but he lacks the versatility and range of Banjo or Kazooie. He’s only really used for the Mumbo pads (which are like the context sensitive actions from Conker’s Bad Fur Day), and they’re all automated except for this world’s which you get to control. Also Mumbo is very squishy, and I don’t think his health improves. Really good thing they did away with lives. You can rotate in place while Mumbo has his taser out, which is great because you’re a sitting duck otherwise, but it can’t block projectiles either so… 14:30 These maps are massive and have a lot of transition zones. Certain Jiggies are impossible to get without warping. 16:00 This is why Mumbo needs a Glowbo to help out. He can’t do his ritual outside of his house without it. 29:16 Someone got Goldeneye in my Banjo. No, really, this temple reuses the layout of one of Goldeneye’s maps. Think it’s Archive? 30:50 It’s pretty cool. You can play as Grunty, Mumbo, and I think Jamjars. I forget who else you can use, but it’s not just Banjo and Banjo clones even if the other characters are just skins a la Goldeneye and similar games (like Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy). 32:10 “Slightly Sacred” implies the existence of “More Sacred”. No joke. This cutscene is just to notify you that you meet the bare minimum to get one Jiggy. However if you collect all the idols, you’re reward with a more sacred chamber with another Jiggy. It’s a Xenomorph. Probably the enemy I like the least in this game appearance wise. It really doesn’t look like it belongs in a Banjo game. 34:12 The last surviving Albino Jinjo. Not if you’re switching to the 360. While Brentilda is not in this game, there are random elements to each file of Banjo Tooie to make the experience more unique, and one of those things are the locations of each colored Jinjo. You found the white one here, but odds are you won’t find it here again when you switch over. 38:30 You’re probably thinking of the Tower of the Gods boss.
You can also play as a Jingo (who is basically Oddjob), but you have to unlock him through Stop and Swap first. They also have their own weight classes and birds they handle, so it's some neat content that's exclusive to the multiplayer (like the proximity eggs and other items).

