This update allows players to make peace treaties amongst each other, and it adds some balance changes that fundamentally change the game and meta! Enjoy!

Now that the diplomacy update is out, I have a challenge for it: I call it the Pacifist challenge
How to win is to get your peace accepted by everyone
You're not allowed to destroy a tribe (you can have little wars but must stop them not so long after)
Other tribes can destroy each other
Play as Quetzali
It's very easy on normal mode, granted I havent done a queztl run on the new update but so long as you establish an embassy and haven't attacked anyone, they will accept peace treaties. Granted the one except is the purple vengir guys who wouldnt accept my peace treaties even though I never attacked them.
The most surefire way to establish peace is to build an embassy then ask for peace as soon as you discover a tribe

I’ve done this with crazy boys. Just got boring and murdered everyone in about 10 turns, save one tribe that was just pesky to moo up
The number of daggers depends on the level of the city If it’s a level two city two daggers spawn if it’s a level five city five daggers spawn.

I thought 3 daggers spawned, no matter the city level. Then I sent a cloak into an Oumanji capital and there were 5 daggers. I was confused af but thanks.

The AI has most certainly gotten better. I'm about 15 turns into a match to test the new update on crazy against Luxidoor, Kickoo and Polaris (random tribe gave me Hoodrick to play) and I can tell the difference. They feel more coordinated and are making more intelligent moves.
Btw, Luxidoor was ALWAYS the real clowns. Hoodrick has unjustly suffered your ire long enough! Lol

I mean.... Pre-nerf Luxidoor was a monster though.
i love diplomacy already. Lots of potential with oumaji. Also 1v2s and 2v3s or 2v4s are going to be super fun.

Hey gully, I did some testing with the cloaks after watching this video and it seems thats the amount of daggers that a cloak spawns is equal to the city level: attacking a level 3 city spawns 3, attacking level 4 city spawns 4, etc. Also found out a cloak doesn’t need to hit an enemy unit on a city to spawn the daggers, they only don’t spawn if the city is already under siege.
Makes sense, cool stuff

All my cities were like Level 6 and I didn’t have experience dealing with cloaks

I'm kinda glad the a i is smarter. Because now they don't just spam lol 2 boats. And actually build battle ships. Makes it a bit more fun and challenging. XD

I love the new update. I promised myself I'd start playing competitive Polytopia once the update drops because there's no horrible chop meta anymore. Also, team games are now more fun thanks to Diplomacy. Good job Midjiwan!

Btw, the cloak spawns the number of daggers depending on the city level, so the higher the level of the city the more daggers you spawn, because it makes sense.
Bigger city = More population = More rebeliants/Daggers

I played a bot of the update, I won a whole campaign by making allies with 2/3 of the other tribes, afterwards I broke peace 1 at a time

I have a request. Could you make a 5/10/20/30 minutes (up to you, I'll watch them all anyways) about every tribu and his main strategy. I loved your last video giving tips for begginers and would like to watch more content of poly ^^
Free spirit used to be one of the best techs, it's useless now

I think that diplomacy is one of the best updates we've ever received (it's either that or moonrise). I think Cloaks and starting riot are cool features, but I'm not a fan of the spawning daggers. I think they're kinda annoying and negatively impact the importance of zone of control and good unit placement if a bunch enemy units can suddenly appear behind your front lines. I think riots alone are detrimental enough to make you paranoid of Cloaks, the daggers are just the annoying side effect for me. I think they should be nefered, so that daggers can actually recive retaliation damage.
The whole cloak system is completely overpowered. I was playing against just medium bots and the last guy kept spamming the hell out of cloaks, there was no physical way I could track down the 30+ cloaks they had on the map at one time, so obviously tons got through. So essentially every single turn 3 of my cities got hit by cloaks so they got like 15 daggers and just wiped my entire army. There's no strategy behind cloaks it's just blind luck hoping they don't get spotted and then it's a free win regardless of how far behind you are because they spawn so many units that basically get a free hit on all your units because there's far too many to kill in one turn
The AI doesn't attack you when you break a peace treaty if you have an ambassy with it, it probably should though
fun fact: if u hold on unit that can attack ur opponent, u can see how much damage it will deal

Could you do a video on roads? I am a little confused on them.
For example, I got roads and used them to get to a village faster. Which worked. But when I train another troop I cannot use the road like last turn.

I played a few games and I like the update, but in my opinion the cloaks are a bit overpowered.
I think right now they feel overpowered because we don't really know the best way to counter them yet, it should get better
I know a semi-counter with polaris you just freeze the area with either a mooni or a giant (forgot the name)
The mind benders can detect them
@@GullYYGamer Been using Polaris, while they're a nuisance, I don't think the cloaks are that bad, although I am using a tribe whose ice fields prevent cloaks from relying on sea travel 😂

Yeah, they're big chillin'
From a big game I played with the AIs, the crazy bots SPAM cloaks in the endgame. And in a way, cloaks and daggers kinda compete against battleships... Obviously on paper, battleships shred through them, but daggers can be swarmed if you can make cloaks regularly, battleships can only kill one at a time. They can poke battleships too. Ultimately, I'm thinking, situationally, cloaks may be or become the best land unit.
Not just the crazy bots, the easy bots do too and it's physically impossible to win if they get through because it's just an absurd snowball effect
I love polytopia in general and this diplomacy update, but I personally think they should release a new game mode with it where the you win if all other tribes on the square are your allies. Or maybe somewhere between that and domination where you kill those who aren't allies and win when everyone else on the square is an ally. I've just found it kinda unsatisfying when you and another tribe wipe out an enemy in a cool act of teamwork , and you're then like 'welp, gotta prepare to betray them now'. And it's often not hard to betray an AI either, so for me the ending of the game isn't as rewarding. I'm still a big fan of the update though to be clear!

Some crazy bots make diplomacy a pain in the rear. I literally planned to attack a bot after it hit me with a cloak three turns in a row and when I tried going on their land they already had cloaks on every bit of land.

How i can up my opponent number
Did an exhausting 40 turns battle vs AI... Allied with Hoodrick and togheter we took down all others 3 tribes. After i took last capital, they FOOLISHLY break the alliance. This is so dumb that i can't accept it. So what was the purpose of the alliance? Having more 4 stars each turn? If i had conquered all theirs cities, I would have earned more... TONS of stars. They helped me with others tribes? At all. And if they are real players, the fact that alliance may be break within 1 turn make them continuously get advantage from you at least that you may help them. I think that this gameplay needs more and more developing, because in this way is just dumb. Like other aspect of the game, ofc.

Not a fan of this update personally only because of how the CPU plays; you'll often end up in a stalemate with one or two tribes, and they never break the peace so you eventually have to, leaving you at a disadvantage.
I’m so annoyed that they nerfed knights so much. My whole strategy was to grow an economy of roughly 20-30 stars per turn and then spam knights.

If quetzali started with diplomacy instead of shields, then it could become a really strong tribe if they start with cloaks, because they are really fast and explore 2 tiles instead of 1, and even better in a 2v2 game

Lmao how do you get your explorer to always go in the directions where there are clouds, mine always go into already visited territories 🥲
It has to be near a cloud, if the explorer starts 3 or more tiles from a cloud, then its probably not going to go the right way
They will initally travel towards clouds that are within a 2 tile radius of where the explorer spawns. If there are no clouds within a 2 tile radius, they choose a random direction