You were both right and wrong about the shooting statues. You can KO them with an egg shot to the jewel on their forehead, but as lucah suspected, they will reactivate after a while. Jon's laugh when lucah mentioned 'having to aim eggs while being attacked' was priceless. XD Good luck lucah. :D
We spent 15 minutes of this episode as the pee Goliath, you know, IN THE BATHROOM. But it was the best 15 minutes I’ve had in a long time…is that a euphemism? I’m not sure. Either way, as promised, Jon earned 3 Jiggies so far, in the shooting section, meanwhile Lucah earned a different 2 here in Mayahem Temple.
5:52 You can't defeat Sput Sputs (yes, that's their actual name) by using Egg Aim, but you can disable them by hitting the crystal on their forehead with that move. 10:21 Didn't need to see Bloatazin from this angle... 13:11 Yep, this is why Mumbo is on the cover of this game along with Banjo and Kazooie! 19:20 Happy to hear that, this game certainly has some frustrating parts that Jon will probably have to play through, but overall it's so much fun! 20:33 Didn't know you could collect the Jinjo this way, cool! 21:42 I'm pretty sure there's another way to break this and the same goes for the rock that covered the Flight Pad, but if you want to do it now you have to let the Golden Goliath do it. 22:12 You might have noticed by playing the Xbox version after this that the Jinjos are randomized in this game which is pretty cool! 27:08 Luckily using Egg Aim for this is nowhere near as difficult as the shooting minigames (and Bombchu Bowling) in Ocarina despite the better aiming in that game. 32:48 The eggs Jon picked up here are Golden Eggs, you can find them only in certain areas and can be used only for a limited time, but they can be fired rapidly and are infinite as long as the timer doesn't run out. 37:32 It's kind of weird that this species has the same name as one of Boggy's children.
I’m commenting six minutes in, but you can actually do something to the shooting statues as BK. Just aim in first person and hit the jewel at the top of its head, and it will stun for several seconds. Doesn’t take them out, but if you need some breathing room it is helpful.
It's been a while since I played GoldenEye, so I can't be certain how close this first FPS section is, but the layout reminds me of Egyptian (the final bonus level in GoldenEye). Later in the game you get Stack and Complex. It's much easier to do those later levels if you're familiar with the basic layout from GoldenEye rather than trying to learn the map in Tooie.
So I take it Jon's taking the FPS segments of the game then? I at least hope Lucah gets to do the one in the 5th world considering how simple it is. (POTENTIAL IMPLICATION SPOILER AHEAD) That also makes me excited for the end of the game because if they do what I hope they'll do, it's going to be very funny and also kind of cute. People who've finished the game may know what I'm talking about :)
Man, I heard Banjo-Tooie was big, but this is way more than I was expecting, I knew Mumbo was playable but I didn't think he'd do stuff like let you play as Gigi (GG?), nor did I know anything about the first person shooter segments... well, more game means more time to screw around, so it'll be a fun ride no matter how much progress is made. Kazooie's extra to-the-point this time, I suppose Grunty tried to murder everyone and did kill Bottles, interrupting a perfectly fine break from adventuring, so I get it. I'd also probably just wanna advance if it meant getting this over with after the death of a friend that once came out of the poop hills.
Eekum Bokum, let the Mayahem begin! 7 Jiggies in one ep is excellent progress, but keeping that up won't be possible. They really make you backtrack a lot, though not as much as DK64.
Usually I try to get 7 or 8 jiggies when visiting a world for the first time, then I deem it okay to move on to the next one. I’m interested to see how you guys go about it.
Another thing about the Jinjos is that their colour is randomised with every playthrough. That means you could find all members of a family very early on in the game or you could not complete any of them until quit a bit into the game. It really throws speedrunners off because it's fairly inconsistent. 34:02 I also played this for the first time like two weeks ago and funnily enough, the White Jinjo was also in that same exact location for me. 27:20 At least Ocarina of Time had aiming that properly functions. If there's something I really don't like about Banjo Tooie, it's everything that has to do with first person shooting. I hate that the cursor centres back so you can't really aim without letting go of the control stick and I especially hate the Breegull Blaster-sections because I always get lost in there. If I wanted to actually play your shooters, I would, Rare.
Man I so agree that this is the game where Rare started doing too much. I'm afraid of how it's going to go in the later levels. They are so obnoxiously confusing.
I very much view Donkey Kong 64 as the game where Rare became too ambitious for their own good. Obviously, from a purely technical standpoint, DK64 was pretty incredible for its time, & still stands out as one of the most visually impressive N64 games both in terms of texture detail, lighting, and even the vastness and scope of its environments and how dense it is with everything they were able to pack into thar cartridge. Unfortunately, I think they let their ambitions get the better of them, as so much of that content felt needlessly padded and tedious with the amount collectibles that forced you to constantly backtrack through a level with the different Kong's while also dealing with each characters separate gimmicks. It made the game feel bloated for the sake of scale and because it was visually and technically impressive, not because the game design benefited from how cluttered its collect-a-thon aspect was. Banjo Tooie also suffers from this issue to an extent, but more from the size of its levels and lack of signposts which can cause you get lost very easily.

Wow, Jon didn’t know you can shoot eggs at the gems on the statues to disable them. I believe if you press C down while in Breegull Blaster mode, you can aim upwards. You could also go into first person mode but I find the other method easier.
I'm pretty sure you can hit the yellow jewel to temporarily stun the rock face statue enemies.

Notes no longer hinder progress, at least not in the usual way. There’s no more note doors, but like in Kazooie a lot of Jamjars’s moves are required to beat the game (whereas just about every move Bottles teaches is required to beat the game since you need 96 of the 100 Jiggies to get to Gruntilda).

Also Mumbo is very squishy, and I don’t think his health improves. Really good thing they did away with lives.
You can rotate in place while Mumbo has his taser out, which is great because you’re a sitting duck otherwise, but it can’t block projectiles either so…

Not if you’re switching to the 360. While Brentilda is not in this game, there are random elements to each file of Banjo Tooie to make the experience more unique, and one of those things are the locations of each colored Jinjo. You found the white one here, but odds are you won’t find it here again when you switch over.

You can also play as a Jingo (who is basically Oddjob), but you have to unlock him through Stop and Swap first. They also have their own weight classes and birds they handle, so it's some neat content that's exclusive to the multiplayer (like the proximity eggs and other items).
oh yeah that's right this game does allowyou fight the bosses again from th extras menu. A lot mroe games should have that as a bonus, honestly

You were both right and wrong about the shooting statues. You can KO them with an egg shot to the jewel on their forehead, but as lucah suspected, they will reactivate after a while.
Jon's laugh when lucah mentioned 'having to aim eggs while being attacked' was priceless. XD

We spent 15 minutes of this episode as the pee Goliath, you know, IN THE BATHROOM. But it was the best 15 minutes I’ve had in a long time…is that a euphemism? I’m not sure. Either way, as promised, Jon earned 3 Jiggies so far, in the shooting section, meanwhile Lucah earned a different 2 here in Mayahem Temple.

I’m commenting six minutes in, but you can actually do something to the shooting statues as BK. Just aim in first person and hit the jewel at the top of its head, and it will stun for several seconds. Doesn’t take them out, but if you need some breathing room it is helpful.
Banjo and Kazooie can't kill the dart statues on their own, but I think shooting the gem on their forehead stuns them for a while.

Although in this game, there's a special thing with the main underwater stage too, so maybe she'll give this one a go. :)
It's been a while since I played GoldenEye, so I can't be certain how close this first FPS section is, but the layout reminds me of Egyptian (the final bonus level in GoldenEye). Later in the game you get Stack and Complex. It's much easier to do those later levels if you're familiar with the basic layout from GoldenEye rather than trying to learn the map in Tooie.

Man, I heard Banjo-Tooie was big, but this is way more than I was expecting, I knew Mumbo was playable but I didn't think he'd do stuff like let you play as Gigi (GG?), nor did I know anything about the first person shooter segments... well, more game means more time to screw around, so it'll be a fun ride no matter how much progress is made.
Kazooie's extra to-the-point this time, I suppose Grunty tried to murder everyone and did kill Bottles, interrupting a perfectly fine break from adventuring, so I get it. I'd also probably just wanna advance if it meant getting this over with after the death of a friend that once came out of the poop hills.

Eekum Bokum, let the Mayahem begin! 7 Jiggies in one ep is excellent progress, but keeping that up won't be possible. They really make you backtrack a lot, though not as much as DK64.

Usually I try to get 7 or 8 jiggies when visiting a world for the first time, then I deem it okay to move on to the next one. I’m interested to see how you guys go about it.

Another thing about the Jinjos is that their colour is randomised with every playthrough. That means you could find all members of a family very early on in the game or you could not complete any of them until quit a bit into the game. It really throws speedrunners off because it's fairly inconsistent.

27:20 At least Ocarina of Time had aiming that properly functions. If there's something I really don't like about Banjo Tooie, it's everything that has to do with first person shooting. I hate that the cursor centres back so you can't really aim without letting go of the control stick and I especially hate the Breegull Blaster-sections because I always get lost in there. If I wanted to actually play your shooters, I would, Rare.

Man I so agree that this is the game where Rare started doing too much. I'm afraid of how it's going to go in the later levels. They are so obnoxiously confusing.
I very much view Donkey Kong 64 as the game where Rare became too ambitious for their own good. Obviously, from a purely technical standpoint, DK64 was pretty incredible for its time, & still stands out as one of the most visually impressive N64 games both in terms of texture detail, lighting, and even the vastness and scope of its environments and how dense it is with everything they were able to pack into thar cartridge. Unfortunately, I think they let their ambitions get the better of them, as so much of that content felt needlessly padded and tedious with the amount collectibles that forced you to constantly backtrack through a level with the different Kong's while also dealing with each characters separate gimmicks.
It made the game feel bloated for the sake of scale and because it was visually and technically impressive, not because the game design benefited from how cluttered its collect-a-thon aspect was.
Banjo Tooie also suffers from this issue to an extent, but more from the size of its levels and lack of signposts which can cause you get lost very easily.
Perfectly fine with Lucah playing. This is blind for me too, oddly, I know nothing about this game. I like Jamjars though.
